  • Download MP3 to an iPod

Downloading songs onto an iPod Nano or any other iPod is very easy and simple. All it takes is a few tools and some time.

See if your iPod came with an installation CD. If it did, download the iTunes software on to your computer.

If it didn't, get iTunes for your computer for free. Simply visit http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/.

Set up the iPod on the computer you plan to use it on.

An iPod set up with a Macintosh will need to have all the songs deleted in order to use it on a Windows operating system.

This only needs to be done once if you switch computers, but just to make less hassle, try to use the iPod on only one computer.

Make sure you disconnect the iPod properly to avoid problems.
    Don't download music illegally.

It seems to work with only one computer at a time, meaning you can only use one of the computers you have access to with it. Try to find a different mp3 player if this is a problem for you!

    Watch YouTube on Your iPod

With a few minutes of work, it's easy to watch YouTube videos on your iPod video. Here's how.

    Windows:

You can try downloading first with download youtube. No software required.

Download and install the free Firefox web browser.

Install the Greasemonkey extension for Firefox.

Go to http://www.userscripts.org/ and install the Download YouTube Video script.

The next time you watch YouTube, you'll see a Download Video option beneath the screen. Click it to save the file to your computer. You might want to rename the video to something descriptive.

An alternative method for steps 1-4 that works for all browsers is to copy the YouTube URL for the video you want to download and then go to YouTubeX.com or youtubevideosdownload.com. Paste the URL to extract the file from YouTube and click "Get Video!" to save it to your computer.

Install and launch the FLV to Video Converter or use Zamzar.com to convert youtube video to ipod directly.

Select Apple - iPod from the Output Container option, and then the output video codec H.264/AVC. Set size to 320 x 240. If you get an error message when converting, unclick the Use DirectShow button.

Drag the converted file into iTunes and it's ready for viewing.

    Mac OS X

Go to a YouTube video page, wait for it to load, and open Safari's Activity window.

Double-click the URL of the video file - it's the largest one - to download it.
Rename the file to something more descriptive.
