  • NEW YORK - NBC News is apologizing again — this time for Jane Fonda.

The 70-year-old actress used a vulgar slang term on the "Today" show Thursday while talking about the play "The Vagina Monologues." Fonda is appearing in a 10th-anniversary performance and was on "Today" with author Eve Ensler.

Fonda told co-host Meredith Vieira that she was asked to perform a monologue with a slang term for vagina as the title — and Fonda used the term itself on the air in explaining why she said "no."

"I said, `I don't think so, I've got enough problems,'" Fonda said.

About 10 minutes later, Vieira told viewers that Fonda had used a word from the play that normally isn't used on television.

"It was a slip and obviously she apologizes and so do we," Vieira said. "We would do nothing to offend the audience, so please accept that apology."

"Today" moved quickly to silence the word and cover up Fonda's face with a still photo when the show was aired in the Midwest, Mountain and West Coast feeds.

It's been a month's worth of apologies for NBC News, owned by General Electric Co. MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews said he was sorry for suggesting that the reason Hillary Clinton was a presidential candidate was because of her husband's infidelities. MSNBC correspondent David Shuster was suspended for two weeks for saying the Clintons had "pimped out" daughter Chelsea for presidential campaigning.

    • Miranda Kerr is happy to talk philosophy, but stays quiet as a monk when it comes to her personal life.

"I practice Japanese Buddhism," the model told PEOPLE Wednesday night. "At the heart of it all, it's about practicing peace."

Modern art? Sure, she'll give her two cents on that too. The Victoria Secret model headed to N.Y.C.'s Milk Gallery Wednesday for the launch of their exhibition of work by Shinjo Ito. "He's good," she said at the event. "Really inspiring."

She'll even chat about dieting: "I just did a three-day juice fast. It's really detoxifying and cleansing for the body .... You don't get that hungry."

But mention boyfriend Orlando Bloom, and suddenly she's tongue-tied.

When asked if the two yoga devotees ever workout together, she responded with, "Ugh. Ha, ha, ha!" before finally managing, "Well, I'm sure he does yoga."

The undercover lovers were recently outed, when they were spotted on a PDA-filled date at New York's Max Brenner restaurant. "They were just being playful and kissing and hugging," recounted an onlooker.

"He's a sweetheart and that's all I'm gonna say," Kerr said, blushing. "Sweetheart."

Did the two spend Valentine's Day together? "I can't tell you," she replied with a laugh. "I work for Victoria's Secret – but that's my secret.

      • Amy Winehouse's Sassy Show Highlights Paris Fashion Week

With an overflow A-list audience including Jessica Alba, Kanye West and Rihanna dancing in front of the stage, Amy Winehouse wowed them during Paris Fashion Week on Friday night.

Entertaining 600 guests at the inauguration of Fendi's new Avenue Montaigne boutique, the troubled Grammy-winning singer took the stage at 11 p.m. in a beehive hairdo and black-strap Fendi dress hitched up with a brash metal belt.

"Forgive my ignorance, I don't know anything about fashion," she told the industry-heavy crowd, which also included Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Sofia Coppola, Milla Jovovich and Jade Jagger.

Just hours after officially getting off the hook in a perversion-of-justice case in England, Winehouse served up an audacious 40-minute performance. With horns and backup moving her along, she demonstrated a strong return to form, working through a set including "Rehab," "Valerie" and "You Know I'm No Good."

The evening, which included a dramatically lit fashion tableaux of live models, atrium cocktails and a separate concert room, was orchestrated by Fendi's design-meister Karl Lagerfeld, who selected Winehouse.

Between numbers Winehouse told the crowd, she was "really glad to be booked by Fendi because I was getting bored."

"I'm available for bookings," she joked. "If anyone wants me for a wedding or a bar mitzvah. ... Well maybe not a wedding. My music's a little too heartbreak. For a wedding, you need something meeker."

            • Britain fights snoop Dog's Entry

Two years after Snoop Dogg was involved in a dust up at a London Airport, the British government still isn't keen on the rapper returning to their shores.

