"I got the goosebumps when I scored at the Bernabéu"
Higuaín's two goals in the League have earned Real Madrid four crucial points. The Argentine has showcased his fighting spirit in the six months he has been at the Club. He now hopes to win the next four games to take the League title.
Your victory goal against Espanyol was your first at the Bernabéu. Have you taken a load off your shoulders?
I don't know if I really feel less pressure, but at least I am no longer worried about having to score at the Bernabéu. It's a unique experience and I hope to score many more. I am more at ease and I really want to win the League. It would be great for all of us.
Do you remember the goal?
Of course. Raúl passed me the ball and I slid behind the defender, beat the keeper and scored. It was amazing to score at the Bernabéu... I even got the goosebumps. I hope to score many more goals like that. We all dream about netting strikes like that.
The Bernabéu went wild...
I honestly don't remember that. I only remember us being very happy and that all my teammates hugged me. That is the most beautiful thing in the world. Words can't describe what I felt. It was a moment full of joy for me...
When did you realise it was possible for the team to win the League?
When I arrived. I always thought we could win if we won several games in a row. That's what we are doing now and I hope we keep up the good work. Many things have happened to us this year. We have suffered despite our good efforts and winning the title would be the result of our hard work.
Does the squad fear anything going wrong before the end of the season?
No. We are confident and we're going to play the next four games as if they were finals.
Do you think the team has chances of dropping points?
We can't afford to make any more mistakes. Winning every game will be key to take the title.
Do you think the match in Huelva will be the toughest of the four you have left?
We all think the four games will be difficult and we must win them all in order to win the League.
Recreativo defeated Real Madrid 3-0 at the Bernabéu in the first part of the championship. Will you take the pitch on Sunday looking for revenge?
We don't want revenge, we simply want to earn a crucial victory.
Do you prefer playing before Barcelona this weekend?
I honestly don't care. We are interested in winning, that's it.
Do you think the score in Huelva could put pressure on Barcelona?
I don't know how they think or feel. I know that if we win we'll still be leaders, regardless of what Barcelona do.
You've been here for half a season. How do you feel?
Happy, especially now that we're leaders. We are working hard during the week. This League will be special for everyone because of all the problems we've had.
Did you think you would earn a spot on the starting eleven so soon?
I was simply ready to use every chance I got well, but, as you say, everything happened very quickly for me and I am enjoying myself to the fullest. I hope this lasts.
Are you happy with your performances in Spain so far?
I know I can do better. One should never be satisfied with what he does. If I keep working hard and making a good effort I will play even better. I'm happy with our victory on Saturday and with my first goal at the Bernabéu. I am more confident now and I hope to keep playing well the rest of the season.
Is there anything we haven't seen yet?
Nothing special. I'm still young and I know I'm going to learn a great deal at this Club. I will do much better the more I learn. I will eventually become a better player.
Do you like playing on the right or would you prefer playing as second striker?
I simply like to play, wherever that may be, and playing on the right wing isn't so strange to me. I prefer to play deeper in the attack, but that's up for the coach to decide. I don't feel out of my depth on the right.
Do you think Atletico Madrid won't try as hard to defeat Barcelona because it would benefit Real Madrid?
I think Atletico will try hard to win because every player always wants to win, even if the main rival will benefit from the victory. If they win, Atletico will be in the positions that qualify them for next year's UEFA Cup, so I don't think they will want to lose or even draw. A football player always feels he must win because it boosts his confidence.
What are the main differences between Spanish and Argentinian football?
I think football here is slightly faster. The grass is shorter, which makes the ball roll faster. Luckily, I am adapting rather well and these past six months will help me improve for next season because I already know the rivals and their stadiums.

"Real Madrid truly were Real Madrid tonight"
Fabio Capello talked to the media after his team's incredibly important victory against Recreativo Huelva. The Italian coach was proud of his men despite "giving away" two goals.
"I think we gave away two goals and that we missed several chances, but that's football for you. Anything can happen against a good team with very active players. I liked my team's reaction in the end. Roberto Carlos ran 80 metres in order to join the counterattack and score. We proved to have guts."
"Our last goal was very important because the game was important too and proved to be tough in the end. I liked our performance, but we still have three games left and we haven't won the championship yet."
"Luck is always important, but I don't think my men lost concentration. This is proved by how they reacted in the end. We've told Roberto we are happy with him."
"Recre played a fast and balanced game, creating some danger, but Real Madrid truly were Real Madrid tonight."

