                Ferrari confident of Canada victory
'It took a huge effort from everybody' - Schumacher

Ferrari boss Jean Todt has tipped Michael Schumacher to finally join the fight for victory in Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix. Schumacher, who has won the last three races at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, has had little to smile about this season after seeing his dominant form of 2004 overhauled by his rivals.

He has only once looked like a contender for victory, when he battled Fernando Alonso all the way to the finish at the San Marino Grand Prix, but Todt is confident after watching Schumacher secure a front row grid

Yamaha's Italian rider Valentino Rossi has won the MotoGP race of the Catalunya motorcycling grand prix in Barcelona.

Rossi won this sixth leg of the 16-race world championship ahead of Honda riders Sete Gibernau and Marco Melandri.

Gibernau, who started on pole, held the lead in front of his home supporters until three laps from the finish, when Rossi took over.

It was Rossi's fifth GP win of the season, his fourth in a row.

The 250cc race was won by reigning champion Daniel Pedrosa of Spain on a Honda, and Italy's Mattia Pasini on an Aprilia won the 125cc race.

Damn...in bacheh cheghadar lucky hast !!!

                    Subaru WRX STi vs... Porsche?

.....the 2005 Subaru WRX STi for less than 24 hours and already I've had the driver of a new Porsche 911 (clearly suffering from a mid-life crisis) try to get me to race on the freeway. I declined, but I did treat him to a quick preview of the STi's potential when I zipped around a slow-moving pickup. (You don't accelerate the STi; you launch it.) All of which begs the question: Which is better, the soul and suave of the Porsche, or the Subaru's mindless pursuit of power through superior technology? The Subaru's well-balanced all-wheel-drive layout is clearly superior to the Porsche's pendulum-like arrangement with it's engine hung out behind the rear wheels. And while a Porsche is a Porsche, it's also twice the price of an STi. Currently, Japanese sport-luxury sedans like the Infiniti G35 are rapidly overtaking German competitors like the new BMW 3-series. Could the German supercars be the next to fall? The STi has me wondering.

                            2005 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas

Decades of prestige are behind this British luxury sedan, which enjoys a pedigree evolved from success in motor racing and is often the vehicle of choice for royalty, politicians, and captains of industry. Underneath those exquisite lines lies an all-aluminum body and a 32-valve, double-overhead-cam aluminum V-8, harmonised with a 5-speed automatic. The long wheelbase Vanden Plas version we tested starts at $71,995. It is backed by a comprehensive 4-year/50,000-mile limited warranty.

                            First Glance
When the first XJ sedan appeared in 1969, Jaguar creator and boss Sir William Lyons advertised it as having "Pace, Space, and Grace." Those words certainly apply to the 2005 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas: Sprinting from 0-60 in 6.3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 121 mph, it has pace. With those added inches it offers prime ministers and leggy basketball players plenty of space. And unlike almost every new car on the road today, the XJ symbolizes grace.

The Vanden Plas combines Jaguar tradition with modern technology in subtle ways: no in-your-face styling like the new Cadillacs, no F1-influenced look of a Mercedes S-Class, no 1938 Auto-Union race car aggressiveness of an Audi A8. Instead it murmurs quietly of six LeMans 24-hour victories and with its long hood, short deck and low-to-the-road stance, awakens the curiosity of those who lack a sense of motoring history. In plainer words, the XJ has a presence capable of speaking for itself.

Yet there is a segment of the luxury car market ñ in many cases chauffeur-driven ñ that demands added back seat space and it was for them that the long-wheelbase XJ was created. The Vanden Plas (named after a Belgian coachbuilder) version offers a further touch of class.