LONDON (April 5) - Britain is appealing a court's decision to allow Snoop Dogg into the country, the Border Agency said Friday. He was barred from Britain after he was arrested on charges of violent disorder at London's Heathrow Airport in 2006. But the hip-hop heavyweight successfully appealed the ban and received entry clearance from an asylum and immigration tribunal in January.

The Border Agency said Friday it would challenge the ruling at a hearing next week.

In March 2007, Snoop Dogg (real name: Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr.) was forced to cancel a tour of Britain with fellow rap icon Sean "Diddy" Combs after authorities denied him a visa.

That followed an incident in which Snoop Dogg and five others were arrested on charges of violent disorder and starting a brawl at Heathrow in which seven officers were injured. Trouble flared when some in his party were denied entry to British Airways' first-class lounge at the airport.

In April 2007, Snoop Dogg was refused entry into Australia, with then-Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews saying the rapper "doesn't seem the sort of bloke we want in this country."

A former associate of the Los Angeles gang the Crips, Snoop Dogg built his early career on recordings offering gritty details of gang life.

                • Rob Lowe's Attorney Blasts New Nanny Lawsuit

Rob Lowe's lawyer Larry Stein issued a statement Wednesday denouncing the lawsuit filed by nanny Laura Boyce. Stein also lashed out at Boyce's attorney Gloria Allred, who also represents Jessica Gibson, the other nanny accusing the actor and his wife:

"Having struck out against Rob Lowe, Gloria Allred now seeks to drag his wife and children into the fray. In response to a lawsuit against Laura Boyce by the Lowes, Ms. Allred filed a cross-complaint on behalf of Boyce, which contains false allegations, in an apparent attempt to divert the negative publicity which Allred's client, Gibson, has universally received.

"Although framed as a sexual harassment claim against both Sheryl and Rob Lowe, the cross-complaint alleges only words by Sheryl and never mentions any words or conduct by Rob whatsoever.

"The alleged statements by Sheryl are totally unrelated to, and do not provide any support for, Gibson's claims against Rob."

                  • Miley Cyrus: I'm Sorry for Photos

Miley Cyrus issued a statement exclusively to PEOPLE on Sunday, apologizing for a series of playfully provocative photos that circulated on the Internet last week, as well as those from a racy, as-yet unreleased Vanity Fair photo shoot in which she appears to be nude.

The singer, 15, tells PEOPLE: "My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy. For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed."

A source close to the singer tells PEOPLE that Cyrus is clothed but shown by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz in such a way that that the teen appears to be topless.

In the photos that circulated on the Internet, Cyrus, her midriff exposed, is shown draped over the lap of her then-boyfriend, her producer's son. In another image, a hint of a green bra is evident. (Those photos alone prompted criticism from conservative TV commentator Bill O'Reilly, as well as words of support from the Jonas Brothers and a fellow Disney star.)

Cyrus goes on to say: "The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots. I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone.

"Most of all," she says, "I have let myself down. I will learn from my mistakes and trust my support team. My family and my faith will guide me through my life's journey."

                        • Whitney Houston 'Fantastic' at London Show

Whitney Houston has taken another step in her comeback. The diva wowed the crowd when she performed Thursday at the Caudwell Children Legends Ball, at Battersea Park in London.

During her hour-long set, Houston "both looked and sounded amazing," a guest tells PEOPLE. "She was fantastic."

Houston, who is working on a new album with her old friend Clive Davis, sang hits, including, "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," "I Will Always Love You," "The Greatest Love of All," and "Saving All My Love for You."

"It was like her greatest hits, only live," adds the guest.

Houston, who has had a tumultuous custody battle with her ex-husband Bobby Brown, brought daughter Bobbi Kristina, 15, on stage and introduced her as "the love of my life." The pair performed a duet of "My Love Is Your Love."

Among the evening's guests was singer Kelly Rowland, who said before the show began, "I'm jumping through my skin to see [Whitney] again."

As for Houston's troubled past, the Destiny's Child singer said, "People should not judge her. She's done more than prove herself."
