On a rainy Friday afternoon in Tehran, 6 yr old Parisa, dressed herself up as a queen and gave a speech to her people, encouraging them to fight against the enemy. The tears running from her eyes, she expressed her love for the people of imaginary land…..and that’s when her talent for acting was revealed.
She was a quiet child, observant and sensitive. Parents were astonished by the many facial expression she demonstrated while expressing her feelings. Always known to be “more than her age” and extremely mature. Being the first child to Shohreh and Hormoz DeFaie, she was loved and adored by those around her.
At school, she was a popular friend, loyal and everyone’s confidant. Her only favorite subject in school was Farsi Literature, and writing essays. She wrote the most elaborate and detailed stories or adventures, and would turn them into plays. Gathering friends and cousins to act them out…and she always had the Leading role.
Being aware of this talent, Parisa was enrolled in Kanoon Parvaresh theater work shops. However was never allowed to participate in any plays performed for the public. The Islamic Revolution in 1979 caused all the theaters and workshops to close down. Parisa continued her adventure through her writings her vivid imagination was transformed into plays and monologues, and with a group of her friends she brought her stories to life.
In 1984, she wrote and acted in a play called “ Roosaryeh Abee” or “The blue Veil” which was performed in Siavash middle school in Tehran. Her political views and ideas were illuminated through the characters and their words. The story was about a 13 yr old girl wearing a blue veil and her attempts to break free from it. The Blue Veil was never performed again….and the school changed the mandatory veil uniform from blue to gray.
In 1990, parisa and her family moved to U.S. Her departure started a new chapter in her life. While struggling to adapt to a completely different language and culture than her own, Parisa found a common ground…Stage! Along her academic classes she discovered a little theater with a small stage in the college she was enrolled at. Parisa received her major degree in Communication and minor in Theater.
Her marriage to Farinoosh Roohparvar and giving birth to two children, were major turning points in Parisa’s life.

After the birth of her second child, Parisa continued studying theater and appearing in plays and Independent features in San Francisco. A favorite actress to many Directors, she completed many features, including The Unwilling which will be released in summer of 2006.
Today, she studies the craft of acting at the Howard Fine Acting Studio in Los Angeles.
