Scientific American, Feb, 2007 we may be using a method that allows the transmission of electrical energy wirelessly in the near future. Although this technology has not been completely demonstrated, the science is being worked out by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The science behind this amazing idea is using magnetic fields and their frequencies to send energy to the matching electronic device.
Here is how it works:They are working to be able to send this magnetic frequency from approximately a few meters. Now this might not be good news to those who use pace makers, but to the rest of us, this sounds very interesting. I know when utilizing my laptop, having an electrical cord strung out across my living room floor was not the freedom I imagined. Since almost every device now uses some type of wireless technology whether it is Bluetooth, infrared, Wi-Fi or the rare SonicLink, this may be the last frontier in device freedom especially considering the lithium ion battery is not showing many signs of improvement.
