LOS ANGELES - Eleven Iranian nationals were charged Wednesday for their alleged roles in an international opium ring, authorities said.

The men and women, arrested in Los Angeles and surrounding areas, face counts of drug trafficking, money laundering and loan fraud, said Jose Martinez, spokesman for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

The group, allegedly the Los Angeles cell of an international drug ring, has been under investigation since German and U.S. authorities seized about 271 kilograms of opium in Frankfurt, Germany, in December 2003, Martinez said.

Couriers allegedly smuggled opium to the United States from Germany after obtaining it from Iran. Millions of dollars in drug profits were then laundered, wired overseas, and used to buy real estate and luxury cars in the Los Angeles area, Martinez said.

Only small amounts of opium were seized in Wednesday's arrests, Martinez said. A twelfth suspect was being sought.

Those arrested include Mehrdad Lari, 47, of Santa Monica, Ali Mojaddam, 32, of Los Angeles, Kamran Atarzadeh, 53, of Los Angeles, Faramarz Bokhour, 55, of Los Angeles, Marjan Sarshar, 47, of Santa Monica, Bijan Kohanzad, 43, of Brentwood, Houshyar Babelpour, 44, of Woodland Hills, Benham Azimi, 45, of Pasadena, Mehdi Ilkani, 58, of Santa Monica, Fariborz Ahl, 44, of Los Angeles and Moussa Abadiah, 55, of Beverly Hills.

اين سومين باری است که پارلمان کويت تلاش می کند اين لايحه را از تصويب بگذراند. خاندان حاکم و اعضای ليبرال پارلمان مايلند که به زنان حقوق سياسی اعطا شود ولی محافظه کاران و اسلامگرايان مکررا اين تلاش ها را مانع شده اند

به گزارش ايلنا ، سرهنگ "زئيو راز" يكى از خلبانان اسرائيلى مشاركت كننده در حمله به تأسيسات "اوسيراك" عراق، با اشاره به تخريب اين تأسيسات در سال 1981 گفت: در دهه هشتاد، عراق، تهديد محسوب ميشد و اكنون ايران تهديد به شمار ميرود.
زئيو گفت: زمان براى اقدام بر ضد تهران و برنامه هستهاى اين كشور بهسرعت نزديك ميشود.
به گزارش شبكه ايبيسي، وى تصريح كرد: زمانى كه آنها به تسليحات هستهاى دست يابند متأسفانه هيچ كارى نميتوانيم انجام دهيم و بايد پيش از اينكه آنها به سلاح دست يابند اقدام كنيم.
شبكه ايبيسى نوشت: با اين حال، حمله پيشگيرانه امروز اسرائيل، ميتواند نسبت به سال 1981 خطرناكتر باشد.
اين شبكه تلويزيونى در ادامه اين مصاحبه، اعلام كرد: ايران هشدار داده كه اگر تأسيسات هستهاى اين كشور مورد حمله قرار گيرد اسرائيل را با موشكهاى بالستيك خود مورد اصابت قرار ميدهد.

Saddam underwear photo angers US .

The US military says it is investigating "aggressively" after a picture appeared in a British paper showing Saddam Hussein half naked.
The Sun newspaper's front page image showed the former Iraqi president in a pair of white underpants.

Other pictures showed Saddam Hussein washing his trousers, shuffling around and sleeping.

The US said the photos appeared to breach Geneva Convention rules on the humane treatment of prisoners of war.

The conventions say countries must protect prisoners of war in their custody from "public curiosity".
