If indeed a gene was responsible for the behaviour it would have been eliminated by natural selection?

As the battle between proponents of intelligent design and evolution rages particularly in US there is something rather odd to make a note of. Considering homosexuality to be a deviation from what is normal and natural has made strange bedfellows form religious right and evolutionary scientists.

The opposition to homosexuality in Koran for example could hardly be stronger considering the story of "Loot" society being destroyed by God because of their homosexual acts. On the other hand natural selection aspect of Darwin's theory of evolution stands at odds with propagation and survival of Homosexuality.

The notion of a "selfish Gene" that has but one goal to replicate and propagate itself fundamentally renders the homosexual behaviour unfavored. Now, if you are like me were born in Iran and went to school over there chances are your knowledge of evolution theory is pretty slim.

Ironically same might be true if you went to school in US depending what state you were born in. That I use as a disclaimer for my next conjecture which seems a plausible argument form a new comer's perspective like myself.

Here is the conjecture. As you may know there has been a discourse going on for quite sometime between those who advocate that homosexuality has its root in genetics vs those who claim environment has more to do with it. Now, wouldn't it be true that if indeed a gene was responsible for the behaviour it would have been eliminated by natural selection? Doesn't it vouch for homosexuality to be an influence of the environment then?!

I just leave you with two thoughts. First is one that says that if there is such thing as a Gene responsible for homosexuality it will eventually be removed from the gene pool (Evolution takes a long time to work it way) and second is the fact that such a Gene could propagate through heterosexual activity!

I just can't understand homosexuality is that a disability?

For a minute there I thought you wrote this thing and my heart skipped a beat...lol... Just kidding just kidding.

Because of its social implications, evolution is a subject highly charged with emotion, and much of the literature on it suffers from unspoken and often untested assumptions. It is very difficult to discuss the theory with objectivity. Discussion of it tends to spill over to virtually every area of discourse in the humanities and social sciences: Sociology, Economics, Politics, Theology, Philosophy, Psychology, Anthropology, Literature, and Music...believe it or not.

First we must distinguish between Biological evolution and Social evolution:

One does not care about right or wrong but the latter is very definite in ethical progress of Evolution. With advancement of our understanding of consciousness, such ethical impressions can change the very DNA of human and change the course of natural evolution. Look they are still trying to figure out Cromagnums and Hominids.

New theory of Quantum physics is precise in proving that our beliefs and understanding of our society has a direct impact on our Genes. More importantly our consciousness creates our genes.

If a society breeds homosexuals..who is going to procreate and produce new warriors of Jihad??? In order for Islam to grow, they need more people, that is why they keep women bare foot and pregnant. You will rarely see Birth Control in Islamic societies. Henceforth poverty and lack of proper education.

Thus the moral issue of Islam and homosexuality. Over time and with enough influence on collective consciousness, homosexuality had actually declined. Biologically and Socially. So one might say they influenced the evolution, however temporary their actions may be.

Now... "Biological evolution, simply put, is descent with modification. This definition covers small-scale evolution (changes in gene frequency in a population from one generation to the next) and large-scale evolution (the descent of different species from a common ancestor over many generations). Evolution helps us to understand the history of life.

Biological evolution is not simply a matter of change over time. Lots of things change over time: trees lose their leaves, mountain ranges rise and erode, but they aren't examples of biological evolution because they don't involve descent through genetic inheritance."

The central idea of biological evolution is that all life on Earth shares a common ancestor, just as you and your cousins share a common grandmother (or beebee according to abadani69..lol).

Through the process of descent with modification, the common ancestor of life on Earth gave rise to the fantastic diversity that we see documented in the fossil record and around us today. Evolution means that we're all distant cousins: humans and oak trees, hummingbirds and whales...this has give rise to homosexuals argument that since we are all part of the same fabric then homosexuals have a different animal instincts than heterosexuals...rubbish I tell you. As though God or Nature is confused at the order of things...lol, no its only Man who is confused.

Though the bigger question has always been "where does God fit into evolution", a simple answer would be.....everywhere!!!!!!! Man may be able to temporary modify a gene here and there, and in smallness of his mind he thinks that he has succeeded in influencing the evolution. Not knowing he has created Involution...a down spiral.

However, soon (after a complete wipe out) things are back to where they suppose to be and they will continue as such until Man decides to change the course once again through vanity, ignorance and ego driven separateness from everything. We go down so we may come back up again..because:

Universe (God, creator..whatever you want to call it) is expanding and there is not a thing anyone can do about it in a long run. If we were to look at homosexuals as just another one of nature's amazing diversity, all of the defensive actions and arguments will start to look ridiculous as they very well are.

jeeez diversity among same species? what do u mean? I never heard/read/viewed mammals other than humans having sexual relationship with same sex. I always believed larger portion of human being is purely animal if we are animals we would be doing what nature taught to us, but against the nature is maybe the outcome of social evils even a physical disability.

Thus the moral issue of Islam and homosexuality. Over time and with enough influence on collective consciousness, homosexuality had actually declined. Biologically and Socially. So one might say they influenced the evolution, however temporary their actions may be.
I don't believe this, no substantial facts. I find it increasing among male and females and who knows maybe being more humane makes these things.

fundamental question If you believe in science how come you beleive in god? they are opp ends.

Aummmm...scientist are amongst most spiritual people around. In a conversation between Tagore and Albert Einstein, Tagore said to Albert "now I see why you are more spiritual than I am"...here is some of their conversations:

In regards to the "lets do it like they do in the discovery channel", Homosexuality in animal kingdom has been noticed for past 200 years..where have you been???? However animals do it for dominating reasons and human do it for fun ( I think).
In animal kingdom homosexuality actually increases with increase in single female population...how do you like that? Here are some animals FYI that have a great amount of homosexuality: Orang-utans, Japanese Macaques, Common Gulls, King penguins and more than 40 other species.

On the g0d vs darvin duel, i gotta go with the sharpshooter... I mean poor darvin - evolution bless him? - is gonna be in for one short *** duel. As for the homosexuality and the animals and darvin... Well... you can't help not to think of a threesome.

ps. you gotta wonder which came first creation, then evolution, then creation then evo-crea war or creation, then some more creation, then some more creation, and then the creation of evolution and the evo-crea war.

                My pleasure Indian jaan.

I did not enlighten you....enlightment comes to those who seek it.

Of all existence I am the source, the continuation and the end.
I am the germ, the growth and the decay.
All things and creatures I sent forth.
I suppose them while they yet stand without, and when the dream of seperatin ends, I call their return onto myself.
I am the life, the death, the ressurection and the way that leads beyond...there is none else.
