Early Years:

Born in Tehran, in 1952, to an accountant father, Shohreh Aghdashloo started her acting career with smaller Theater Workshops in her hometown where she participated in various plays. She was part of the Drama Workshop of Tehran where new areas of theatre were always tested out. The group was formed by a group of young actors, intellectuals and playwrights among whom were Bijan Saffaree and Abbas Na'lbandian. At 25, Aghdashloo left for London, to earn a degree in International Relations. In Britain, she continued her life-long passion, which was still acting. Throughout her early years, Aghdashloo used theatre as a medium and place to learn acting and hone her skills for the big screen.



Acclaimed Actress:

Shohreh Aghdashloo's Iranian feature film debut was in the movie Gozaresh, which premiered in 1977. The movie was directed by Abbas Kia-Rostami whose later films such as Through the Olive Tree and Taste of Cherry have captivated audiences worldwide. Her second film she acted in, Shatranje bad was released first in 1976. Aghdashloo went on to participate in her third filrm, Sooteh-Delan which came out in. This movies was directed by the legendary Iranian Writer/Director, Ali Hatami whose memorable Period Piece movies such as Soltan-e Saheb Gheran and Hezar Dastaan contributed significantly to raising the awareness of Iran's past hundred years of history. Aghdashloo, taking the role of a hired prostitute, appeared opposite famed Behrooz Vosooghi. In 1978, Aghdashloo left for Britain. There she completed her studies and acted in various theatre productions.

In 1987, Aghdashloo moved to Los Angeles to command a bigger Farsi speaking audience. There she met her husband, actor and playwright Houshang Touzie. She continued her work in plays and theatre. One of the best known plays has been her husband's Sweet Smell of Love (Booyeh Khosh-e Eshgh) which became an instant hit with audiences everywhere. This heart-felt play is about the immigrant family life. While acting in this play, Aghdashloo also took smaller roles in Hollywood films, including America So Beautiful and Surviving Paradise. If she was waiting for the right role, then her chance came with her next film.

Aghdashloo's big Hollywood break came with her role in the movie The House of Sand and Fog (2003). She starred opposite acclaimed actor Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly. The movie depicts the story of an Iranian family who has moved to America and is trying to make end's meet. For her role in this film, Aghdashloo was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress category. She is the first Iranian to be honored with such a nomination at the Academy Awards. Today, Aghdashloo continues acting with her husband in their co-written plays. Touzie's sequel to the first play. Our Share of the Father's House, continues to draw crowd and please audiences.

17 Aug 2005 24's Shohreh Aghdashloo cast in X-Men 3

IGN has been on a roll this week with their news about the expanded cast for X-Men 3. "Stax" has informed us that the latest confirmed actor for the three-quel is Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo, who was nominated for an Oscar as a supporting actress for the 2003 drama House of Sand and Fog (she also guest-starred in several episodes of 24, Day 4 as Dina Araz - TGL).

Aghdashloo will be playing Doctor Kavita Rao, who was introduced in Joss Whedon's recent run on "Astonishing X-Men" as a geneticist that created a serum called Hope to try to rid mutants of their mutations, essentially "curing" them. The controversial serum created waves within the X-Men, particularly with Hank McCoy AKA The Beast, who will be played by Kelsey Grammer in the upcoming film.

Ironically, Aghdashloo also plays a doctor in the upcoming The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

Our favorite actress of the day arrives on the red carpet at the 57th Annual Emmy Awards Show in Los Angeles. Shohreh has been very busy lately, having gained much mainstream attention through TV shows like "24". Her latest projects include the Exorcism of Emily Rose and a part in the new X-Men 3 movie.

