Dear all of Tapesh.com Entertainment Forum:
I along with my friend Babak a musician from DC have decided to start a monthly news in regards to the Iranian Music Industry and keep all of you up to date.
First off I'll start with a little Dariush news:
Dariush was married (3rd time) last month in a very small, private ceremony in Paris. "I have personally met his new wife and she is very sweet, caring, and compassionate". (Babak-Musician) In October we will be touring in Europe. Should be fun. As far as a DC concert I hear it could come as early as Dec/Jan '04. Dariush's upcoming album (not yet been named) is still in production and should be released sometime in the spring. He has a song which we have started to perform called "Vadeyeh mah, labeh darya". Lyrics by Maryam Heidarzadeh, and Music by Ramin Zamani, and David Betsamo (formerly with BlackCats). This song is going to be the hit song of the album. There is talk of a behind the scenes DVD about Dariush. For those of you who came to the Dariush concert at GW, there was a camera crew recording parts of the concert. This DVD will contain footage from various concert including the incredible Los Angeles concert @ Universal Amphitheater. Footage of us on the road (Airplane/Hotel), and band rehersals. I am not sure when or even IF this will be released.
GOOGOOSH NEWS!!!!!!
According to Babak-Musician:
Now for some Googoosh news. This past Googoosh concert October 4th MCI Center was VERY different then the past Googoosh concerts. The band was different. The musicians that were performing with Googoosh this time around were THE BEST musicians we have in the Iranian music industry. The band leader was non other then Manochehr Cheshm-Azar on Piano. Armen on keyboards (Strings), Robert Noghli (Ebi's drummer and band leader) on drums, Ramon on Guitar (Yanni/Ricky Martin/and many others), Pedro Eustache on Flute (Yanni), and Vik on bass (Ebi). This band will be by far one of the best bands ever put together, I truly believe musically this time Googoosh's music shined. Googoosh has also changed management. She is working with an American company called Nederlander. Nederlander produces many big American productions, including Ricky Martin, so expect a MUCH better production then before.
Now on to Black Cats.
Yes, Kamran and Hooman ARE leaving the band to fulfill other musical interests. They will stay in the Persian scene as "Kamran and Hooman" but will also be jumping ship to the American market. They have been offered deals from various major American recording labels. They will be going for a R&B/Hip-hop feel to their music. Again, I have heard cuts of their new stuff and it sounds good. As for the other members of Black Cats, Shahbal has yet to decide whether they will bring new members or retire.
There are rumors of an Ebi concert coming to Washington soon, I will let you guys know.
SHADMEHR AGHILI AND SAMAN:
Now on to everyones favorite, Shadmehr. last I heard about Shadmehr is that Shadmehr Aghili and Saman were roomates living together in Toronto, Canada. It is Rumored that they are working on an album TOGETHER. "That should sound good because I have worked with Saman before and he has an AMAZING talent" (Babak-Musician) Awesome singer and keyboard player. Shadmehr shares the same talent so lets see what comes out of this.
