Iran military plane carrying 90 crashes in Tehran

TEHRAN, Iran -- An Iranian military transport plane has crashed into a residential area south of Tehran, state-run television reported.

Between 74 to 90 military personnel were believed to be aboard the transport when it went down Tuesday.

The official IRNA news agency reported that 10 bodies have been retrieved from the crash site.

The C-130 aircraft was headed for the port city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran when the pilot reported technical difficulties and was returning to base, according to Abdul Rahimi, a spokesman for Iran's civil aviation authority.

Journalist Shirzad Bozorgmehr told CNN there are unconfirmed reports that the aircraft was carrying military personnel and journalists.

The ISNA students' news agency reported the plane smashed into a 10-story building and burst into flames. Other Iranian media said the aircraft had hit an apartment block, Reuters reported.

"It is awful down here. I am suffocating," Red Crescent official Shahram Alamdari told Reuters by telephone from the scene, before hanging up.

There was no immediate word on casualties.

In Iran's last major military air disaster, an Iranian Ilyushin-76 troop carrier crashed in the southeast of the country on February 19, 2003, killing all 276 Revolutionary Guard soldiers and crew aboard.

سقوط مرگبار هواپيمای نظامی در شهر تهران

يک فروند هواپيمای ترابری سی - ۱۳۰ ارتش ايران پيش از فرود در فرودگاه مهرآباد در غرب تهران روی منطقه ای مسکونی در شهرک توحيد واقع در حوالی سه راه آذری در جنوب غرب تهران سقوط کرد.
اين حادثه در حدود ساعت دو بعدازظهر به وقت محلی رخ داده و گزارشهای اوليه حاکی از اين است که دست کم هفتاد و چهار نفر در آن جان باخته اند.

آن گونه که در گزارشها آمده، هواپيمای سی - 130 هنگام فرود بشدت با ساختمان ده طبقه ای برخورد كرده و آتش گرفته است.

فرودگاه مهرآباد که هم کاربرد نظامی و هم غيرنظامی دارد با گسترش شهر تهران در محدوده شهری قرارگرفته و در حال حاضر مراحل انتقال بخش غيرنظامی آن به فرودگاه امام خمينی که بتازگی در جنوب تهران ساخته شده آغاز گرديده است.

در حالی که بهمراه همسرم قصد عبور از خيابان شمشيری را داشتيم ناگهان صدای مهيبی نظرمان را بخود جلب کرد و بلافاصله شعله های آتش همه جا را فرا گرفت. ما بياد ۱۱ سپتامبر افتاديم و در حالی که ترس وجودمان را فرا گرفته بود پا به فرار گذاشتيم.
در کتابخانه دانشکده فيزيک دانشکاه صنعتی شريف که در خيابان آزادی واقع است مشغول درس خواندن بودم که با صدای مهيبی تقريبا تمام دانشجوها به طرف پنجره رفتند. چون در طبقه پنجم بوديم توانستيم دود و آتش را ببنيم اما متأسفانه در اين چند روزه هوای تهران خيلی کثيف است و حتی ميدان آزادی هم به زور ديده می شود. ساعت ۱۳ و ۵۰ دقيقه بود که صدای انفجار آمد
من خود شاهد اين ماجرا بودم بسيار صحنه وحشتناکی بود من به چشم خود انسانهايی را ديدم که در آتش ميسوختند. محل کار من در نزديکی محل سقوط است در آن ساعت من بدليل مشکلی که در شرکتم برايم پيش آمده بود محل شرکت را ترک نمودم و در حال عظيمت به منزل خود بودم که از نزديک صحنه برخورد را ديدم و الان در وضعيت روحی بسيار ناراحت کننده ای اين متن را تايپ ميکنم به حدی که فکر نميکنم اين صحنه وحشتناک تا آخر عمر از يادم برود .من فکر نميکنم بتوانم تا چند روز ديگر به حالت طبيعی برگردم. بخش ۳ بر اثر انفجاری (احتمالا گاز) منفجر شده است. و امداد رسانی را با مشکل مواجه کرده است
بعد از يک روز کاری از کنار ميزم که در طبقه نهم اداره است بلند شدم و کنار پنجره رفتم که ديدم هواپيمايی با سرعت غير معمول و با زاويه تندی قصد فرود دارد اول فکر کردم بعلت خستگی چشم هايم دچار مشکل ديد شده است در عرض چند ثانيه بعد از نظر ناپديد شد که صدای مهيبی شنيدم حدس نمی زدم که هواپيما با جايی برخورد کرده باشد ولی بعد از چندين لحظه که از آن ناحيه دود بلند شد و صدای ماشينهای امداد و آتش نشانی به گوش رسيد حس کردم حادثه بدی اتفاق افتاده است . چون خودم سالها در جبهه و جنگ بودم و بارها تا دم مرگ رفتم بسيار ناراحت و متاسفم که اين اتفاق برای مرد! م بی پناه و بخصوص بچه ها افتاده است

ستاد بزرگداشت جانباختگان عرصه خبر در اثر حادثه جانسوز سقوط هواپيماي سي - 130 در وزارت ارشاد تشكيل ميشود.