Loved or hated Shohreh Aghdashloo's seems to equally push the boundaries of provocation and glitter particularly for her bold film choices but also for being a staunch supporter of Iranian actors and artists of the Diaspora. She was to surprise and even divide Iranians with her frequent critical attacks on another exiled compatriot, the Iconic Diva Singer Googoosh , whose Star Status is hardly deniable but who she accuses of belittling the LA based Iranian Artist community. While the debate has mostly amused her fans or her detractors it may be interesting to try and understand her approach as an actress whose Life and Art represent that of a new generation brutally confronted to the turmoil's of history and exile.

Shohreh Aghdashloo (53 years old) is one of Hollywood's most desired actors and one of the major heroes of the Thriller 24; A glory that does not make her forget her painful past …

TELE STAR: Was playing a terrorist knowing that you are Iranian a problem ?

Shohreh Aghdashloo: Yes of course it did. All the more that I did not wish to represent people from the Middle East as terrorists. It does not correspond to the reality. However once I agreed to do the role, I invested myself entirely.

TS: How ?

SA: By watching several episodes of 24 (laughter). I have to admit I didn't know the series. I wrote a small story and tried to imagine Dina's (her character) past, how she met her husband, there trips …

TS: Yourself you fled Iran …

SA: Yes, at the time of the Islamic republic. It was unsupportable, I could not accept a religious regime. I was a modern Women born in a family of intellectuals. It was out of the question to live suppressed. Back in 78, I took a car with two friends and we headed for Great Britain

TS: You were already an actress then ?

SA: Yes and even considered a Star. But when I came to Europe, I abandoned my acting career and studied political science. I wanted to help my country to get out of the mess. I got a degree in international relations. I was about to work in a newspaper in England when a friend gave me a part in a play. We came to the Us to present it and it was an immediate success. So I thought to myself that I could also be useful to my country by simply being an actress. I landed in Hollywood in 1987.

TS: Do you feel good here ?

SA: Yes I do, and I live with my husband (Houshang Touzie) also an actor and our daughter Tara. I love making movies. I played in this Fall's box office hit The exorcism of Emily Rose and in X-Men 3. I also played in a movie which will be released next year with Keenu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.

TS: You still didn't say anything about Kiefer Sutherland …

SA: He is an excellent actor and a gentleman, and Jack Bauer is an extraordinary hero. Since we know he will never die, everything is perfect !

Whale Rider star Keisha Castle-Hughes, 16, and her boyfriend, Bradley Hull, 19, are expecting their first child this spring, People magazine reports. The couple have been dating for three years.

The actress first made waves playing the fiery Paikea in 2002's Whale Rider -- a role for which she received a Best Actress Oscar nomination. At 13, she was the youngest Best Actress nominee in history.

"I thought I was still dreaming," she said about the honor at the time.

Since Whale Rider, Castle-Hughes has taken few roles, though she did play the Queen of Naboo in 2005's Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith and will appear as Mary in the upcoming movie The Nativity Story costarring Shohreh Aghdashloo.

The Australian-born actress grew up and still lives in New Zealand and -- like her character in Whale Rider -- is part Maori.

USA Today says that despite Fox's recent decision to put "Happy Hour" on an undetermined hiatus, "Smith" is actually the first show of the fall season to officially get cut.

Liotta starred as part of a team of high-stakes thieves. Virginia Madsen, Amy Smart, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Jonny Lee Miller costarred. With such a high profile cast, where did things go wrong?

Technically, they really weren't that bad -- the most recent episode was viewed by over 8 million people. However, with such big names that is considered a flop in TV terms.

کيشا کسل هيوز، دختر شانزده ساله ای که نقش حضرت مريم را در فيلم " ميلاد مسيح، بازی می کند اعلام کرده است به دليل بارداری قادر به شرکت در مراسم افتتاح این فيلم در واتيکان نخواهد بود. کیشا می گوید پدر طفل او دوست پسرش است که 19 سال دارد.
یک عضو شورای فرهنگی پاپ در واکنش به این خبر گفت که از کیشا انتظار می رفت که نقش خود را خوب بازی کند نه این که یک قدیس باشد. کيشا که استراليايی است برای بازی در فيلم "نهنگ سوار" کانديدای دريافت جايزه اسکار شده بود.

