  • Media Troubles In India

A fight broke out at Elizabeth Hurley's wedding celebrations in India.

The scuffle, between members of the Indian media and security staff, started at the gates of the Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur, where Hurley and Arun Nayar held their traditional Indian wedding celebrations yesterday.

At least 10 journalists suffered cuts and bruises as police and security guards clashed with paparazzi trying to photograph the event, dubbed the "Big Fat Indian Wedding" by local media.

"The great wedding ends in chaos," the Hindustan Times daily newspaper declared in a headline.

Police and organizers of the event declined to comment on the incident.

Hurley and Nayar are expected to fly out of the city later today, and about 50 police constables are deployed at the airport.

The couple married in a civil ceremony at Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, last Friday and held a blessing and party at the castle the following night.

Exclusive media rights were sold to celebrity magazine Hello! for a sum reported to cover the seven-figure cost of the nuptials.

A scuffle between journalists and security guards marred the Indian wedding of Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar, prompting local authorities to deploy extra police to the airport in Jodhpur for the celebrity couple's departure.
The 41-year-old British actress-model and Nayar, a 42-year-old Indian businessman, were married Friday in a traditional Hindu ceremony at a palace-turned-hotel in the western Indian city of Jodhpur. It was their second wedding in a week. The couple were first wed in a private civil ceremony in a castle outside London.

The fight began outside Mehrangarh fort, the venue for a dinner, after a television reporter was slapped by a security guard as journalists tried to chase the celebrity couple's car.

The fight began outside Mehrangarh fort, the venue for a dinner, after a television reporter was slapped by a security guard as journalists tried to chase the celebrity couple's car.

Angry journalists then broke through one of the security cordons, setting off a fist fight with the security guards that lasted nearly an hour. No major injuries were reported.

Hurley appeared in the "Austin Powers" and "Bedazzled" films, and for several years was the international face of Estee Lauder cosmetics. Her 4-year-old son, Damian, accompanied the couple on their trip to India.
