Born: 14 August 1968 in London
Personal: Persian Mother Mina, British Father Peter. Married to actor Adam Beason. Daughter Gemma & greyhounds, Leo and Zoe.

    Occupation: Model & Actress
Claim to Fame: Lead role in TV Hit J.A.G. Voted #20 in FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2004. All around Beauty.

    Early Years:

Born in London to an architect father and a nurse mother, Catherine was always ambitious and full of life. At the age of 2, after her parents divorced, her mother Mina decided to take them to Los Angeles, where Catherine grew up. Learning Farsi at an early age, Catherine was good in school, but also had an interest in acting, appearing in various TV commercials along the way. After graduating high school, Catherine entered UCLA to study Biology. She soon started modelling and was taken into a world where she decided to make her career.

Her first modelling job was in Japan. Thereafter, Catherine returned to Los Angeles, having decided to pursue an acting career.

    Model to Actress

Catherine soon found herself cast in smaller roles and guest appearances on shows like "Hercules", "Dream On", and "Friends", including several commercials. She was also the nude body double for Isabella Rossellini in "Death Becomes Her" (1992). It was on the set of this movie where she met her future husband, Adam Beason, who was director Robert Zemeckis's assistant.

Eventually her three-line part on the show J.A.G., a military drama on CBS, led to the starring role in the same series. Catherine plays the part of Maj. Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie. With Catherine's arrival, the show's ratings climbed to a proud 20th position in the Nielsen's rating. Over the years, Catherinel has been featured in numerous other movies, including "Men of War" and "Bruce Almighty." Her other television credits include "The Time Shifters," "Misery Loves Company" and the television movie "Cab to Canada," on CBS.

Catherine has a love for extreme sports such as kickboxing, snowboarding, riding motorcycles, and wakeboarding. Her mother is still by her side, acting as her personal assistant and mentor. Catherine gave birth to a baby girl, named Gemma on 16 April 2003. She has also been voted in the FHM's 100 Sexiest Women in the World three times, climbing to #20 in 2004.

Sometimes I think the story of how I landed the role of Mac on J.A.G. sounds like some kind of Hollywood fairy tale, like Lana Turner being discovered at the counter at Schraft's. But it's true!

I had had one brief guest spot on J.A.G., in 1996. Well, it was more of a cameo really - I had three lines. I played Lt. Dianne Schonke, an old girlfriend of Harm's. In my second scene, Dianne was dead, and Harm was suspected of killing her.

Flash forward several months. The show had been canceled by NBC, and the producers were looking for ways to keep it going. Luckily, CBS picked it up. I heard through the grapevine that J.A.G. was looking for a new female sidekick for Harm.

I knew it was a long shot, but I had to take it: I wrote a letter to the executive producer, Donald Bellisario, stating that I was right for the part. I'll be forever grateful that Donald not only remembered me, but also realized that having Mac resemble Dianne would add a powerful dramatic subtext to Harm and Mac's relationship.

J.A.G. has found a wonderful home on CBS, and the ratings have soared. I guess the moral of the story is that you shouldn't be afraid of taking a chance - whether writing a letter like I did, or making a shift in the dramatic direction of an entire show, like Donald Bellisario did. You've just got to go for it!

HELP is an amazing literacy and mentoring project founded in Hollywood and spreading across the country. It's a completely volunteer program (no cost to the students!)

It works. Plain and simple. I've seen the results and use the study techniques myself. Illiteracy is a huge obstacle to achieving your goals and this program has the solution.

      I was a tomboy...still am - I love cars, motorcycles, extreme sports.

I am addicted to technology, gadgets, cell phones, PDA's.

I've been with my amazing hubby for 15 years!!

I love being a mom! It's hard to believe you actually fall more in love every day.

I was torn between art and medical or engineering school - I chose Biomedical engineering (don't ask!) and then left school to model.

I was too shy to act, so I took an acting class to express myself better...it worked! (And I was hooked)

I want to learn to fly helicopters and planes one day!

I love to paint - though my favorite kind of painting these days is with my daughter on her little plastic easel.

I love the way acting communicates to so many on so many different levels.

I love to help! There's nothing like knowing you made someone's life better, richer, happier.
