Ahoora is a Progressive Thrash Metal Band. Although the rock music is still banned in Islamic Iran, the band could release their second album “All in Blood with You” last September. They have performed the first official metal gig with vocals in Iran; and since then, all their performances have been devastated by the authorities. Also the band was forced to reject the invitation of Evergreen Music Festival (in Washington) because of exit laws. Recently they signed to British label, Real2Can Records, which will release their self titled debut album worldwide.

At the beginning of Iranian New Year I present my Interview with 'Ahoora Metal Band' to PersianMirror readers, and wish them a happy and prosperous Iranian new year ….
Milad Molavi: Thank you for accepting to do an Interview with me, would you please introduce the band.
Milad T.: Sure. Alireza Saeidian is the lead guitar player, Mohamad Baei is the bass player and finally Ashkan Hadavand is the vocalist.
MM: Tell us a little about how you got started with music?
MT: I guess it was 6 years ago that I decided to obtain a music career. And just little after, we formed Ahoora.
MM: Please describe your special trainings and educations in Music?
MT: Actually I got no academic studies; and it hasn’t been further than some major guitar playing sources. Of course covering is always vital and helpful.
MM: What is your motivation to music ?
MT: This is a hard question indeed! I believe there’d be no fine answer. There is no motivation to something; it is just some overwhelming voodoo maybe… Sorry but I guess any description would sound a little bit fuzzy!
MM: Without academic training , what does it take to become a musician and how does it feel?
MT: Actually I don’t know what really happens in terms of academic considerations. But I can tell you there is always a certain challenge involved. It often happens that you’re floating through all the composing possibilities; and it feels like a mystic journey into something unknown. There is always something to reveal.
MM: Who are your favorite American musicians, and do their influences reveal on your work?
MT: There are lots of them of course; but in terms of influence, I must name Iced Earth, Nevermore, Metallica, Death, Savatage etc.
MM: Where and when was your first performance?
MT: On May 28th 2005. It was in an audition hall of some music institution.
MM: What is the sweetest memory of your professional life?
MT: Actually our recent record is my sweetest memory, If you could call that a memory of course!
MM: What is the bitter memory of your professional life?
MT: Cancellation of our last gig, September 2006.we had rehearsed for 40 days and has several problems during that period. But 24 hours before the gig, the authorities cancelled the show.
MM: What was the best reaction to your professional activity?
MT: We were invited to perform at Evergreen Music Festival in Washington. And of course some reviews have been really flattering. Ultimate Metal called “All in Blood with you”, an incredible release and Progressive Rock & Progressive Metal from Brazil called it A surprisingly quality metal masterpiece. Fortunately there have been some positive reactions upon our work.
MM: Did you have cooperation with international non-Iranian artists?
MT: Yes. We worked with Ida Norheim-Hagtun on our latest album, All in Blood with You. She actually sang on the last song, “Hunger Within”.
It was a real pleasure and of course a big opportunity, and let me tell you that she did an incredible job.

MM: What are some of the upcoming project you have planned in the near future?
MT: Music wise, we are now involved in a Book/Cd project which belongs to Cypher Arts. It is the music for some comics based on pirate tales, and there are several bands involved around the glob. We are doing Jean L'Olonnais, a legendary French pirate. And In long terms considerations I must admit immigration is a major goal for us.
MM: What would be a big dream-come-true for you?
MT: Finally being able to live as musician in a free land. Touring with Ahoora would be the dream itself!
MM: What is your idea about Globalization?
MT: I think in many ways it is something irresistible and also vital. For example in terms of culture it could lead to a real revolution. I’ve no exact idea about the economics, but I know there have been always strong protests.
MM: Desert Island, three things, what do you take?
MT: Weed, Music, Movies.
MM: What is your message to our Readers?
MT: Thanks for reading this. Stay true and spread the word!
MM: We appreciate you taking the time to do this interview with PersianMirror.
MT: Thank you very much for the support. It was a pleasure.
