عيب بزرگ علي دايي

شيراز ، زمستان سال 1366. ليگ قدس _ ابتكار مرحوم پرويز دهداري ، معلم اخلاق و مربي فوتبال ،براي اينكه فوتبال سراسري ايران به شكل آرام و خفيف زندگي كند _ ديگر انجام نمي شد. بازيهاي باشگاههاي تهران نيز با قهرماني پرسپوليس ، نايب قهرماني دارايي ( تيمي كه ديگر وجود ندارد ) و سوم شدن استقلال به پايان رسيده بود . به دوره استراحت زمستاني فوتبال در ايران وارد شده بوديم

در چنين حال و هوايي ، شيراز ميزبان چند تيم از تهران و چند شهر ديگر بود . دارايي تهران ، جوانان ايران ، . . . و اردبيل قهرمان يك دوره مسابقه كه آن هم قبلاً انجام شده بود . اول بار ، دايي را در همين بازيها ديديم : تيم جوانان ايران با تيم اردبيل بازي مي كرد . حسين لطفي ، مربي جوانان ، هر كار مي كرد ، ياران جوانش از پس مهاجم لاغر اندام و بلند بالاي اردبيل كه شبيه به (( كيم جاي هان )) بلند قد ترين مهاجم كره جنوبي در دهه 70و 80 بود ، بر نمي آمدند

آن جوان اسمي غير متعارف داشت : دايي . بعد ها او را در تيم دانشگاه صنعتي شريف ديديم . منوچهر نظري ، شيفته وار درباره (( سانتر فوروارد )) تيمش حرف مي زد و ما رفتيم ديديم كه او ، همان (( دايي )) تيم اردبيل است كه حالا در دانشگاه هم درس مي خواند و هم تمرين مي كرد . دايي چندين ماه بعد وقتي در تيم تاكسيراني ، آقاي گل بازيهاي دسته دوم تهران شد ، اسمي به هم زد . جلال طالبي در همان زمان او را ديد و با نظر خريداري نگاهش كرد و گفت : (( بهترين مهاجم ايران خواهد شد .)) البته آقا جلال ، يك سياهه بلند بالا هم براي تمرين او نوشت . از همان روزها ، علي دايي را جور ديگري ديديم

آدمي متكي به خود ، زحمت كش ، پر تلاش كه از گزافه گويي بيزار است و بيشتر از آن ، از آويزان شدن به اين و آن بيزاري نشان مي داد . خصلت متكي بودن به خود بودن و هر چيز را با تمرين و كوشش به دست آوردن ، روز به روز در علي دايي بيشتر تقويت شد . وقتي به تيم بانك تجارت رفت ، فوتبال تهران فهميد كه صاحب چه استعداد بالقوه اي شده است . ناصر حجازي ، مربي بانك تجارت بود و علي دايي مهاجم نوك اين تيم . بزرگترين عيب دايي _ آويزان نشدن به اين و آن ، متكي بودن به خود _ از اين به بعد بيشتر نمايان شد و كساني كه البته تعدادشان كم شمار است ، اما مي خواهند تاثيرشان زياد باشد ، كه البته نيست هيچگاه اين عيب را بر او نبخشيدند . دايي ، متملق نبود ، زبان بازي نمي كرد ، چاپلوسي را نمي شناخت ، حتي اهل مداهنه نيز نشد . دايي همواره كوشيد (( علي دايي)) بماند و ماند

كساني كه او را جور ديگري مي خواستند ، اين عيب را هم بر عيب قبلي اش اضافه كردند و به اين دو جرم ( اعتماد به نفس و تلاش و كوشش مستمر ) او را هرگز نبخشيدند . دايي در فوتبال ايران به همه جا رسيد . اما هنوز مثل همان جوان لاغر اندام زمستان سال 1366 ، با تمام وجود و از ته دل بازي مي كند . براي دايي ، او هيچگاه بهترين و موثر ترين و گرانقيمت ترين (پس مواظبت كردني ترين ) بازيكن ايران نيست . هنوز هم به خاطر گرفتن يك توپ پاي خود را در معرض خشن ترين تكل ها و حمله هاي حريفان قرار مي دهد . از مبارزه روياروي نمي ترسد و چون به موقعيتي با احتمال 10 درصد گل زدن مي رسد ، از شيرجه زدن _ حتي روي پاي حريفان _ ابايي ندارد . در اين لحظات او انگار (( بي خردانه )) عمل مي كند . اگر تا بحال به تمرینات تیم هایی که علی دایی را به همراه داشته اند سر زده باشید حتما دیده اید که او همیشه مثل بچه های حرف گوش کن به صحبتهای مربی گو ش می کند تا همیشه به سوی کمال حرکت کند.به قول حمید علیدوستی هر ۴ جلد کتاب به سوی کامیابی آنتونی رابینز در دایی خلاصه شده است

To Daei or not to Daei

The city of Ardebil in Azarbaijan province of Iran has produced two heroes for the country breaking world records in their respective fields; the +105 KG weightlifter better known as the Iranian Hercules Hussein Rezazadeh and the ruthless team melli striker Ali Daei.

