  • Paula Abdul Files Assault Charge

Paula Abdul filed assault charges with Hollywood police on Tuesday against a man who allegedly slammed her into a wall, the Associated Press reports.

The American Idol judge told police she was at a private party at about 1 a.m. on April 2 when a man she was arguing with grabbed her arm and threw her against a wall, according to a police spokesman.

"(Abdul) said she had sustained a concussion and spinal injuries," the spokesman said.

Abdul reportedly saw her doctor following the incident and said that she would make herself available for photographs of her injuries, Reuters reports.

        • Race to Replace Vieira Heats Up

The game of TV musical chairs continues with the search for a replacement for Meredith Vieira, who will leave ABC's The View to cohost NBC's Today show now that Katie Couric is jumping to the CBS Evening News.

"I think every agent in America is calling," View vet Barbara Walters, 76, tells the Associated Press. Vieira tearfully announced her departure on Friday's episode, although she will remain on the program through next month. Her replacement is due to begin in September.

Walters says that "chemistry" and "humor" are key ingredients for the new costar who will sit alongside herself, Joy Behar, Star Jones Reynolds and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

"We're looking for somebody who can do the interviews and also the hot topics at the beginning of the show," she says. And while she won't name names, Walters admits, "I've seen rumor after rumor after rumor."

Among those rumored to be in the running, according to published reports: CNN's Soledad O'Brien, Everybody Loves Raymond Emmy winner Patricia Heaton, actress Mimi Rogers and the latest, according to the New York Post, newswoman Connie Chung. (Heaton is already developing a talk show of her own for Disney, which owns ABC.)

Walters insists that no matter who lands on the program, The View will not undergo an extreme makeover. "It will change because we have a new person," Walters, herself a Today veteran, tells the Post.

The British supermodel, 32, who's had her share of well-publicized personal troubles lately, on Monday signed to appear on Calvin Klein billboards and in publications this fall for a reputed salary of $900,000, reports the Associated Press.

"Kate and the Calvin Klein brand have a long history together, and it felt natural to reunite them for this new Jeans campaign, which will inevitably reignite that spark and highlight the sexy, cool essence of both Kate and Calvin Klein," said Fabien Baron, the creative director of the campaign, which is to be shot in New York this week.

Appearing with Moss will be British male model Jamie Dornan.

Moss previously worked with the brief-ly clad Mark Wahlberg in her original Calvin campaign.

                          • Peterson Family Denied Money from House

Scott Peterson's mother has lost a legal battle to the parents of the slain Laci Peterson over money from last year's sale of Scott and Laci's house.

Jackie Peterson said in court Thursday that she had continued to pay more than $35,000 for mortgage and other expenses for the Modesto, Calif., residence during a time when Scott was arrested and convicted of killing Laci. (Peterson, 33, is on death row at San Quentin Prison.)

An attorney for Laci Peterson's mother, Sharon Rocha, said creditors can only be reimbursed for debts that have accrued before a death, not after -- and the probate judge agreed.
