Sheryl Crow Opens Up About Cancer Fight

Taking stock of this year – which began with her engagement to Lance Armstrong until they broke it off, just weeks before she ended up being diagnosed with breast cancer – Sheryl Crow says she's grateful for much of what happened to her.

"I've had so many people (say to) me, 'Gosh, you know, everything's really gone wrong for you this year,' and it took me going through that to realize that everything really went right for me," the singer, 44, told the TV host on Thursday's episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show.

"It brought me to this point where I am now, and I really feel like I have a lot of clarity."

Part of the pain of the breakup with Armstrong, whom she'd been dating for two years, was the very public nature of the split. But what she also took from the experience, she says, is that "even though it's not, perhaps, a functional relationship, the love doesn't stop."

As for the lesson from her medical diagnosis and treatment – doctors caught the cancer early, resulting in her undergoing a lumpectomy and six and a half weeks of radiation – Crow discovered that it feels good to cry, something she now tries to do every day.

"It's in really experiencing your emotion, holding the emotion, really working through the emotion," she said. "Those are the conditions for your awakening. That's how you really find out who you are."

She also came to appreciate her family, and bought a home in Nashville, Tenn. to be near them. "At the end of the day, you really go to where the people are that are constantly helping you to remember who you are, who you were born to be," she said. "Your family, your friends, those are the people that really are here in your life for a reason to sort of help you find your way."

Now cancer-free for six months, Crow carries something else besides the lessons of her dramatic year: four small "radiation tattoos," scars caused by the radiation machine.

"I will eventually have them removed but it's a nice reminder," she said. "I want to remember every moment of what was going on at that time because we talk about defining moments, but I think nothing can define you. They're all refining moments. You're constantly refining yourself and refining your life."

Sandra Bullock & Jesse James: We're Not Expecting

Sandra Bullock is many things – wife, big-screen superstar, part-time Texan – but she's definitely not pregnant, according to her rep.

The actress and husband Jesse James are laughing off rumors that they're expecting a child, saying in a statement to PEOPLE: "We are not with child, but we are pregnant with ideas."

Meanwhile, Bullock, 42, and James, 37, have been keeping busy with other endeavors: Earlier this month the couple (who married in July 2005) celebrated the opening of Bullock's first restaurant, an upscale eatery called Bess in Austin, where they have a home. Bess's executive chef, Brenton Childs, told PEOPLE that the actress "loves food, wine and being with friends."

Lindsay Lohan Is In Alcoholics Anonymous

Lindsay Lohan has been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, her rep tells PEOPLE.

"Yes, she's been attending some meetings, and it's going to be a slow process," says her publicist, Leslie Sloane. "This is a positive. Let's hope that the press doesn't turn it into a negative."

Sloane says she's asking the media not to intrude on the meetings or follow Lohan, 20, to and from the gatherings.

"Maybe if (the press) backs off on her she'll be in a good space," Sloane added. "Let's see if we don't have to hear about it every day, and they're following her and trying to find her. Because that will just really not be good."

Earlier this week, the New York Post's Page Six column reported that Lohan was spotted at an AA meeting in Los Angeles. On Friday, E!'s Ryan Seacrest asked Lohan's mother, Dina, if Lohan was in AA. Dina replied, "That is true. ... It's a positive thing."

Newly Engaged Willa Ford Didn't Date Dancing Partner

Former Dancing with the Stars contestant Willa Ford knows that her engagement to Dallas Stars hockey player Mike Modano will come as a surprise to many fans, who believed she was having a romance with her professional dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, she tells PEOPLE.

"Maks and I were definitely close and we still are, but I kept saying that it's going to be a shocker to everybody when they find out (I'm engaged to Mike,)" Ford says. "Every week I told people the truth – we were close, we hung out – but the show loved to fuel the relationship."

In fact, Ford, 25, and Modano, 36, have been "on and off for about four and a half years." The couple got engaged over the Thanksgiving weekend in Dallas, where Modano gave Ford a classic, round cut solitaire diamond.
As for Chmerkovskiy: "We do have chemistry and it was easy for the show to go into that," says Ford, who called Chmerkovskiy to tell him about her engagement personally. "He said, 'you know I'm happy for you. I support you.' So everyone should know that Maks is okay! We'll stay friends and we'll still hang out."

Dancing fans planning to see Ford and Chmerkovskiy on tour later this month, however, will be disappointed, as both have pulled out of the lineup.

"I decided, prior to the tour rehearsals starting, to pull out of the tour for personal reasons that I wish I could reveal, but I can't," Chmerkovskiy tells PEOPLE. "There are no health issues, my health is fine. But I decided it was not right for me."

Ford then followed Chmerkovski's lead, as she's done so many times on the dance floor, and pulled out of the tour as well. "I didn't want to dance with a new partner," Ford says. "The fans wanted to see Willa and Maks dance together, not just whoever they gave me."

To clear up any misconceptions about his reason's for dropping out of the tour, Chmerkovskiy says, "People will try to tie Willa's engagement and my pulling out of the tour together and they are not related at all. I hope that Willa will be happy with Mike."