پاپ بنديکت رهبر کاتوليک های جهان نيز به دليل سفر قريب الوقوعش به ترکيه در مراسم افتتاح ميلاد مسيح حضور نخواهد داشت.

در اين فيلم شهره آغداشلو هنرپيشه ايرانی نقش اليزابت دختر خاله حضرت مريم و مادر حضرت يحيی را ايفا می کند.



در مراسم افتتاح نمايش فيلم مورد بحث نزديک به ۷ هزار نفر شرکت می کنند. فيلم در تالار پل چهارم، در واتيکان به نمايش گذاشته می شود.

داستان فيلم درباره اين است که چگونه جبرئيل به حضرت مريم بشارت داد که او حضرت عيسی را به دنيا خواهد آورد.

اين فيلم در ماه آينده ميلادی در آمريکا و ايتاليا نمايش داده خواهد شد.

درآمد افتتاحيه فيلم ميلاد مسيح، صرف ساختن مدرسه ای در ناصريه، که نزديک به محل تولد حضرت مسيح است خواهد شد.

Some 7,000 people crowded up at the benefit screening of 'The Nativity Story' in Paul VI Hall, the auditorium usually used for audiences with pilgrims, although Pope Benedict XVI was not present.



'I think the pope is pretty busy,' said director Catherine Hardwicke, referring to the Pope’s recent trip to Turkey.



'The Nativity Story,' which opens in the United States and Europe in time for the Christmas holidays on Dec. 1, describes Mary's pregnancy and the trip she and Joseph undertake to Bethlehem, the town of Jesus' birth. It explores Mary's reaction - of fear, doubt and ultimately faith - to what is happening to her.



Mary is played by Australian-born Keisha Castle-Hughes, of 'Whale Rider' fame, who was not present at the premiere. Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo, who was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actress in 'House of Sand and Fog,' stars as Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. Oscar Isaac portrays Joseph. Another Iranian Shaun Toub noticed in Paul Haggis’ Oscar Winning film Crash stars as Joachim and Hiam Abbass (Munich) stars as Anna.



The 102-minute film was shot between Morocco and Matera, a town in southern Italy where Mel Gibson shot his controversial biblical epic 'The Passion of the Christ.'



Hardwicke praised 'The Passion,' but said she tried to do a more uniting film than Gibson's blockbuster about the last hours of Jesus Christ.



Before the screening, Archbishop John Foley, a U.S. prelate who heads the Vatican's social communications office, praised what he called a dialogue between faith and culture.



'Cinema, a powerful means of communication, once again carries a universal message,' he told the audience.



Despite the Vatican's stamp of approval, Hardwicke said her movie sought to appeal not just to religious audiences.
'We hope that people might relate to the relationship in the film, Mary and Joseph, and how their love grows and gets stronger as each one of them has challenges,' she said.



Producers said earlier this month that proceeds from the event would go toward the construction of a school in a village that is some 25 miles from Nazareth, the town of Jesus' childhood.



The village, Mughar, whose population includes Christians and Muslims, was one of the Israeli towns hit by rockets fired by Lebanon-based Hezbollah guerrillas over the summer.



'The Nativity Story' was produced by New Line Cinema, the company that made 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy.

Academy Award-nominated actress Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog) will guest star in the hit drama series Grey's Anatomy in an episode entitled "Scars and Souvenirs," airing THURSDAY, MARCH 15 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. Aghdashloo will portray patient Helen Crawford.

Aghdashloo, who recently appeared in the films The Nativity Story, X-Men: The Last Stand and The Lake House, first gained international recognition for her work in House of Sand and Fog. She not only garnered an Academy-Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, but won the Supporting Actress categories at the Independent Spirit Awards, New York Film Critics Association and Los Angeles Film Critics Association.

