Wolfowitz was obeying local customs when he removed his shoes in the mosque in the city of Edirne in western Turkey.

But he should have known there was trouble afoot when he tried to put them back on after touring the mosque, only to display two unsightly holes - one in each sock.

Wolfowitz, 62, was in Turkey on a two-day visit where he met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss the country's economy and lobby for its inclusion into the European Union.

did anyone think he had holes in his sock on purpose? You are supposed to go to all religious houses (mosques, churches, and synagogues) in you finest clothes out of respect, so his wearing socks with holes could be a sign of disrespect.

I am sure his wife would be very dissapointed in him, it reflects bad on her for 2 reasons:

1) It makes her look like she doesnt care about the image her husband presents to the world

a lot of wives do dress their husbands, hehe. Who said men are old enough to know what to wear?

I am sure she is wealthy enough to have a maid who does the laundry, and if so it seems the maid is as competent with sorakh joorabs as the President of the World bank.
