  • Change Your Style

Are you feeling a little bored with your wardrobe? Does your current style seem a little bland? Here are some simple ways to begin a new wardrobe...and some tips to keep your wallet full!

    Steps

Get the basics. Basics are needed to begin your new wardrobe. They're more versatile and can be worn with nearly anything color and style wise.

Buy basic tops like tanks, beaters, camisoles, crew necks, v necks, and scoop neck tee/tanks. Just using these tops you could layer them into something totally you. Buy neutral colors like brown, black, grey, and/or white. After you've developed your neutrals move forward to color that appeals to you. You could create very cute color combinations with the options. You don't have to spend a lot to buy basics; shop at stores such as Old Navy, Wetseal, Forever 21, Abercrombie, and Gap which are pretty much known for selling basic products. You could even see some packs at Walgreens (atleast I have). If you have money to spend go to American Apparel, Ralph Lauren, J. Crew.

Move your way up to buy more funky tops you like and would fit well in your new style. They have many styles, fits, and funky prints that could help build a successful stylish wardrobe.

Get your perfect pair of jeans. They're really versatile and simple and perfect for any season. Try dark wash or raw jeans which look more sleek and professional, and are easier to dress up. You want a wide selection in jeans so add boot cuts, skinny's, flares, relaxed, and low rise. Like they always say there's no such thing as having too much jeans. Shop for your jeans in places such as Levi's, Gap, Abercrombie. For lighter pockets check in outlet department stores like Burlington's Coat Factory, Macy*s.

Choose a s***t that you like. Something that appeals to you length-wise and style-wise. Knee-length s***ts are very feminine and cute depending on the style. They have plenty of styles of s***ts. They could be pretty and feminine, or sleek and sophisticated. Mini's are good too if you're comfortable in them. If you don't look right in a minis***t, don't buy one. Your style may seem slutty not cute.

Buy Oxfords. They're very professional and clean. They've become very popular, but they're pretty much a fashion staple. Even if Oxfords don't fit into your style they're a must. A closet essential. Get them in solid colors like white, or blue. They also come in patterns like vertical, or horizontal stripes, candy stripes, various colors, and fits. They may come in handy for more dressier occasions. Shop for these almost anywhere including stores Ralph Lauren, Gap, American Eagle, and H&M.

Get a cardigan. They're much needed for fall to keep warm on those cool crisp days and nights. Get neutral colors like browns, and creams. Cardigans comes in a good range of lengths and styles. Sweaters are good too. They have them in short sleeves, long sleeves, and lots of different neck lines which are perfect for any style whether you're punk, or prep. Be sure to check at the Gap, Old Navy and Urban Outfitters, J. Crew, American Appreal, Ralph Lauren.

Try a jacket or blazer. These could be worn over almost anything considered a top.

Shop for shoes. A girls favorite accessory. Flats are perfect for every day.

They're very simple and versatile, and come in plenty of styles and colors.

They look best with bare feet, but if you could pull them off with funky socks, go for it! Start off with solid colors then work on up to prints. Also buy funky tennis shoes for gym. They're a must in closets also.

Accessorize. They could make a plain outfit more funky and more stylish. It's nice to have basic jewelry like diamond stud earrings or pearls (earrings and necklaces). Bangles are needed also. Sunglasses (which should be worn every season), belts, head bands, rings, head scarves (which can also be used as belts). You could buy all of this at Claire's, Icing, and Hot Topic.

    Tips

Buy what you like, not what you think you like. If you don't like a purchase much you won't be satified with what you've got.

Try on clothes before you buy them. You won't be happy with your purchases if you can't fit in them, or you don't like the color of them on your complexion. It saves time and money.

If you have too many of something such as purses, tank tops etc, there's no need to buy any more. Learn not to buy un-needed things. You'll really save money on the things you do need. Also learn to dress up the things you have into your new style. Alter them if needed.

Shop at vintage stores. They have really awesome stuff! Thrifting is also great for both your wallet and your style. Keep an open mind when shopping in a thrift store. It hard to find a peice you actually like so scourage for those gems.

Ease into your style or else you may seem like a poser. Don't just do it because someone else is doing it. Do it because you want to benefit your style for yourself.

If you're known for being a fashion-forward person, stick with your style!

You're the type everyone style admires. They love how you could make plain white socks into a funky, bright outfit. Girls that are not fashion forward take notes (not literally) from the fashion forward person. Maybe some of their ideas fits to create/build your indivisuality

Be confident in your new style. It's your style, so you can wear whatever you feel like. They key to looking good is confidence, and some lip gloss.

Change in Part to Revamp Your Style
          By Kathryn D'Imperio

Want to change your hairstyle without drastically chopping your locks? Before you shell out major cash for a fresh style, consider modeling a new do with a simple variation on the way you part your hair.

Though there is not necessarily a good or a bad way to part your hair, several mainstream options are easy to achieve. What matters most is that you are comfortable and confident with the style you choose. If you cannot immediately decide on your preferred style, try the following, or make up your own!

A very common method of parting the hair involves the natural part, which runs right down the center of one’s head. If this is your current style and you are ready for a change, try to form a new part a bit to the left or the right of your current part.

Parting your hair on your own is a cinch! If you aren’t familiar with doing so but want to try a new look, first comb your hair as if you are going to throw it back into a ponytail. Then take a thin comb and trace a straight line along your scalp where your hair meets your forehead to the back of your head. Separate the hair on either side of the new part and gently brush or comb it down until it lays smoothly. If you find difficulty with this, you may want to introduce a small dab of a non-sticky styling product to your hair to calm it down. Also, if your hair is very accustomed to a certain style, you may have to “train” it to respond to the new part by brushing in the desired direction and adding styling products when necessary.

To keep hair healthy and strong, it is important to schedule a trim regularly (or trim it yourself if you are scissors-inclined!) to prevent split ends. If you choose to have your stylist trim your mane for you, she should ask how you part your hair if she does not already know. It is important to “cut with the part” to keep your hair even and natural looking.

If you only want to change your look for a night, a chic zigzag part will stand you out from the crowd. Using your comb, simply trace the part back and forth from your forehead to the back of the head. Then separate the sections so that they lay evenly on either side of your head.

Though you already have a comb on hand, a handy, inexpensive tool makes the zigzag process a bit easier. The “Part Pizazz” is a tool with a point on one end and arms that swing open to separate the sections of hair when you are finished. To design the zigzag you merely trace the desired pattern on your head as if using a pen or pencil and a sheet of paper. Hairagami® produces the “Part Pizazz.”

Whether you are enjoying your new look indefinitely or just for a night, remember not to run your hands through your hair too much as it may disrupt the style. Be bold, be conservative-be YOU-have fun and make a statement. Make sure you are confident in your new style as you sport it in public. Then bask in the glow of attention as those close to you notice something is just a bit different about you. Switching your part can make you feel fresh, energized and sexy.
          Enjoy it!
