How to Avoid Attention
Avoiding attention is not hard. You don’t have to keep people from seeing you, you just make sure they don’t dwell on your presence.
Steps
Consider where you are. Think about who will be where you are going, what they will be wearing, how they will be acting and etc. This step will help you decide how to best blend in with the people populating it.
Tone down your attire. Try to copy the style of the people you are with yet with muted colors. The key here is to be the median, don’t be the guy wearing the tightest clothes, but don’t be the guy wearing the loosest clothes; don’t be the neatest, but don’t be the sloppiest. Make sure if anyone tried to refer to you as, “that guy wearing the ...‿ they would be describing three quarters of the people in the group. This means wearing nothing to stand out.
Tone down your actions. Do what everyone else is doing, but to a lesser degree. If everyone is laughing, chuckle; if everyone is crying, shed a tear.
Make sure not to do something to draw attention to yourself.
Keep personal interactions to a minimum. Try to avoid eye contact. Try not to initiate conversation with anyone. If someone initiates with you be polite, but dull not giving them any reason to want to continue talking to you. If someone has a problem with you concede fault and apologize to end the dispute as quickly as possible.
If possible keep moving. When you are not in the same place very long there will be less time for people to notice you. If you are at a crowded social gathering, casually walk from place to place as if you are trying to get somewhere, few will notice that you never seem to arrive.
Have confidence. Act like you belong and no one will think you’re out of place. However, be careful not to over do it, people can spot phonies.
