    Desserts Your Man Will Love

    As the saying goes, "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach." This week, LYC shows you how to tempt your man with a variety of sweets by giving you mens' top five choices for delicious desserts. You'll have him eating out of your hand (literally, if you want) when you bring one of these delicious recipes to the table!

    New York Cheesecake
    with Berry Topping



    You Will Need:

    Crust
    1 ¾ cup graham cracker crumbs
    ½ cup granulated sugar
    ¼ cup softened butter

    Filling
    4 eggs
    1 lb ricotta cheese
    16 oz cream cheese
    1 ½ cup sugar
    ½ tsp lemon juice
    ½ tsp vanilla
    3 Tbsp corn starch
    3 Tbsp flour
    ¼ cup melted butter
    1 pt sour cream

    Topping
    1 (12 oz) pkg frozen raspberries
    water
    2 Tbsp sugar
    2 Tbsp cornstarch
    1/3 cup real maple syrup

    Directions:


    Blend crust ingredients with fork.

    Grease bottom and sides of 10” springform pan.

    Press crust mixture into the bottom of pan pushing it slightly on the sides.

    Combine cheeses and whisk until smooth.

    Add sugar and whisk until smooth again.

    Add one egg and beat until smooth. Repeat for the remaining three eggs.

    Add vanilla, lemon, flour, corn starch and butter. Mix until smooth.

    Fold in sour cream until smooth.

    Pour cheese mixture over crust.

    Put cake in cold oven.

    Heat oven to 325 degrees and bake for one hour.

    Turn oven off and let cake sit for two hours without opening oven door.

    Meanwhile, prepare topping.

    Defrost berries in a small sauce pan on low heat.

    Drain berries and set aside, reserving syrup in a separate bowl.

    Add water to syrup if necessary to make half a cup.

    In the saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch.

    Put on medium heat.

    Immediately stir in reserved raspberry liquid and maple syrup.

    Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and boil for 1 minute.

    Add raspberries.

    Remove from heat and cool at room temperature.

    Chill, drizzle with raspberry topping, and serve.

    Apple Pie A La Mode



    You Will Need:

    Filling
    7 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
    1 cup sugar (use less if using sweeter apples)
    2 Tbsp flour
    2 tsp cinnamon
    ½ tsp nutmeg
    1 Tbsp lemon zest, finely grated
    2 Tbsp butter, softened

    Crust
    2 cups flour
    2/3 cup butter or shortening
    ½ tsp salt
    cold water

    Directions:


    Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

    Mix flour, butter or shortening, and salt in pastry blender or stir and mash with fork until batter clumps and balls are size of large peas.

    Spoon cold water into batter one teaspoon at a time and blend, discontinuing when bowl begins to clean itself with the dough as you blend.

    Set dough aside.

    In a large bowl, mix together apples and sugar.

    Add flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon rind.

    Set mixture aside.

    Split crust dough in half and roll into two circles.

    Line pie pan with one crust, crimp edge, and trim excess.

    Pour filling into crust.

    Top with dots of softened butter.

    Brush crimped edge with water and place crust top over pie.

    Crimp top crust onto the bottom crust.

    Slice a few one-inch slits in the top crust.

    Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.

    Turn oven down to 350 degrees and bake for 45 more minutes.

    Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

      Chocolate Chip Cookies



      You Will Need:

      1 cup butter or margarine, room temperature
      1 cup brown sugar
      2 eggs
      2 tsp vanilla
      3 cups all-purpose flour
      1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 2 tsp hot water
      ½ tsp salt
      2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
      1 cup coarsely chopped nuts

      Directions:


      Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

      In a medium/large bowl, cream butter using hand mixer on medium.

      Add sugar and beat on low for 30 seconds or until combined.

      Beat in eggs one at a time.

      Stir in vanilla, baking soda water, and salt.

      Stir in flour.

      Fold in chocolate chips and nuts.

      Spoon dough in two inch diameter dollups onto ungreased baking sheets.

      Bake on middle rack of oven for about 10 minutes or until edges are nicely browned.

        Tiramisu



        You Will Need:

        6 Tbsp sugar
        6 eggs, separated
        ½ cup heavy cream
        ¼ cup sour cream
        1 ½ lbs cream cheese, softened
        2 tsp Kahlua, marsala, brandy,or rum
        1 (4.4 oz) dry ladyfingers
        ¾ cup brewed espresso
        Unsweetened cocoa powder
        Shredded chocolate for garnish

        Directions:


        Spread ladyfingers to line the bottom of large casserole dish.

        In a small bowl, combine kahlua or brandy with espresso.

        Drizzle espresso mixture over ladyfingers and set aside.

        In a medium bowl, combine egg yolks and sugar.

        Beat on medium speed until smooth, thick, and lemon-colored (4-5 minutes).

        In a separate bowl, combine heavy cream, sour cream, and cream cheese.

        Add cheese mixture to sugar mixture and blend on medium speed until evenly blended.

        In a large bowl, beat egg whites on medium speed until soft peaks form.

        Gently fold egg whites into cheese mixture.

        In an 8 cup soufflé dish, layer ingredients: ½ the lady fingers, ½ the cheese mixture, sprinkled cocoa.

        Repeat layering, finishing with cocoa and then sprinkle shaved chocolate if desired.

        Cover and chill for at least two hours, preferably six.

        Spoon onto dessert plates to serve.

          Better Than Sex Dessert



          You Will Need:

          Crust
          1 cup chopped pecans
          1 stick soft butter
          1 cup flour

          Filling
          1 cup powdered sugar
          1 cup whipped cream
          1 (8oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
          1 pkg vanilla instant pudding
          1 pkg chocolate instant pudding
          2 cups milk

          Topping
          Whipped cream
          Heath bar, crumbled

          Directions:


          Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

          In a medium bowl, mix together pecans, butter, and flour.

          Press mixture into 9 x13 glass baking dish.

          Bake for 20 minutes.

          Remove from oven and let cool.

          Meanwhile, combine powdered sugar, whipped cream, and cream cheese in a medium bowl.

          Spread cream mixture over cooled crust.

          Combine puddings and milk in a medium bowl and beat on medium-low speed until thickened (about 2 minutes.)

          Spread pudding over cream layer.

          Top with whipped cream and Heath bar crumbles.

          Refrigerate for at least two hours, up to 24 hours.
