Yes I admit whatever shown was true and authentic. This is a pure socio-economic problem you cannot entirely blame on religion and it was happening when Gandhi was fighting against British for our independence and before. The grandma's you seen in the video are the testimony that Indians HAD such cruel practices and most of them was left in street not in the name of religion but because of financial problem poor people has to face in their daily lives, mindless creatures.
Did u seen a single women in the video atleast in 40's? nah isnt? it really shows these problems belong to old days, sorry your concerns are too late.
Do u know who is Indra Gandhi is?
Do u know what is going on where Jesus and Prophet Mohammad born and wandered?

and i do not think it is entirely socio economic thats bull to blame it on socio economic
socio economic encourages it or nurtures it but it is not entirely that
there are so many more other society's that have the same problems and respond differently either better or worse
i think it is cheap to just label and blame everything as socio economic
also so what about other religion i am sure that there could be other community's that are even aithies that act better or worse or other community's that believe in g-d that act better or worse
like honor killing it is religion based but it is more culturally practiced
anyways my conclusion is that it is more cultural than socio economic, culture and tradition is much stronger than socio economic
an example is look at the the london bomber they lived in a good socio economic enviorment yet there jihadist culture persuaded them to wanne kill innocent people
G-d determines who walks into your life....It is up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.

It's not cultural or traditional, are u out of ur mind? a mother is a mother where ever you are, do u think people want to leave their mother on streets to beg? there is no Hindu ethics, tradition or cruel culture to leave widows in streets. whether you like it or not we don't have such practices now.
Our society responded to the problem with responsibility, by having homes for the senior citizens who left in the street.
Yes its a pure economic problem the rich old ones ends up in good homes where they are taken care of until their end and the poor ones are left in street. where did the culture and tradition comes from?
ur point is right if you r living before 20th century.
peace.

friend you have to day some of the wealthies people neglect there familys and their parents
i used to work a retierment home
some of these people who were there their kids were worth hundreds of millions yet they never once in the course of the 8 months i was there took there mom out or anything
on the other side look at someplace's in the middle east especially the arab countries the most povrish familys take care of their parants
look at the jews of ww2 gettos many died trying care for the elders and another many gave up the elders to save their kids a bit more
i think its both