As for wedding plans, Ford says the nuptials will happen when Modano's team is in the off-season – and after she finishes her album. "It will either be this summer or next summer," Ford says. "I'm really one of those old-fashioned Southern girls who wants to get married, have a little time as newlyweds and then have babies."

Tony Parker: I'm So Happy About Engagement

"I am so happy," Tony Parker, who got engaged to girlfriend Eva Longoria earlier this week, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I've wanted to do this for some time."

In a one-on-one interview after practicing with San Antonio Spurs on Friday, Parker said: "Our families are so happy. This is a good time."

The usually media shy basketball star smiled and laughed as he talked about his plans to be married next summer in France.

"Eva really wanted to get married in France," says Parker. "It's a beautiful country, a country of love and a place that is very special for us. It was important to her that we get married there."

Parker says that he asked permission from Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich to fly to California to propose to Longoria after the Spurs played the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City on Tuesday night.

"He was really great about letting me go," says Parker. "He gives me relationship advice and we talk about things. Last year, he let me go to the SAG awards to be with Eva and this year, he let me go for the proposal."

Parker says that Longoria was surprised to see him, because she thought he was traveling back home with the team. "We like to surprise each other and Eva's better at it than I am – showing up when I don't know she's coming to visit," Parker says. "I wanted the proposal to be very special, and a surprise for her."

Jesse James: Giving Jobs to the Homeless

Monster Garage host Jesse James has found a new passion: Helping homeless people by offering them jobs at his Long Beach, Calif., motorcycle shop West Coast Choppers.

"Long Beach has a homeless problem," he tells PEOPLE. "I felt the need to step up and help because it wasn't going to magically disappear."

James, 37, who is married to actress Sandra Bullock, decided to reach out to the homeless community last year when Project Achieve, an overnight emergency shelter, opened up across the street from his shop.

The first person he hired was Richard Sihock, a former warehouse worker who had been homeless for almost a year. Sihock is now making $8.50 an hour with the prospect of a raise, and is living in a one-bedroom apartment with his wife.

James is already looking into hiring more people from the shelter. "Not everyone has been as lucky as I have," he says, "and it's time for me to use the success I have been blessed with to help others in Long Beach."

The city's Vice Mayor Bonnie Lowenthal, who has known James for years, told PEOPLE earlier this year about James's generous spirit. "He sees the potential in people and works to give them the same opportunities he's had."

James started his custom-motorcycle business when he was 23 years old. Bullock, 42, shares her husband's passion for charity work, having written million-dollar checks to tsunami and Katrina relief efforts.

Jessica Simpson, Luke Wilson Hit Louisiana Hotspot

Jessica Simpson and Luke Wilson, who are costarring in Blonde Ambition being shot in Shreveport, La., were spotted checking out a local hot spot on Thursday night, sources tell PEOPLE.

The pals arrived at the upscale club Phoenix Underground so early that there were more employees there than patrons, according to a source at the club.

"Luke was there the night before, and he wanted to show the place to Jessica," the source says. "She was very friendly to everyone."

Phoenix Underground is a 14,000 square-foot club that was once a bank; it's dance floor used to be the bank's vault. Wilson spent about four hours there on Wednesday evening, according to the source.

At the club, Jessica posed for pictures and chatted with people for about a half hour before leaving with her costar. Their movie, Blonde Ambition, has been described as a remake of the 1980s movie, Working Girl.

Paris Hilton Backs Out of Billboards Over Jokes

Paris Hilton has backed out of a scheduled appearance at Monday's Billboard Music Awards because she wasn't happy with the jokes written for her, according to her rep Elliot Mintz.

"It is my understanding that some satirical references ridiculed some of her peers," Mintz, said in a statement on Saturday, according to the Associated Press. "Paris did not want to say anything that could appear hurtful or embarrassing about people she knows."

A script delivered to Hilton on Friday contained material she found "objectionable," according to Mintz. After failing to come to a compromise with the reps for the award show, the heiress decided to back out.

A call to Billboard by the AP was not returned early Saturday.

The Billboard Music Awards are scheduled to air live from Las Vegas on Monday. It's being broadcast on FOX at 8 p.m. ET.

Project Runway's Laura Bennett Has a Boy

Architect-turned-designer Laura Bennett, a finalist on the third season of Project Runway, has welcomed her sixth child, a boy, she tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Her son Finn was born at 10:46 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, and weighed in at 8 lbs. Bennett says her newest child is "so cute" and that she is feeling fine.

Already a mom to four sons and a daughter (daughter Cleo, 18, from a previous marriage and sons Peik, 10, Truman, 7, Pierson, 4, and Larson, 3), Bennett, 43, discovered she was pregnant while filming the Bravo reality competition.

She didn't fuss about not having maternity clothes with her: "I'd wear these stretchy T-shirt dresses," she told PEOPLE in September.

