Choose a LocationYou can reserve online or over the phone. When you log in with your Member Number and PIN, you'll go straight to our Member Center. Drop-down menus let you choose the account that gets charged with the trip, the trip date, the region, the neighborhood, and the vehicle type. Vehicles are assigned to a specific location with a location number. The location is a parking space on the street, in a surface parking lot, or in a parking structure. If you're not sure which neighborhood you're in, you can search for vehicles by zip code on our Cars and Locations page. Members can also find a location through our touch-tone Phone Reservation System by calling 877-FLEXCAR and following the prompts.

Choose a TimeOn the next screen you'll see a list of location numbers, an icon for each representing the vehicle type, each location's street address, and a symbol for the daily rate for that vehicle. You'll also see a calendar grid for the day. Choose your vehicle, then click and drag a time slot on the calendar grid. Your reservation will appear in blue. For your first few trips, we recommend you give yourself an extra half hour - just in case.

ConfirmWhen you finish making the reservation, you'll see a confirmation page. Print this and bring it with you when you go to the car. It includes detailed instructions for finding the car, a map showing the car's location, transit route information, and any other special instructions vital to your trip. You can also add the reservation to your Outlook calendar. If you need to manage your reservations, check your account or update your profile information, use the tabs at the top of the page.

Go to the carAt the time of your reservation, walk, run or jog to your car. You may even consider skipping. Your reservation confirmation has detailed instructions for finding the car, a map showing the car's location, and transit route information. Note any special instructions, especially for secured parking structures; you'll need to know how to get in, how to drive out, and how to drive back in.

Open the car To get in, hold your Flexcard over the card reader located on the driver's side of the front windshield. This will unlock the doors.

Start the car Once in the car, open the glovebox and find the key. Pull the key out of its designated slot and start the car.

Drive the car The car is now essentially yours for the duration of your trip, and you can act accordingly. At any stop, take the key with you and lock the doors with the key. When you are done with your mid-trip stop, just use the key to get back in the vehicle and to start the car.

Go back to the home locationAt the end of your trip, drive back to your car's home parking spot - where you started your trip. In some parking structures, the entry can be in a different part of the building, so it's wise to check this out when you start your trip. This type of information is in your reservation confirmation, another reason to bring it with you.

Leave the carBefore you get out of the car, insert the green key fob on the key ring back into the slot in the glove box. With the key back in its place, check for personal belongings, turn off interior and exterior lights, roll up all windows, and remove any trash. After you step out of the car, hold your Flexcard over the card reader again and wait for the doors to lock automatically. Completing this two step process of returning the key to its slot and swiping your Flexcard sends your trip data to our billing department and completes your trip. It's that easy!

You can take mass transit into the city but still have a Flexcar vehicle ready if you need to pick up kids, go to a doctor's appointment, or run errands during lunchtime. Even if you drive into work, why pull your car out of the garage during the middle of the day and risk losing your parking space? Our cars have their own parking spaces, reserved just for Flexcar

Why own an SUV 365 days a year when you really only need one now and then? Use a Flexcar sport utility vehicle or pickup to load-up at the garden center or haul that oversize piece of furniture home. Or use a Flexcar minivan for those occasional crazy weekends when the relatives are in town and your own Pinto won't do.

Lots of people are choosing to give up their second car, or do without cars completely. And why not? They cost more than $700/month on average to own and operate, and are a big hassle. As long as you have a Flexcar available when you need one, you can still have mobility, but without the futility.

Each shared car put in service takes about 15 other cars off the road. Flexcar is committed to environmental sustainability. Our fleet of Ultra Low Emission Vehicles and fuel-efficient hybrids averages more than 30 miles per gallon.
With Flexcar, you don't have to go into some rental office, wait in line, and fill out paperwork. Our cars are located throughout the city so they are where you need them. Plus, renting from the traditional car companies may seem like a bargain, but by the time you add in gas, taxes, hidden fees and LDW insurance, your $39.99 a day rate is long gone. Flexcar is much more affordable, because you only pay for the time you use.
Lots of people become Flexcar members just to have a "safety net" - in case your own car breaks down, in case you need to take the cat to the vet, or in case you suddenly get the urge to drive a sporty vehicle to the beach for the weekend.
