Well i think you just take a biased opinion on either your religious beliefs or experience. Just an observation, you can correct me if i am wrong. but here is the thing... this real world you talk about is full of things that you would call grotesque or experimental. yeah that is of course an opinion, hence where is the line that we draw seperating opinion from fact, but you cannot even deny that this world or the "healthy countries" as you have called them are without or exist without these ajeeb goings-on. i mean, porn is a term coined by scientists to explain what our desires and lusts seek. Is it wrong to want to touch and kiss and be with someone in ways which some of us would undoubtedly cringe at? and is it wrong to watch people do these things, knowing that we have dont the same things behind doors, or havent wanted to do these things? i agree with you that is it a phase of experimentation that we go through, but i dont think that we ever grow out of it, because it is a source from which we can get endless amount of pleasure and fantasy from. Of course America does have a lot of porn venues because of the demand for it. And i think it has to do with culture, but then there is the question of if america has such a demand for porn, and by no means is america under oppression, then how do you qualify your statements. if impoverished countries are healthy than i guess there wouldnt be a need for porn because they are too busy standing in mile long lines waiting to buy milk and bread, or working 2 to 3 jobs to support their families, so i guess then, the need or desire for anything but rest is out of the question. and so the circle continues ...

first you definately jumped into conclusions about me. about your argument, you would have to define oppression. the US is a actually textbook oppressive and repressive. Repression means you do not *feel* free to do what you want to do and be yourself. you have to think about this hard to verify it. you might think the US has "freedom", but it is a very narrow definition of freedom. Canada is much freer, the people more freaky AND healthy, and there is very little porn production in comparison. same with europe.

also, you don't differentiate the HUGE difference between (1) being freaky or "grotesque", and (2) going on tape being freaky as your day job. I also accept that taping things, and even making it available in the fringes of society might be legitimate to some extent (like they do in non-anglo europe). About it being a "phase", first you have to appreciate that human beings don't always have a set "nature", they change often. Second, its clear that there are degrees of porn that may fit or not fit in human nature. the US is about excession. Its about obesity, addiction, etc. Its about going beyond what human nature is made for. So I'm against the extent of it if anything.

Last, about whether it is a phase etc, there is a clear test. We have to understand the full list of causes of porn. We have to look at the childhood experiences of people who do porn, their beliefs, and their culture. Then, once we've done this, we look at if their childhood, cultures, beliefs were different, and especially if they were "better", would they still have gone and done porn. Only if the answer to this complex question is yes can you say its "human nature".

but what is human nature ... can YOU explain this? Is this not one of the most intriguing subject of our history? volumes upon volumes of synopses and anylases have been drawn up to TRY and expain us, but we have not yet been explained. we can try to give it a definition or explanation, but its still all theory. so how can we draw the line for where porn becomes un-human and where it is acceptable and normal?

about human nature, its become overly trivial. the u.s. is stuck in its position, so its hard to see, but people and society are by nature progressive. they change if their environment isn't so belligerent to keep things the same. this is scientific/proven.

just a clarification on the different meanings of the term porn. again, I have personal views about it as a legitimate employment and business for a society. People's personal actions are none of my business. Please try to understand the difference.