برنامههاي اين ستاد براي بزرگداشت ياد خبرنگاران ، عكاسان و ديگر دستاندركاران عرصه خبر كه در اثر اين حادثه كشته شدند، طي روزهاي آينده اعلام ميشود.

سقوط يك فروند هواپيمايي C 130 در شهرك توحيد در غرب تهران امروز به كشته و مجروح شدن تعدادي از هموطنانمان از جمله كادرهاي خبري كه با اين هواپيما سفر ميكردند شد.

آخرين گزارشها از حادثه سقوط هواپيماي نظامي C130 حاكيست كه بنا بر گفته اغلب مسوولان امدادي و انتظامي اين هواپيما حامل 84 سرنشين بوده كه متاسفانه هيچ خبري زندهماندن سرنشينان آن را تاييد نكرده است.

آخرين آمار كشتهشدگان حادثه هواپيماي نظامي C130 ـ 116 تن اعلام شده است.

عمده سرنشينان اين هواپيما خبرنگاران و عكاسان رسانهها بودند كه براي پوشش خبري يك رزمايش نظامي عازم منطقه چابهار بودند.

مديركل روابط عمومي وزارت كشور با اعلام اين آمار گفت: علت اين حادثه تا اين لحظه نقص فني هواپيما اعلام شده اما هنوز بررسي در اين زمينه ادامه دارد.

فرماندهي عمليات امداد و نجات اين حادثه را سردار ذوالقدر قائم مقام و معاون امنيتي – انتظامي وزير كشور برعهده دارد.

در حال حاضر عمليات امدادرساني در محل حادثه پايان يافته است و هم اكنون از ميان مصدومان انتقال يافته به بيمارستانهاي تهران 20 تن بستري شده و باقي مصدومان سرپايي درمان شدند.

گفتني است عمده اجساد جانباختگان حادثه نيز به بيمارستان شريعت رضوي انتقال يافته و نيروهاي امدادي هلال احمر در حال انتقال آنها به پزشكي قانوني هستند.

بنابر اعلام دكتر ضيائي مسوول نظارت و اموزش و درمان اورژانس تعداد كشتهشدگان انتقالي به بيمارستان شريعت رضوي را حدود 90 تن و بيمارستان فياض بخش را حدود 20 تن اعلام كرد.

همچنين تعدادي از فوتشدگان حادثه نيز توسط آمبولانسهاي پزشكي قانوني در حال انتقال به سالن تشريح پزشكي قانوني كهريزك هستند

مديرعامل سازمان بهشت زهرا گفت: اجساد جانباختگان حادثه سقوط هواپيماي C130 پس از شناسايي از پزشكي قانوني به بهشت زهرا منتقل ميشوند.

سازمان بهشت زهرا كليه ناوگان حمل و نقل متوفي شهر تهران را در عمليات انتقال اجساد از بيمارستان شريعت رضوي و فياضبخش به سمت پزشكي قانوني به كار گرفته است

استانداري تهران آمار كشتهشدگان حادثه سقوط هواپيماي نظامي را 100 تن و شمار مجروحان بستري شده در بيمارستانها را 24 تن اعلام و تصريح كرد: مابقي مجروحين نيز به صورت سرپايي درمان شدهاند

دكتر كامران دانشجو استاندار تهران پس از حضور در محل سقوط هواپيماي نظامي گفت: ستاد حوادث غير مترقبه استان با بسيج كليه امكانات و واحدهاي ذيربط به سرعت كار امداد رساني را آغاز كرده است

وي با تاكيد بر ضرورت تسريع در رسيدگي به مصدومان حادثه خاطر نشان كرد: سه دانشگاه علوم پزشكي تهران ، بهشتي و ايران با آماده باش كامل امداد رساني و درمان مصدومان حادثه را با سرعت پيگيري ميكنند

دانشجو كه به اتفاق معاون سياسي امنيتي استانداري تهران در محل حادثه حضور يافته بود، بر همكاري و هماهنگي كليه دستگاههاي ذيربط استان تاكيد و افزود: تسريع در رسيدگي به مصدومان حادثه، پاكسازي محيط و حفظ آرامش در منطقه مورد توجه جدي استانداري است

با توجه به اطلاعات دريافتي از مسوولين استانداري مستقر در محل حادثه تا ساعت 30 / 17 كليه ساختمانهاي آسيب ديده تخليه شده و اسكان موقت ساكنين اين ساختمانها توسط هلال احمر استان در حال انجام است

Plane crashes into Tehran building, 116 killed

TEHRAN - An Iranian military plane carrying at least 94 people burst into flames and smashed into a Tehran apartment block on Tuesday, killing all those on board and others on the ground, police and witnesses said.

