Translated literally, equinox means "equal night." Because the sun is positioned above the equator, day and night are about equal in length all over the world during the equinoxes. The only time the world experiences unity.
Springtime is seen as a time of growth, renewal, of new life (both plant and animal) being born, and of the cycle of life once again starting. It is also used more generally as the start of better times, as in Prague Spring. And of course Persian New year.

The Sumerians called the sun, Subat, meaning the Ancient Sheep or Ram and the planets the Celestial Herd. The bright star in Aries, Hamal, meaning the lamb, represented one of the stars in the Scimitar, a celestial weapon that protected against the Seven Diabolic Spirits of the Storm. The Babylonian priest Berossos who lived around 275 BC said that the world was created when the Sun was in the Ram.

In his Gathas (Hymns), Zarathushtra tells us of The World Savior, Saoshyant, who is to come and stop the cruelty of bloodthirsty and wicked people, and renew the world, and end death. Saoshyant brings the dead to life at the End of Time. Z says Saoshyant is feminine energy linked to Seshat the female counterpart of Thoth The Scribe who is Zoroaster.
