City Year co-founder Alan Khazei, a member of the Democratic Party, will run in the special election for the seat long held by Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy, he confirmed in an e-mail to friends and colleagues this morning. "Because like all of you, I have dedicated myself to empowering people from all backgrounds to make a difference and strengthen our democracy, today a group of citizens is picking up petitions and helping me take the necessary steps to participate in the special election in Massachusetts," wrote Khazei