Academy Award-nominated actress Shohreh Aghdashloo is set to expand her impressive acting portfolio by appearing in the hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy.

Aghdashloo will appear in an episode titled Scars and Souvenirs, slated to air in the US on March 15. Details about her role are sketchy, though US broadcaster ABC has revealed she'll play a patient called Helen Crawford.

Iranian-born Aghdashloo should feel right at home on the set of a top-rated US drama. In 2005 she had a starring role in the fourth season of 24, playing the wife of a terrorist suspect.

Aghdashloo attracted international attention after starring in the 2003 movie House of Sand and Fog, a performance that earned her an Academy Award nod for best supporting actress. She has also had film roles in X-Men: The Last Stand and The Lake House, and appeared on TV in Will & Grace and ER.

In anticipation of the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, fans have expressed a lot of concern over the shrinking base of characters, but new info from the spoiler scene has brought some very interesting information regarding some new, challenging characters being brought on to Grey’s Anatomy to fill the void that Kate Walsh’s Dr. Montgomery will leave. We’ve hunted up some information on these new characters, and when you can expect to see them on Grey’s Anatomy. Beware, some spoilers are unavoidable.

The new characters will begin appearing as early as March 15th according to ABC themselves. In the official description for “Scars and Souvenirs”, ABC has the following to say.
The race for chief heats up after a new competitor enters the fray, tensions escalate between Izzie and George, and Callie must reveal a big secret. Meanwhile, Derek treats a patient near and dear to him, while Alex continues his work with Jane Doe. Shohreh Aghdashloo, James Gammon, and Roger Rees guest star.

Aghdashloo is going to be playing a patient named Helen Crawford. Fans may know her from “The Nativity Story”, and “X-Men: The Last Stand”. Roger Rees is likely to play the new competition for Chief as Collin, a British doctor, according to spoilerfix.

In the more distant future of Grey’s, there is a two hour episode which will be introducing the character to be played by Taye Diggs in the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff. In addition, that episode will also feature Hector Elizondo as Callie’s father. The episode, titled “My Greatest Mistake”, has not been given an airdate as of yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know. According to some sources, (spoilerfix again), the episode will be the season finale which is scheduled to air in late April or early May, around the same time the proposed Grey’s Anatomy spin-off will appear on the scene.

به گزارش فارس به نقل از خبرگزاري رويترز، در اين سريال چهار قسمتي «ييگال نائور»، بازيگر اسرائيلي كه بيش از همه براي بازي در فيلم «مونيخ» به كارگرداني «استيون اسپيلبرگ» شهرت دارد، در نقش «صدام حسين» ايفاي نقش خواهد كرد.

در اين فيلم كه تهيه*كنندگي آنرا دو شبكه ماهواره*اي «BBC» و «HBO» به عهده دارند، «شهره آغداشلو»، در نقش «ساجده»، همسر صدام حسين، «كريستين استفان دالي»، بازيگر استراليايي در نقش «سميرا» همسر ديگر صدام و «يوري گاوريل»، در نقش «علي حسن المجيد» معروف به علي شيميايي، پسر عموي صدام بازي خواهد كرد.

شهره آغداشلو :عكسم را روي جلد مجله چاپ نكردند چون ايراني ام

شهره آغداشلو اولين بازيگر ايراني است كه نامزد دريافت جايزه اسكار شد.

شهره آغداشلو مي گويد اگر به او پيشنهاد شود در ايران هم فيلم بازي مي كند
او در سال ۲۰۰۴ به خاطر بازي در فيلم خانه اي ازشن و مه نامزد جايزه بهترين بازيگر زن در نقش مكمل شد.

شهره كه بازيگري پرسابقه در تئاتر و سينماي ايران است، اكنون به صورت هنرپيشه اي پركار در هاليوود در آمده و در دو سه سال گذشته در شش فيلم سينمايي و چندين سريال تلويزيوني نقش ايفا كرده است.

