"He came over and talked to me and we were together for several months. It was the first time I experienced love at first sight."
Other tracks stem from a more painful experience – the year-long love affair she had with someone who committed suicide.
"I was 20 at the time, and I didn't understand his depression.
"I had thought that I could make him happy, but I've learnt since that life isn't always that straightforward."
She talks of one day marrying and having children, but for now her focus is on the mission she started.
Having secured the freedom of Nazanin Fatehi, she is spearheading the fight to save other minors on Iran's death row.
"We've saved one life. Now we have to keep up the pressure until no child is ever threatened with execution again."
For Nazanin, the scars on her father's back are a permanent reminder that no one can afford to be complacent about injustice.
"I look at some of my peers who, like me, escaped Iran. They walk around with their Gucci purses and prefer to forget what their families left behind.
"But it is up to our generation to fix the problems of our forefathers."
A cynic might say that she is impossibly idealistic, and yet the release of Nazanin Fatehi is proof that it is possible to make a difference.
"It's no good just having dreams, you have to make them your goals," she says. "That way, the world really can become a better place."
