How to send a cell phone to Iran as a gift?

Hi,

My mother lives in Iran and I live in the US. I would like to send a cell phone device of any kind (not the sim card only the phone) to her as a gift. Something like Nokia, motorola etc.

I took my samsung cell phone to the AT&T store and they unlocked it for me, she took it to the phone company there and they registered the phone but it didn't work.

Does anyone know what website should I use or can anyone here help me with that? I can pay with credit card and she gets it in Iran.

honia jan i think u need to first establish what kinda cellphone service provider she will have in iran, each company features specific kinda hardware that is compatible in their own system range, once they tell u the different cellphones they feature, u can choose the one u like the most and buy that same model here in the west, but make sure also, the many contraptions that come with it, i.e. the charger are compatible as well to iran's standard, good luck!

you need to fined out what frequency the government of iran uses. like the FCC here allowes a capoul of diffrance frequencys

once you fined out the frequabcy you just have to get a phone that can also work with that frequancy

i am sure you can find the frequency of the provider in iran.

also cheapest and best way is to buy it off ebay or amozan from a country that uses same frequancy and have theme ship it to her

if frequancy is same as dubai

buy from amozan dubai

one of things you have to remember is to buy a Triband mobile. because of net in iran!

I actually asked for frequency that they use over there it's 900mhz so I asked the lady over at AT&T who unlocked my Samsung V205 and she said it's a 900mhz device.

My mom took the phone to phone company in iran (mokhaberat!) and they even registered the phone and told her it MAY work in 10 days but it didn't. It's keep showing the "searching" message on the display.