در حومه لس آنجلس به منزلش رفتيم و در هواي دلچسب در حياط نشستيم و شهره از آخرين فعليت هايش برايمان گفت:

آخرين كاري كه كردم نقش حضرت اليزابت مادر حضرت يحيي است، دختر خاله حضرت مريم، مقداري از اين فيلم در ايتاليا فيلمبرداري شد، در ده فوق العاده زيبايي به نام مترا.

من سفر زياد كرده ام ولي مترا روستايي است بي نظير در جهان، از قلعه هاي پيش از تاريخ گرفته تا ساختمانهاي قرون وسطائي تا كليساهاي دوران رنسانس، همه واقعاً در چند قدمي هم واقع شده اند و از همه جذابتر!! البته تابلوهاي نئون آمريكايي است كه آمريكن اكسپرس و مكدونالد را وسط اين ده نشان مي دهد، فوق العاده منظره زيبايي داشت.

حدود نصف فيلم در ايتاليا فيلمبرداري شد و نيمه ديگرش وقتي رسيد به كاخهاي پارسي در مراكش فيلمبرداري شد.

در اولين صحنه اي كه در مراكش فيلم برداري شد، صحنه اي است كه همسر من زكريا به معبد رفته براي خواندن دعا و ما در مقابل ساختمان يا كاخي پارسي در مراكش هستيم، اين در واقع كاري است كه به عهده گرفتم.

اخيراً شما در چند سريال تلويزيوني هم بازي كرديد، يعني الآن تمام وقت شما صرف كارهاي هاليوودي مي شود، قبل از اين شما در زمينه كارهاي ايراني يعني در جامعه ايراني، تلويزيونهاي ايراني و تئاتر فعاليت داشتيد ديگر اين كارها را نمي كنيد؟

در حال حاضر الآن سه سال است كه كار تئاتر فارسي زبان نكرده ام و اگر هم اجرايي بوده اجراي آخرين نمايشي بوده كه با همسرم هوشنگ توزيع كار كرديم، نمايش زندگي شيرين ما در كنار اقيانوس آرام.

پس از آن متأسفانه كار تازه اي نداشتيم، هوشنگ توزيع كاري براي خودش و گروهش نوشت به اسم از ماهواره با عشق كه همچنان با آن كار دارد دور دنيا مي چرخد.

مضافاً كه وقتي من وارد اين كار شدم از آنجايي كه دوست دارم نقشهايي بازي كنم كه خوبند و مي دانم كه مي توانم آن نقش را خوب بازي بكنم مرتباً يكي پس از ديگري نقشهاي تازه اي بوده، من تا به امروز ظرف دو سال در شش فيلم سينمايي و سريال تلويزيوني بازي كرده ام.


اگر ايراني نبودم صد در صد نامزد اسكار مي شدم چون بازيگرها قبيله خودشان را دارند و كساني هم كه به اينها رأي مي دهند طرفدار اين قبيله ها هستند و براي آنها مهم نيست كه من كجايي ام

در دو سريال تلويزيوني هم به عنوان هنرپيشه ميهمان بازي كردم و يك كتاب هم روي نوار خواندم نوشته كارمن بن لادن [همسر سابق برادر اسامه بن لادن] به زبان انگليسي.

دو فيلم مستند را صداگذاري كردم و يك فيلم مستند هم خودم ساختم، بنابراين مي توانيد خودتان تصور كنيد كه هنوز جايي براي من نمانده كه بتوانم كار فارسي زبان بكنم.

