          intresting view point.

mitooni rewite your last two sentences about human rights in english. I thin i get what your saying but thene some times, farsi is so rich that one word even if can translated right, will have a diffrnt conotation from the its english translation.

The point is that colonial hegemony was full of the MAN's supremacy, and this automatically caused cultures and societies that wanted recognition to also adopt sexist attitudes and practices. This can be seen even when a culture or society traditionally respected their women more or equal to their men like many parts of India as well as many African and Native American cultures. Male-dominated economics of the colonial hegemonist caused these cultures to seek recognition and survival by going against their more egalitarian norms and making the man in charge of things.

The point was that an Islamic government seeking recognition in a male-dominated economy and society, as established by colonialists, will adopt versions of their laws and practices that are skewed towards men. And this is potentially greater in Islam than other cultures, though I wouldnt' say that it is inevitable in Islam. Islam has many interpretations, including egalitarian and human rights-compatible interpretations.

This is why the human rights issue in Iran is a shared blame between the colonial West and the Iranian revolution.

I'm going to respond to your other post soon....

i have to say that is a new way of looking at it for me but then during the shah wasnt their more of a clonial presence in iran, and even then i think their were more rights, probebly even in fundimandilist muslim movment, becuase the rest of the people who wanted change the leftis, communist, socialist, libertarians, they decided to let khomaini be their mascot or voice until he hijacked it. for a libaral who is in persuit of liberty or a communist to trust a religious movment or make a coalition with it means alot.

what I'm saying is that the colonial presence during the shah is still a factor to current day mard salari and human rights abuse. is this trivial?