After the Project Runway finale in October, Bennett awaited her baby's arrival at home in Manhattan with her husband, Peter Shelton, 55, who runs a design firm.

"Poor guy, he was the last to know," Bennett, a New Orleans native, told PEOPLE. "(Michael Kors's mother) Joan knew, but my husband didn't!"

In other Project Runway baby news, Heidi Klum also recently welcomed a son. And judge Nina Garcia is expecting her first child in March.

Prison Break Actor Involved in Deadly Car Crash

Prison Break actor Lane Garrison was involved in a car accident in which a 17-year-old male was killed on Saturday, according to police.

A sport utility vehicle that Garrison, 26, was riding in with three teenagers jumped a curb and hit a tree in Beverly Hills at 11:50 p.m., police said.

Garrison, who plays "Tweener" on the Fox jailhouse drama Prison Break, received minor injuries. Two 15-year-old girls, who were also in the car, were both injured – one critically. The teenage boy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident and trying to determine who was driving the car, Beverly Hills Police Sgt. Michael Hill tells PEOPLE. (The SUV was registered to Garrison, the Associated Press reports.)

"There have been no charges. The case is under investigation. There has been no confirmation of information regarding what happened," says Hill. "The ID of the driver is still to be determined."

Police declined to release the names of the victims because they are minors.

                        Keith Urban Still Undergoing Treatment

Keith Urban reunited with wife Nicole Kidman Sunday in Los Angeles, but his rep tells PEOPLE that the singer is still undergoing treatment for alcohol abuse.

"At this stage in (Keith's) treatment patients are occasionally allowed to leave for short periods of time," his rep says. "Keith is not out of rehab and is not back home in Nashville."

Urban, 39, checked into rehab on Oct. 19, saying in a statement at the time: "One can never let one's guard down on recovery and I'm afraid that I have."

"I deeply regret the hurt this has caused Nicole and the ones that love and support me," he added.

Kidman, 39, visited her husband at the facility where he was being treated before returning to the London set of The Golden Compass last month.

The Canadian-born Chalke, now in her sixth season on NBC's Scrubs playing Dr. Elliot Reid, was on hiatus from the show when Afifi proposed. She returned to work on Monday.

Tracey Edmonds: I'm Dating Eddie Murphy

Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds, a film producer and the ex-wife of singer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, are dating, she tells PEOPLE exclusively.

The couple have been seeing each other "for about a month and a half," Edmonds said at the New York premiere of Dreamgirls, which she attended with Murphy on Monday.

When asked if she was happy she smiled and said, "Yes, very happy. We're having fun."

Previously, Murphy had been seeing former Spice Girl, Melanie Brown. A rep for the comedian said, "We do not comment on Mr. Murphy's personal life."

Edmonds split from "Babyface" in October 2005 after 13 years together.

Farrah Fawcett 'Doing Well' After Cancer Treatment

Farrah Fawcett has completed chemotherapy and radiation treatment for cancer, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

"She's doing well. The outlook is really good and her spirits are high," says rep Mike Pingel of Fawcett, 59, who was diagnosed with anal cancer in September.

Though the Charlie's Angel star has a "long recovery process" ahead of her, Pingel says, "she’s looking forward to spending the holidays with her family."

During Fawcett's six-week treatment, "she didn't lose much of anything – didn't lose any weight, didn't lose very much of her hair," Pingel says.

Nor did she lose her resolve to reach out to fans who are also struggling with cancer. On her official website "she will be sharing her hair tips and other tips from throughout her treatment," says Pingel. "She has a bracelet she created and she's going to create more jewelry for the site. She's keeping in contact with fans."

One of her biggest fans, former husband Ryan O'Neal, tells PEOPLE in this week's issue that since learning of her diagnosis, Fawcett has "been really extraordinary."

So any extraordinary plans to celebrate this recent triumph in Fawcett’s life? "Everyday," says Pingel, "is a celebration."

Rachel Bilson & Adam Brody Split

Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody – who play a couple on The O.C. – have broken up off-screen, PEOPLE has confirmed.

"It was a typical romance and they just grew apart," a source close to the pair tells PEOPLE, adding, "They’ve been on and off for awhile now."

In October, the couple of three years denied breakup rumors. That month, they were spotted looking lovey-dovey strolling hand-in-hand in Toronto where Bilson was shooting the sci-fi drama Jumper. Yet that romantic scene wasn't an indication that they were still together, says the source: "Exes do hang out."

But during Brody's gig with his band Big Japan at Hollywood's Viper Room on Dec. 2, Bilson – normally a fixture at his performances – was noticeably absent, fueling rumors that their romance was over.

In April, Bilson, 25, gushed about her beau, telling Teen People that Brody, 27, is her best friend. "We always have a lot to talk about, and we tell each other everything. I feel like I have everything now – the dog, the house, the job and him. I can't ask for anything more!" (Together the couple adopted a pit-bull terrier, Penny Lane.)

Early in their relationship, the low-profile couple, who started dating during the first season of The O.C. , denied rumors that they were engaged.