اين موفقيت حرفه اي كه شما داشتيد، تأثيرش روي زندگي شخصي تان چه بوده؟ آيا در كار و زندگي شخصي و در رابطه شما با آقاي توزيع هيچ تأثيري گذاشته؟

خيلي خيلي تأثير گذاشته، مهمترين تأثيرش اينكه من و هوشنگ صبح تا شب با هم بوديم، براي كار كردن، ما از صبح تا شب كار مي كرديم، صبح من با بچه بودم مي بردمش مدرسه بعد بلافاصله شروع مي كرديم، اگر نمايش داشتيم، اگر كتاب بود چاپ مي كرديم، اگر چيزي بود مي خواستيم روي صحنه ببريم، تمام مدت با هم بوديم، بعد تازه روي صحنه هم كه مي رفتيم پايين هم كه مي آمديم با هم بوديم، حالا كارمان از هم جدا شده، مشكلاتمان را پيش هم نمي بريم فقط عشقمان را پيش همديگر مي بريم.

دوم اينكه وقت بيشتري به من مي دهد كه به خانه برسم، چون يك ميليون بار گفتم بگذاريد براي يك ميليون و يك بار هم بگويم وقتي كار منظم است آدم به همه كارها مي رسد.

چون كار اينها [آمريكاييها] منظم است تكليف ما با اينها مشخص شده، اينها مي گويند چهارشنبه صبح ساعت پنج مي آيي سر كار تا چهار شنبه شب ساعت هشت مي روي، اگر هم اضافه ماندي يك ساعت دو ساعت ما اضافه مي دهيم، من اين را مي دانم پس خودم را آماده مي كنم وقت دندانساز بچه ام سر جايش است، وقت دكتر خودم سر جايش است، خيلي همه چيز مرتب تر شده در زندگي ام.

اين باعث نشده كه از جامعه ايراني دور بشويد؟

نه خيلي جالب است كه باعث شده من بيشتر به جامعه ايراني برگردم، قبل از اين كه كار تئاتر فارسي زبان مي كرديم، سفر مي كرديم، با ايرانيهاي مقيم كشورهاي ديگر دنيا آشنا مي شديم، فارسي صحبت مي كرديم اما وقتي خودم مي آمدم خانه با بچه به هر حال اين بچه بايد درسش را حاضر مي كرد در نتيجه زندگي دو گانه اي بود كه من داشتم، زندگي فارسي زبانم را اينجا مي كردم.

وقتي وارد اين كار شدم يعني يك فيلم بعد از ديگري و كار تلويزيون، كارهاي اجتماعي كه من خودم خيلي بهش علاقه مندم و قبلا همين كارها را براي جامعه ايراني مي كردم، حالا براي جامعه آمريكايي مي كنم.

پارسال سه روز براي سازمان قلب آمريكا رفتم نيويورك خدمت كردم، دلم مي خواست كه اين كار را بكنم بنابراين مي بينيد كه ساعتهاي اضافي ام باشد ترجيح مي دهم در خدمت خلق باشم .


براي كيارستمي، براي داريوش مهرجويي، براي هنرمندهايي كه برايشان خيلي خيلي احترام قائلم، كارشان را خيلي دوست دارم و مايه افتخار منند هر جا مي روم، بله مي روم و حجاب سرم مي كنم

نتوانستم آن فرصت را پيدا كنم كه به آن كاري كه دارم بپردازم اما به محض اينكه اين كار اتفاق افتاد، آن چنان دلتنگي شديدي در من ايجاد شده كه حالادر خلوت به موسيقي ايراني گوش مي كنم، در راديو به كانال ايراني گوش مي كنم، موسيقي مي گذارند دلم شاد مي شود تو راهها كه مسافرت مي كنم دوازده ساعت سيزده ساعت، سفر اخيرم هيجده ساعت هر طرف بايد مي رفتم، تمام مدت در گوشم موسيقي اصيل ايراني و موسيقي كلاسيك بود.

كتاب مي خواندم دوباره داشتم كتاب آقاي اسماعيل فصيح را مي خواندم، عاشق كارهاي اسماعيل فصيحم و اين يك جورهايي باعث شد كه نمي دانم چه جوري برايتان بگويم خيلي باعث شده كه نزديكتر هم شدم، اخبار هم كه مي دانيد دنبال مي كنم چون از نان شب براي من واجبتراست، در مملكتمان چي مي گذرد، عاقبت چه خواهد شد، چگونه تصميمات گرفته مي شود، اين تصميمات كدام طرفي اند، بالاخره ايراني هستيم.

