    ROBERTO BAGGIO

All of you guys definitely know Baggio. he was one of the best. I really liked to see him in chelsea specially when Vialli offered him to come to chelsea, but he rejected due to some reasons.
whenever I remember Baggio, I recall the penalty that he missed in worldcup 94 (final). Anyway, it is so bad that we can not see great players like him anymore.

        Paolo Maldini

Paolo Maldini (born June 26, 1968 in Milan) is an Italian football player.

I did not want to choose another Italian player but I could not resist this great defense. As a Chelsea fan who believes John Terry is the best Center defense in the world, I reveal that Maldini is one of the best.

He is the son of Cesare Maldini, former player of A.C. Milan and ex-coach of the Italian national football team. Maldini plays as a defender and predominantly plays the position of left back although he sometimes plays at centre back, his original position in the team. Throughout his long career, he has remained a one club man with A.C. Milan, where he holds the current captaincy, and has currently made the most appearances for the club (as well as any player in Serie A) after having passed Franco Baresi's record of 512.

Maldini is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders to have ever played the game, and was arguably the best at the peak of his career. He is well known for his influential captaincy, ice-cool temperament, his outstanding ability to play with both feet and flawless defending.

The former Barcelona player announced on Greek radio on Wednesday he was leaving Greek Super League side AEK Athens to sign for AFC Champions League quarter-finalists Kuruvchi.

AEK confirmed Rivaldo’s announcement, with a club spokesperson telling reporters that the Brazilian was released from his contract – “following the payment of a transfer fee”.

Kuruvchi will parade their new signing on September 2 and manager Mirdjalol Kasimov is already excited about seeing how the World Cup winner can contribute to the team.

The club are currently in pole position in the Uzbek League, clinching 51 points after 19 games. Kuruvchi are also in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League.

The Uzbek club made the headlines early August when they claimed to have signed Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o. The deal however, was never finalised as the Cameroon international chose to remain at the club.

Brazilian superstar Rivaldo told a Greek radio station Monday that he is leaving AEK Athens and will be playing this season for a club in Uzbekistan.

The 36-year-old midfielder said in an exclusive interview with Athenian radio station NovaSport FM that he talked with AEK officials and that they gave the okay for Rivaldo to join Bunyodkor, even though the Brazilian star had one more season on his two-year contract with the Greek team.

"I ask forgiveness from AEK supporters, but you can't say no to such a proposal," Rivaldo told the radio station.

"It has been a tough day. I had to make a very difficult decision. Something very positive has come up late in my career and I cannot turn it down."

Rivaldo has played the last four seasons in Greece, three for champions Olympiakos Piraeus and after refusing to accept a pay cut with them for a fourth season, he joined AEK.

He told NovaSport FM that he was pleased with AEK and had no problems with the club: "It's just that things happened fast and I had to go. Anyone else in my position would not have said no to such a deal."

Rivaldo did not reveal to the radio station the financial deal with Bunyodkor, but noted it was the same team, then known as PFC Kuruvchi, that made a 30 million dollar offer to Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o last month.

He said with AEK he ended his contract by mutual agreement and that neither side owes compensation.
