TEHRAN (FNA)- Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah invited former Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani to visit the kingdom later this month.
The invitation to Rafsanjani to attend an Islamic conference in Mecca was extended because of the former president's "influence" in the Islamic world, Saudi ambassador to Tehran Osama al- Sanoosi said.
"Disunity in the Muslim world is in the interest of enemies, and Iran and Saudi Arabia can resolve differences in the Muslim world," Rafsanjani said during the meeting with the Saudi envoy.
