    TRAGIC EARTHQUAKE IN BAM, IRAN
As most of you already know, more than 30,000 people have been injured in the ancient city of Bam. The city hospital in Bam has collapsed, water and power supplies are cut off and it is reported that over 60% of houses have collapsed, the city is almost completely destroyed.
Ahmad Pezeshkian, Iran's Country health minister said they have enough foreign volunteers but Iran is in desperate need of Drugs & Medical Equipment. The UN has reported there are criticl shortages of medicines, plastic sheeting, kitchen sets, stoves, blankets & food. Many organizations throughout the world are donating money and time and Iran is in desperate need of ALL of our help. PLEASE DONATE IMMEDIATELY! With one word of caution, please investigate on the internet and find out about the people you are donating too, we want to make sure that the money goes to the people who need it most! Another source

I have sent my donations to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies at http://www.ifrc.org/helpnow/donate/donate_iran.asp.

After 911 US Red Cross decided to spend some of the money that was collected specifically for the 911 victims elsewhere, I am not saying that this will happen for the Bam Earthquake but the possibility does exist.

Caroline, thanks for the great support from your side and for providing the info to us...

Khosrow jan the idea is to help by giving your money to the major providers like redcross or iranian sefarats in any country, as long as you have helped then you can feel good about yourself that you have helped in a way what happenes with your help where the money goes whoes hand it goes to its not in our control so we have to wish for the best that all the money goes to the victims of Bam...

We here in arizona are trying to setup a concert in 2 weeks or so to free of charge for everyone to come in but in return we will ask everyone to donate as much as they can that day for the victims in Bam.

Caroline thanks again for the info, and if you don't mind I will put that announcement on the front page of my site.... let me know asap

        Thanks Reza for the support.

Where ever you donate Khosrow, it is so nice that you have helped. You should donate wherever you feel is a safe place to do so. In fact, the more you know about the organizaton, the better. I am sure there are many Iranian organizations that are very good as well.

If you did donate, please e-mail or send the info to the address I listed and I will be happy to send you a Siavash album.

Thanks so much for your thoughtfullness,

        Caroline

I completely agree with both of you that there are many Iranian organizations that could also do a great job. However living far from any Iranian population center, I am not very familiar with them. In no way I intended to suggest utilizing any one organization over another (especially an Iranian one). I apologize if my message could be interpreted as such.

I want to thank both Tapesh and Valley Center Studios. You and people like you with your efforts have done a great job of encouraging and rallying us (Iranians) and informing the people outside of the Iranian community of the level of devastation and the need of the victims of the quake.

I just heard that US government has decided to ease financial sanctions against Iran to help with the supply of aid to the earthquake victims. I am certain that this gesture, in part, is due to humanitarian nature of the American public. It also could signal that the administration is quite aware of the potential political power of a united Iranian community of 2 million plus people in an election year.

            Khosrow, thanks for your feedback:

I 'tapesh' and Valley Center 'siavash/caroline' and hundreds of other online supporters will do our best to keep the iranian community tight and strong. you're right I heard the same thing, US and tens of other countries are doing their best to support the victims, this has become a global emergency in away....

            every dollar counts regardless....

            thanks
