Angelina Jolie: We Should Support Madonna
Despite her comments in a French magazine, Angelina Jolie wasn't trying to criticize Madonna for adopting a child from Malawi, she says.
"The article included many falsehoods," Jolie said in a statement on Monday. "I said many positive things that were omitted. I feel we must focus on the present and I encourage everyone to be supportive so that every child can adjust nicely to their new home."
In an interview in Gala magazine, Jolie, 31, said of Madonna and her efforts to adopt 1-year-old David Banda: "Madonna knew the situation in Malawi, where (David) was born. It's a country where there is no real legal framework for adoption. Personally, I prefer to stay on the right side of the law. I would never take a child away from a place where adoption is illegal."
But Jolie, whose son Maddox, 5, and Zahara, who turned 2 on Monday, are from Cambodia and Ethiopia, respectively, has sympathy for the singer. "I have been horrified by the attacks she's been subjected to," she says. "All that should count is the happiness of her little David."
On Friday, Malawian child welfare official Adrina Mchiela said the government is satisfied with the way Madonna has been caring for David. "We have been monitoring her and so far we see a loving mother in Madonna and David is very fine," she told Reuters.
Human rights groups, however, have argued that Madonna, 48, used her wealth and celebrity to bypass Malawi's laws governing adoption by foreigners.
In her interview with Gala, Jolie also talks about her relationship with Brad Pitt. "Don't go repeating it whatever you do, but, yes I love him. I love him a lot," she says. "After I met him my life seemed more harmonious."

Marilyn Manson Dating Evan Rachel Wood
Rocker Marilyn Manson is romantically involved with 19-year-old actress Evan Rachel Wood, sources close to the situation tell PEOPLE.
The sources say his relationship with the Thirteen actress was a factor in the Dec. 29 divorce filing by Von Teese, 34, Manson's wife of one year.
"Dita is heartbroken, she didn't see this coming," says a source close to the burlesque dancer and MAC cosmetics model. "His partying contributed to the split as well."
Manson, 38, and Wood have been friends for some time. According to his official website, Manson first met Wood when he asked her to be in his upcoming horror film, Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll.
In addition, she posed for a watercolor that he painted, and attended the opening of his new Hollywood art gallery, the Celebritarian Corporation Gallery of Fine Art, last Halloween.
"It came as kind of a shock," Wood told Rolling Stone about being asked to pose. "I was beyond flattered."
Manson, who is currently in Paris, was unavailable for comment. A rep for Wood would not confirm the relationship. A spokeswoman for Von Teese did not return calls for comment.

Lindsay's Mom: 'Everything Is Under Control'
A day after Lindsay Lohan revealed that she'd checked into rehab, her mother tells PEOPLE that the actress is "absolutely fine."
"This is a wonderful, giant step she's taking and it's all good," Dina Lohan said Thursday. "Hollywood's a really, really busy scary place and everything is under control."
Dina says she's proud that her 20-year-old daughter is mature enough to take care of herself and "not worry about what anyone's going to say about her."
On Wednesday, Lindsay said in a statement that she had made the decision to enter rehab in order "to take care of my personal health."
The statement continues: "I appreciate your well wishes and ask that you please respect my privacy at this time."
As for how Lindsay is doing: "Everything's great and she's just getting a grip on her life," says Dina. "When I was 20 I don't know that I would be that strong to do that, so it's all good."
In terms of the facility where Lindsay is being treated, her mother says, "It's an outpatient program where, of course, (she'll be) in for the first week or two."
After that Lindsay plans to get back to work on her film, I Know Who Killed Me, which has temporarily suspended filming.
"Then she'll pick up the film again and start working and have someone with her and all is good," says Dina. "As a parent I couldn't be more pleased and proud."

Dharma & Greg's Jenna Elfman Expecting a Baby
Former Dharma & Greg star Jenna Elfman is pregnant with her first child.
Elfman and her husband, actor Bodhi Elfman, are "elated about the impending birth," her publicist, Jenni Weinman, said in a statement Friday, the Associated Press reports.
"Jenna looks and feels amazing. She is certain to be one hot mama!" Weinman said.
Elfman, 35, played Dharma Finklestein Montgomery on the 1997-2002 ABC comedy and recently starred in the CBS sitcom Courting Alex.
She and Bodhi, 37, have been married for 16 years.

Justin Timberlake 'Courts' Alyssa Milano, Eva Longoria
Justin Timberlake proved he's got game early Saturday morning when he shot some after-hours hoops with Alyssa Milano and Eva Longoria.
After his Friday night concert at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Timberlake, 25, hit the Jet nightclub with his entourage, where he danced with Milano, 34, and chatted with Longoria, 31.
At 4:00 a.m. the whole crew headed to an after-after party at the Palms' Hardwood Suite in the hotel's new 347-room Fantasy Tower. The $25,000-a-night, 10,000-square suite features an indoor basketball court, complete with scoreboard and locker room.
(The previous weekend, Timberlake's ex, Britney Spears, stayed at the Fantasy Tower's $40,000-a-night, two-story Hugh Hefner Sky Villa with new beau Isaac Cohen.)
"Justin played basketball for quite a while with Eva and Alyssa," says a source. He and about 100 other revelers "stayed there for a couple hours."
Timberlake, who announced his split with Cameron Diaz earlier this month, dated Milano after his 2002 split with Spears: They were spotted clubbing in L.A. and playing golf together, though a friend of his told PEOPLE at the time, "Right now they are not boyfriend and girlfriend. They are just having a good time."