Interior Ministry Spokesman Mojtaba Mirabdollahi told the ISNA students news agency the death toll was 116.

A government official estimated the apartment block housed about 250 people. An interior ministry spokesman said he could confirm six to 10 deaths among those on the ground.

A police spokesman told state radio all passengers and crew on board the C-130 transport were killed when it hit the building in densely populated southern Tehran.

The plane, which belonged to the Iranian air force, was bound for the southern port of Bandar Abbas and many of the passengers were local journalists who were going to cover military exercises in the Gulf.

The pilot had reported engine trouble and requested an emergency landing at Tehran's Mehrabad international airport, but crashed just short of the runway, police said.

Iranian media quoted witnesses as saying one of the plane's wings was on fire as it came down.

Iranian reporters and cameramen at the scene were weeping because they knew colleagues on board.

Reuters witnesses said the nose of the crashed aircraft had been completely destroyed while its fuselage was blackened by smoke. Flames licked out of the windows of the flats and thick black smoke billowed into the sky.

Schools were closed because of high smog levels, raising fears that more children than usual would have been at home when the plane crashed at 2.10 p.m. (1040 GMT). A policemen said he saw the burned corpses of several young children.

"Some people were throwing themselves out of windows to escape the flames. I saw two die like that," another policeman said.

SCUFFLES WITH POLICE

Passerby Hassan Hedayati, his face covered in dust and hands caked with dried blood, said he was among the first on the scene.

"I pulled 30 bodies out of the plane. They were all charred," he said.

The apartment block, which was still standing, is in the Shahrak-e Towhid neighborhood inhabited by members of the military and their families. It lies on the flightpath to Mehrabad airport.

Scuffles broke out as police cordoned off the area, trying to keep back hundreds of anxious residents trying to push past them.

Emergency services were using helicopters, ambulances and buses to evacuate the dead and wounded. Bulldozers also arrived at the scene.

Iran has a poor airline safety record following a string of air disasters in the past 30 years although most have involved Russian-made aircraft.

U.S. sanctions have prevented Iran from buying new aircraft or spares from the West, forcing it to supplement its fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes with aircraft from former Soviet Union countries.

The C-130 Hercules aircraft, manufactured in the United States, are used in more than 60 nations for dropping paratroopers and supplies into war zones.

Scores of people were taken to hospitals suffering from burns and the effects of smoke.

The semi-official Fars news agency said at least 40 bodies had been recovered so far.

Tehran state radio said at least 34 people had been killed in the building and 90 were injured.



Schools were closed on Tuesday because of high smog levels, raising fears that more children than usual would have been at home when the plane crashed at 1410 local time (1040 GMT).

Eyewitnesses reported that relatives of those inside the residential block where the plane crashed were so desperate that they broke down a 3m (10ft) tall metal gate to get inside.

Journalists at the site have reported being beaten by police. They said police broke two cameras belonging to state television and confiscated tapes and all mobile phones being used to take pictures.

The plane had been due to fly Bandar Abbas in the south-west of Iran. Passengers included more than 70 journalists and photographers sent to cover military exercises there.

'Big bang'

One shopkeeper described how something appeared to be wrong with the plane before it crashed.

"We are used to aeroplanes but I thought: 'Oh my God, this one is going to crash'. Then it struck the building with a big bang and smoke came pouring out."

The Iranian air force is believed to have about 15 ageing US-made C-130s in operation, dating back to before the 1979 Islamic revolution and the US boycott of Iran.

The country's civil and military aircraft have a poor safety record.

In 2003, an Iranian Ilyushin-76 troop carrier crashed in south-east Iran killing all 276 Revolutionary Guard soldiers and crew aboard.

Officials blame the high frequency of crashes on a lack of aviation spare parts due to US sanctions.

Mehrabad is the oldest airport in Tehran and handles both domestic and military flights.

When it was built more than 60 years ago it was located outside the capital, but with the growth of Tehran's urban sprawl the airport has become surrounded by residential areas.