Born on March 21st 1969 the 1.92 m tall striker made his debut for the national side at the age of twenty four in June 1993 which made him a late starter, but he has since scored a world record 107 goals for Iran. Daei's most memorable game came against South Korea at the quarter final stage of Asia 96 finals; with Iran trailing South Korea 1-2 at half time Iran came out fighting with Daei setting up Azizi to equalise the match before scoring four times himself to secure a 6-2 win for Iran. Daei was also the first Iranian player to play in UEFA Champions League with appearances for Bayern Munich and Hertha Berlin, Daei scored goals against giants such as AC Milan and Chelsea.

In recent years however many Iranian fans and some media have called for Daei to be dropped from the national team due to his age (36) and performance, sadly Daei has had to endure insults and false accusations made against him in public; some fans even celebrated when Daei picked up an injury in the league and missed Iran's crucial world cup qualifier against Qatar! Only days earlier Daei had scored Iran's second goal against Jordan giving Iran that vital away goal edge in a 0-2 win, Iran had lost to Jordan in Tehran 0-1 earlier in the campaign, Daei was Iran's top scorer in world cup 2002 and 2006 qualifiers as well as Asia 96 and 2000 finals.

Is this the way to threat a national hero? Is it acceptable for fans to celebrate when Daei gets injured? Fans have even attacked and insulted the head coach Branko Ivankovic for not dropping Daei from team melli!

Should Daei be in Iran's squad in world cup 2006 finals? I do not believe Daei should be judged by his age but by his contribution to the team. For instance the 38 year old Cameroon captain Roger Milla carried his team practically single-handed to the quarter-finals of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. Incredibly, he also played four years later in the USA.

Daei is more than just a striker, his sharp vision makes him an excellent provider; it was Daei's assists for instance that led to Mahdavikia's goal against USA in WC98 and Azizi's goal against Australia in Melbourne in WC98 qualifier. Daei is always closely marked by at least two defenders if not more, Daei is often used as a decoy to take defenders away with him and provide space for others to do the damage; this tactic was used effectively by Ivankovic in Iran's quarter final match against South Korea with Iran winning 4-3 in Asia 2004, Iran's opponents are fully aware of the damage Daei can do if he is not closely marked so whether they mark Daei closely or not he is a menace to the opposition.

Last but not least Daei is a leader and a morale booster while his strong physique is an intimidation to the opposition. Daei's vast experience is an asset for Iran, he is good in the air and a clinical penalty taker, even world class teams have lost world cup matches due to world class players missing penalties.

With just over five months left to world cup finals it is time Iranian fans and media united behind their team, coach and players, it is time to unite and support our team, it is time to stop arguing whether to Daei or not to Daei. While constructive criticism is considered as positive feedback, insulting and attacking any of our players would only help our opponents.

I believe Daei can help Iran in WC2006 finals, his presence is crucial for Iran as a leader, striker and as a menace to opposition. Daei will be 37 in WC2006; he might not be a 90 minute player and should be substituted during the second half but his presence on the field remains crucial for Iran in the next six months. In a recent interview with Nader Jahanfard Daei has confirmed he will be retiring from team melli after Germany 2006.

Ali Daei has confirmed that Germany 2006 will be his international swansong.

The 36-year-old Iranian is a legend in his homeland after racking up an impressive international record of 107 goals in 145 appearances, but he says that he will hang up his international boots after the summer.

He also revealed his shock at seeing a number of African teams being seeded ahead of Team Melli in Friday's World Cup group draw, whilst also declaring that the world had better watch out for Branco Ivankovic's men.

"I will say goodbye to the national team after the end of the World Cup in Germany," he confirmed to Footballmedia.net.

"Iran is not going to be a pushover in Germany. We might surprise the world.

"We have always done better against African teams and football in Iran, Japan and South Korea is ahead of football in Africa!"

'The Wizard of Tehran' also said he was pleased with the grouping of Iran with Mexico, Portugal and Angola, stating that Iran's goal is to advance to the second round and be amongst the top 16 teams in Germany .
