Real Madrid arrive in China. Doubts injured Beckham will play
A welcoming party had turned out to meet the stars as they got off the team coach at the "Grand Epoch City" resort, 50 kilometres outside Beijing.
Some fans had got up as early as four o'clock in the morning (local time) to greet the parade of 'Los Galacticos' as Real Madrid arrived in China early on Wednesday morning.
The entourage landed at Beijing Airport before driving straight to a resort hotel outside the city to start their tour of Asia.
A welcoming party had turned out to meet the stars as they got off the team coach at the "Grand Epoch City" resort, 50 kilometres outside Beijing.
Brazilian star striker Ronaldo and David Beckham, one of their star midfielders and England captain, had garlands of flowers placed around their necks before walking 200 metres through grandiose gardens to reach the hotel check-in.
Beckham had reportedly suffered a slight hamstring strain while taking a free kick against the L.A. Galaxy in California on Monday night and was asked if he would be playing in China.
Madrid are scheduled to play against Chinese Super League side Beijing Guo'an on Saturday 23rd July before leaving for Tokyo on Sunday.

Real Madrid beat Beijing Hyundai 3-2 in friendly match
Real Madrid rallied to beat Beijing Hyundai (formerly called Beijing Guoan) 3-2 in a rain-soaked friendly match in Beijing Saturday night.
Beijing Hyundai opened the score in the 32nd minute through Lu Jiang. Real Madrid's Laul Gonzales Blanco levelled the scoring four minutes later in front of 40,000 local fans.
In the 73th minute, Jelic of Beijing Hyundai overpowered Pavon of Real Madrid and kicked the ball past Real Madrid goalie Casillas into the net.
Six minutes later, Guti of Real Madrid stunned rivals Beijing Hyundai and scored an equalizer.

Real Madrid start Asian tour in rain and snub
Real Madrid's second exhibition trip to Beijing in three year was greeted with downfall and relatively slight from Chinese soccer fans.
Real Madrid opened their Asian tour in Beijing in the Workers' Stadium against Beijing Hyundai on Saturday evening in heavy rain, which has kept pouring since the morning and turned the field into a swamp.
Heavy rain dampened Chinese fans' enthusiasm for Real's super stars. Only a little more than half seats of the stadium, with a full capacity of more than 70,000 people, were occupied in contrast to the sellout crowd in the United States when Real played their first two tour games.
Right before the start of the match, more than 600 RMB yuan tickets had been sold at the price of 200 yuan by scalpers out of the stadium, and the 180-yuan ones depreciated to 40.
In an internet survey conducted by the web company sina.com.cn, over 96 percent of participants thought that Real came to China with the sole goal of making money. About 62 percent said they wouldn't support Real for sure if they came again, and another 27 percent said they were bored by the super star show and wouldn't be crazy as before.
Real Madrid first came to Beijing in 2003 also on an exhibition tour.
The Spanish soccer giants are on their pre-season tour of the United States and Asia. They are to play two matches in Japan and another in Bangkok before returning to Madrid on July 30.

Real aiming for goal glut in Japanese friendly
TOKYO, July 24 Real Madrid have warned that they will show no mercy against troubled Tokyo Verdy in the first of two pre-season friendlies in Japan on Monday.
The Spanish giants take on a Verdy side who have conceded 26 goals in their last six games and have just fired Argentine coach Osvaldo Ardiles.
"Verdy may have problems but that doesn't concern us," Real captain Raul told a news conference after the team's arrival in Japan on Sunday.
"We will still be trying to score as many goals as possible. All the players are proud to be part of this Real Madrid team and we will be looking to prove our strength tomorrow."
Real Madrid beat China's Beijing Guo'an 3-2 on Saturday in the third game on their lucrative six-match pre-season tour.
England captain David Beckham missed the game in Beijing after sustaining a hamstring injury in the United States last week and is doubtful to start against Verdy.
"I have still not decided who will start yet," said Real coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo. "We will have a look at how players react in training tomorrow and then I'll have a better idea."
Real Madrid are set to earn around $25 million from their tour of the United States and Asia.
However, their critics argue that their punishing pre-season trips have hurt their form in La Liga and the Champions League in recent seasons. Midfielder Guti refuted those claims.
"It is true that it's a long trip," he said. "But I think the advantages far outweigh the fatigue factor."
Real began their pre-season tour with a 3-1 win over Mexico's Chivas Guadalajara in Chicago and a 2-0 victory against the Los Angeles Galaxy in California.
They play J-League side Jubilo Iwata in Tokyo on Wednesday before finishing their trip with a friendly in Bangkok.

The Portuguese winger came on as a second-half substitute in Real's 3-1 pre-season win over Japan's Jubilo Iwata and said later he felt unsettled about his future.
"My situation is strange," Figo told Reuters. "Of course, I just want to play football - hopefully with Real Madrid. But if I don't have chances here, I have to move."
European champions Liverpool and Inter Milan have been linked with the former world footballer of the year in the close season.
"Things with Liverpool have stopped ... but for me I'm happy that big clubs are interested in me. I just want to play football though," Figo said.
Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti has said his club were in talks with Figo who has been at Real since his controversial move from Barcelona five years ago.
Figo said he had heard nothing about a possible move during Real's pre-season tour of the United States and Asia.
"I'm here concentrating on Real Madrid and don't have any news about signing (for Inter)," the 32-year-old said. "I just want to try to make the most of the minutes I get."
Figo fell out with coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo after being consigned to the bench for the latter part of last season.
He played an important role in their 2002 European Champions League triumph and 2003 Spanish league title campaign.