در مراسم ايرانيها يا در مهمانيهايشان يا براي عيد يا در دانشگاه شركت مي كنيد؟

قديم كه خيلي شركت مي كردم، حالا هم اگر فرصتش باشد، اگر اينجا باشد، بله شركت مي كنم .

در لس آنجلس هنرمند ايراني خيلي هست يعني هنرپيشه هم هست كساني كه تجربه بيشتري از شما دارند، چطور شد كه بين اين همه هنرمند و هنرپيشه و اينها كه اينجا هستند، شما اين موفقيتها را پيدا كرديد؟ دليلش از نظر خود شما چيست؟

آن نقش درستي كه بايد برايم پيش بيايد، آمد، در خانه اي از شن و مه.

من مي توانستم بيست سال ديگر هم اينجا زندگي بكنم ولي آن نقشي كه بتواند من را به آمريكاييها، به تماشاچيهاي آمريكايي يا آنهايي كه به فيلم علاقمندند آشنا بكند، پيدا نكنم، شايد براي ديگران پيش نيامده باشد.

در محدوده زماني خيلي كوتاهي يكباره اسم خانمهاي ايراني مطرح شد، خانم عبادي برنده جايزه نوبل شد، شما نامزد جايزه اسكار شديد، در چند كشور ملكه زيبايي ايراني انتخاب شد، عده اي اعتقاد دارند كه مطرح بودن اسم خود ايران در اخبار روز در آن زمان باعث شد كه توجه به ايرانيها بيشتر بشود، شما فكر مي كنيد ايراني نبوديد نامزد اسكار مي شديد؟

من اگر ايراني نبودم صد در صد نامزد اسكار مي شدم چون بازيگرها قبيله خودشان را دارند و كساني هم كه به اينها رأي مي دهند طرفدار اين قبيله ها هستند و براي آنها مهم نيست كه من كجايي ام.

اما براي سردبير مجله اي كه در انگلستان عكس من را روي جلد بگذارد يا نگذارد مهم است و جواب مي دهد كه نمي توانم عكسش را روي جلد بگذارم چون ايراني است و ما الآن نگاه خوبي به ايرانيها نداريم.


يكي از دلائلي كه آن نقش را در سريال 24 پذيرفتم براي اين است كه تا به حال اسم يك ايراني در ليست تروريستها نبوده، ادعا زياد هست كه دولت ايران كمك مي كنه مالي يا معنوي به بعضي از اينها ولي اسمي تاكنون در نيامده، جايي شاهدي وجود نداشته، برگه اي نيست كه ثابت بكند كه ما حتي دخالتي داشتيم در اين زمينه

در سطح بازيگري فرقي نمي كند، مثلاً من مي روم كنار بازيگرهاي بزرگ اينجا با ساندرا بالاك، با كيانو ريوز، بازيگرهاي فوق العاده خوبي اند، خيلي حرفه اي اند، خيلي انسانند، اهل ادا نيستند، براي آنها فرقي نمي كند من كجايي ام ولي براي كساني كه پشت صحنه اند مهم است و متأسفانه مطرح شدن ايران بستگي دارد كه چگونه معرفي مي شود، اگر در حد عذاب ملل ديگر مطرح مي شود كه ديگر مطرح كردن هنرمندانش سودي ندارد كه كشور بيگانه بخواهد از آن استفاده اي بكند، بنابر اين شايد حتي به ضرر ما هم تمام مي شود، همين دو هفته پيش يك عكس روي جلد را از دست دادم به خاطر اينكه ايراني ام.

من منظورم اين بود كه مي تواند به حالت دهن كجي هم باشد، مطرح كردن ايرانيها در موقعي كه ايران به طور منفي مطرح مي شود، مثلاً ايرانيهايي كه در خارج از كشورند، دهن كجي باشد به آن حكومت.

