      Unbelievable.

Looks like they were heavily influenced by western culture.

LOL, what is your point??? Is it possible for you to get pass that western/eastern crap and just look at the beauty of things?

Iranians are progressive people. On Spiritual level we connect by retaining our heritage, customs and family values..even food values..lol
On the material level, we like the best this life has to offer, we enjoy beautiful things and don't care whence it comes from, East or West. If West can teach us to progress, then so be it, why knock it, we learn and move on. If we can teach West other things, which we have, then kudos to us. But I can tell you that once we learn something we like, we do it better than anyone else..lol
Enjoy life baba jaan, forget about sharghei va gharbi... all illusions of separation, give it up.

when connected by heritage, customs, food and family values why leaving costumes? I believe when one is sacrificed others will follow, well I'm not a conservative or i'm against the progressive human nature my concern is Identity.

Surely I can say a woman is an Indian when she has bindi in forehead and wearing a saree if not ..hmm... well I would be confused.

What is Identity???? A sense of self, more accurately a sense of self acceptance. I don't need to have a bindi on my forehead to hold my head up and proclaim my heritage.
A bindi only serves to make sure others accept you as to what your identity is, not what you imagine what your identity is.
When Pol Pot, communist dictator in Cambodia, took over the government he ordered execution of anyone who wore glasses. Because glasses identified one as being intellectuals. How did that identity served those poor people???
Identity... I-d(the)-entity... needs no decoration to be accepted except by one entity and that is "I".