"We showcase our confidence on the pitch"
Roberto Carlos and Robinho scored two of the team's goals and Beckham gave the latter an incredible cross from which to score his header. They're all happy with the victory and confident of winning the next three games.
Roberto Carlos
"We had the game in our hands and it was easy at times, but it suddenly got complicated. We are going through a sweet moment in which we do everything right. We are being a very serious and professional team. We withstood the pressure and heat we got earlier this season and this is our reward."
"I phoned my father right after the game because he was very worried about me. My family has been suffering for me lately. I had never been off the pitch for as long as four months."
"Support from my teammates and the fans is very important for and it helps me do better. We have a lot of fun during training. I know I have three games left with this team and we are going to continue playing this well."
"We could think we are invincible, but we're not. We never stop running. We are physically and psychologically strong. We may have fun while training, but we do very serious work. We showcase our confidence on the pitch. Next weekend will be the most important matchday of the season and we want our fans to enjoy watching us play at our stadium. If we continue playing like this we will win the next three games. We have faith in ourselves, but we must keep our feet on the ground. Next Saturday's game at home will be terribly important."
"Some people say I'm getting old, but I run faster now than when I was 20. Many players with my age are going through an excellent professional moment. We are experienced and in good shape."
Beckham
"It was a hard game for us, but after the next three games the League will be over. Roberto Carlos is an incredible person and he scored a great goal."
Robinho
"The team played well tonight. We dominated until the final minutes of the game. I guess luck plays an important role in football, but we deserved to win. We had a beautiful comeback once again. We all hugged Roberto because we all know how much that goal meant to him."

"I'm happy with being on a focused, quality team that plays with its heart"
These were Ruud van Nistelrooy's words after the match. The League's current Pichichi tallied yet another goal and was very happy with his team's important victory. Fernando Gago, who gave Roberto Carlos the pass from which the Brazilian scored, was also delighted with the win.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy
"I don't know what to do with my pounding heart! I completely lost it when I saw Roberto's shot go in."
"We dominated for 60 or 70 minutes, but everything became harder for us after they scored the penalty. They then scored from a corner and we once again had to come back in the very last minute. It was fantastic."
"How we feel right now makes the suffering worth it. I'm happy with being on a focused, quality team that plays with its heart. This is fantastic and we're going to carry on this way in the next three games. We have played three or four fantastic games and we are going to continue enjoying ourselves."
"We once again proved we are able of coming back to win a game, like against Sevilla and Espanyol. That is our mentality. I want to keep scoring goals."
Fernando Gago
"This is a very important score for us because it keeps us in the fight for the title. We must keep our current mentality. I am incredibly happy for Roberto and for giving him the pass from which he scored. The team must continue fighting."
"The strength of the team allowed us to come back to earn a brilliant result. I was told I would be a starter earlier today. I wasn't surprised because, despite feeling a slight niggle, I felt well."

Roberto Carlos scored in injury time and gave Real Madrid a 3-2 win against Recreativo Huelva on Sunday to keep it atop the Spanish league with three rounds remaining.
Madrid led 2-0 but allowed a pair of goals in the final 16 minutes to jeopardize its four-match winning streak. Roberto Carlos raced down the left, settled Gago's cross and scored under sliding goalkeeper Bertrand Laquait.
"Roberto Carlos sprinted forward 80 meters to back up his team for that goal," Madrid coach Fabio Capello said. "I really liked the team today."
The victory gave Madrid 69 points, the same as FC Barcelona who is second on head-to-head results. Sevilla is third with 67 and Valencia fourth on 65 points.
Barcelona kept pace by trouncing Atletico Madrid 6-0 in the pouring rain at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.
Sevilla, coming off its UEFA Cup victory on Wednesday, matched the front-runners with a 2-1 victory earlier over Deportivo La Coruna.
Robinho put Madrid ahead in the ninth minute with a header off a perfectly aimed lofted cross by David Beckham. Laquait tripped Robinho in the six-yard box and Van Nistelrooy converted the penalty in the 54th minute to double the lead.
But Madrid defender Sergio Ramos brought down Ikechuckwu Uche in the penalty area to create Jesus Vasquez's penalty in the 74th, and Uche equalized 13 minutes later by knocking in a loose ball.
In Madrid, Lionel Messi scored a goal in each half as Barcelona remained unbeaten in four matches.

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has signed a deal with a leading New York consultation and investment firm to help the Spanish giants stand tall in America.
The contract with SCP Worldwide, which includes plans for the creation of Real academies in the U.S., broadcasting rights to the club's television content and the team's participation in friendlies over the coming years, is intended to win over "millions" of new fans.
"The innovative agreement confirms Real Madrid's desire to push its brand in the North American market and to support the efforts of the country's football bodies - MLS, USSF, AYSO - to increase the popularity of the sports with its values, experience, and prestige," a statement on the club's web site said.
"Real Madrid now becomes the European club with the most advanced rollout plan in the US market."
SCP Worldwide, whose president David Checketts was in Madrid on Friday to sign the deal, also owns the MLS' Real Salt Lake soccer franchise and recently purchased the NHL's St. Louis Blues. Real now is preparing to host an event in New York in July.

Real Madrid rallied for a 2-2 tie at Zaragoza on Saturday to keep alive hopes for its 30th Spanish league title.
David Beckham started for Madrid despite not being 100 percent after spraining his ankle while playing for England on Wednesday and needed treatment in the 83rd minute.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy scored his second goal of the game in the 89th minute. He shrugged off a defender to score his league-leading 25th goal of the season.
Madrid and Barcelona lead the league with 73 points, though Madrid wins on head-to-head should they remain tied in the standings. Sevilla has 71 points.
Madrid can clinch its first title since 2003 if it beats Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium next Sunday.