ممكن است، به هرحال عوامل متفاوت بايد گرد هم بيايند تا حادثه اي رخ بدهد كه هميشه مي تواند، هر چيزي مي تواند صحت داشته باشد و نداشته باشد .

صحبت ايران شد، شما الآن هيچ علاقه اي داريد به فيلمهاي ايراني، فيلمهاي قديمي ايراني كه خودتان هم توي چندتاش بازي كرديد نگاه مي كنيد هرگز؟

حقيقتش فيلمهاي قديمي را چندين و چند بار در ايران ديدم ولي فيلمهاي جديد را دنبال مي كنم كه دو تا فيلم اخيراً ديدم كه عاشق دوتاش شدم، جاي شما خالي فيلم دختر شيريني فروش را ديدم، آن قدر خنديدم، يعني اگر يكي مي خواهد ما ايرانيها، ما تهرانيها را در يك فيلم به ديگران بشناساند، قيوداتمان را، عشقمان را، محبتمان را ...

خوب اين كساني كه در ايران فيلم مي سازند كه شما هم الآن به كارهايشان علاقه داريد و فيلمهايشان را تماشا مي كنيد، هيچ وقت به شما پيشنهاد كردند كه برويد ايران و در فيلمهايشان بازي بكنيد؟

نه هيچ پيشنهادي به من نشده، گمان مي كنم شايد در محظور قرار دارند و نمي توانند با من كار بكنند يا در حال حاضرنقش براي من نيست.

اگر پيشنهاد بكنند شما حاضريد برويد و نقش بازي بكنيد؟

بله، من مشكلي ندارم، خيلي هم خوشحال مي شوم.

يعني برايتان مهم نيست كه مثلاً حجاب بر سرتان كنيد و در فيلم نقش بازي كنيد؟

براي كيارستمي، براي داريوش مهرجويي، براي هنرمندهايي كه برايشان خيلي خيلي احترام قائلم، كارشان را خيلي دوست دارم و مايه افتخار منند هر جا مي روم، بله مي روم و حجاب سرم مي كنم.

ده سال پيش ازمن پرسيده بوديد مي گفتم نه، جوان بودم مي گفتم به هيچ وجه، اصلاً اين عمل ارتجاعي است اما گذشت زمان درسهايي به آدم مي دهد، از جمله اينكه شايد ديگران در محظوراتي قرار دارند كه نمي توانند همان كاري را بكنند كه من كردم، بنابراين من علاقمندم كه با آنها كار بكنم، اين من هستم كه وارد حريم و حرم آنها مي شوم و بايد آنچه قانون آنهاست را رعايت بكنم.

كي ايرانيها بايد در فيلمهاي خارجي نقش ايراني يا شرقي بازي بكنند؟ يعني از شهره آغداشلو به عنوان هنرپيشه زن استفاده بشود، نه به عنوان ايراني يا شرقي يعني يكي مثل عمر شريف كه وارد هاليوود شد، عرب بود، بعد فيلمهايي مثل دكتر ژيواگو هم بازي كرد و فيلمهاي ديگر، كي ايرانيها هم به آنجا مي رسند؟

در درجه اول من هميشه دوست دارم همه چيز را همان طوري كه هست ببينم، رؤياپرداز نيستم، خيلي منطقي ام، بنابر اين منطقي ماجرا را دنبال مي كنم، در مورد آمدن يك هنر پيشه ايراني به هاليوود، خوب طبيعتاً الآن چون قصه هاي زيادي اتفاق مي افتد كه در ارتباط با آن سوي جهان است بنابراين خيلي طبيعي است كه از او بخواهند در اين نقشها بازي بكند .

حالا چطور مي شود كه اين هنرپيشه به آبهاي بين المللي بپيوندد؟ تنها با كا
