Azizam, why do you think they call them axis of evil. These Moselm clerics have created the moslem religion to what it is today. Full of hate and bigotry. That is not what Ghoran says...at least the earlier version of it...

"O Humankind! We have created you male and female and have divided you into nations and tribes that you recognize each other. The best of you in the sight of God is the one most socially aware (taqwa- literally - "extremely careful")." Koran 49:13

There has been so many changes made to ghoran that it is mind bogling. Today's moslem is not what Ghoran strived for. As a matter of fact todays' moslem are the infidels...and I can prove it.

I agree with both of you; emotional abuse doesn't justify physical abuse.

so what do you think is an alternative to prevent the emotional abuse from wife to husband on social issues? if we admit the problem and find a solution, we can help reform current Islam.
Take him and cut him out in little stars,
and he will make the face of heaven so fine,
that all the world will be in love with night,
and pay no worship to the garish sun

      - Shakespeare

LOL...Zubin I had thought much higher of u than that...you mention wife to husband...as though husbands are the victims here

none the less, I believe it clearly states that no matter what your gender, the one who is socially aware will have the stronger position....but at no time it calls for any abuse at all. As you may very well agree...we only have one freedom...and that is freedom of choice. You don't like it don't do it, you don't like someone you can always walk away...why force your ways on someone else?...either gender.

Of course all of that said human social awareness in that part of the world or that particular religion (at this point in time) is still in infant stages of evolution. Lets not forget that at the time of Night Templers one million women were slaughtered, Salem witch burnining, and some jewish sects (dis)regard for women.

If we were to assume that we are all human beings regadless of the disposition of our bodies (men, women, gay), and throughly grasp that the infinit intellegent lives within and through us all...that we are all connected at the basic level of our beings...things would look a little different, a shift in perception will makes us look at things in a different way and wipe the previous illusion of seperation from our minds. Its a matter of states of consciousness. Lower states of consciousness calls for lower standards...and I can tell u with certainty the powers that hold moslems together like it that way...more control.

Let me ask you as an Iranian guy...what is your outlook on the women issues??? particularley in todays islamic world? Not as an Zartoshti...but as an Iranian man.

what he is doing is agreeing with what you said and hoing furthur to explore the otherside as well
he is just beiing objective trying to give equal weights to all sides

at least thats what i think he is doing

G-d determines who walks into your life....It is up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.

I knew I was susceptible to that reaction. You're right, but partly. There are two types of male physical abusers. There is a type that abuses over needless and sometimes even immoral issues, for instance not letting his/her wife out the house.

But there is another type of abuser. He does not abuse over immoral issues. He abuses over genuine problems. Here is where things get sensitive. Here we have to be willing to acknowledge other forms of abuse against men. It is very possible that some men go through certain types of abuse socially. Men are known to be extremely susceptible to stress. Woman are also shown to often emotionally abuse their partners.

In these cases, it is possible that the male is right, but is immoral in the sense that he does not know a better way of solving the problem. He may borrow from religious text to victimize himself, leading him to the solution.

My point is that women are part of the solution in the second case. The first case is cultural, but in the second case there may be social issues which if addressed can legitimately prevent the abuse, or at least complement other initiatives such as educational and rehabilitation initiatives.

But I did answer it. My view as an Iranian male is that in some cases the issue is a combination of a social problem and a problem with Islamic interpretation.
