نیه*تو از سال 2006 تاکنون در رقابتهای جهانی حضور دارد و پیش از این تنها دو بار در مقامهای دوم و سوم به سکو رفته بود و این اولین پیروزی او در این رقابتها بود.

با این پیروزی، حوادث شروع فصل گذشته رقابتها در قطر تکرار شد با این تفاوت که امسال تیم سوزوکی، نیه*تو را بعنوان راننده تازه خود و جایگزین مکس بیاجی برنده مسابقه افتتاحیه سال گذشته به کار گرفته بود.

مکس بیاجی راننده ایتالیایی دوکاتی که سال گذشته در اولین سال حضورش در رقابتهای سوپربایک با تیم کورونا سوزوکی مقام سوم قهرمانی فصل را از آن خود کرده بود، امسال با اعتماد به نفس بیشتر و با تیم جدیدتر، دوکاتی، تشنه مقامی بهتر از سومی است. او توانست در مرحله صبح دوم و بعداز ظهر سوم شود و جای خود را در مکان دوم جدول قهرمانی ثبت کند.

روبین زاووس هم تیمی اسپانیایی بیاجی که از سابقه بیاجی و قدرت موتور تازه خود رضایت دارد نیز توانست در مرحله صبح به مقام چهارم و بعداز ظهر دوم دست یابد.

انتظار می رفت تیم یاماها به رانندگی تروی کورسا از استرالیا و نوریاکی هاگا از ژاپن نایب قهرمان فصل گذشته تا با استارت قوی ای که در هر دو مرحله زدند به راحتی در مکان های اول و دوم قرار بگیرند.

اما تروی کورسا که مسن ترین راننده این رقابتها است در هر دو مرحله صبح و بعدازظهر از مکان اول استارت زد، ولی چندی نگذشت که به راحتی رانندگان دیگر توانستند از او سبقت بگیرند.


هاگا نایب قهرمان فصل گذشته، فصل تازه را با عملکردی نه چندان مطمئن و اشتباهاتی غیرمنتظره آغاز کرد

نوریاکی هاگا نیز که از مدعیان قهرمانی امسال است، در مرحله صبح با اشتباهی که از یک راننده با سابقه مثل او بعید بود، سرپیچ با سرعت بیش از 100 کیلومتردر ساعت دست چپش را از موتور ول کرد و درجا زمین خورد و در مرحله دوم هم با مشکل فنی روبرو شد و به مقامی بهتر از سیزدهم نرسید.

بیلیس دو بار قهرمان رقابتهای جهانی سوپربایک، در مرحله صبح با تجربه کافی، و سبقت های آرام و ماهرانه باعث شد تا در نیمه های راه خود را جلوتر از همه و پیشتاز این مسابقه ببیند. اما چندی نگذشت که با یک اشتباه سر یکی از پیچها به ناحیه خاکی پیست کشیده شد و چهار مکان عقب افتاد. اما داستان مهارت در سبقت، سابقه و سرعت دوباره تکرار شد و تنها یک پیچ تا پایان مسابقه بیلیس از بیاجی سبقت گرفت و اول شد. او در مسابقه بعداز ظهر نیز به مکان چهارم دست یافت.

این پیروزی اولین پیروزی دوکاتی در پیست لوسیل و اولین پیروزی موتورهای 1098 دوکاتی بود.


سوپربایک
هر مرحله از مسابقات سوپربایک که در دو قسمت صبح و بعد از ظهر انجام می گیرد، معمولا برنده مجزایی دارد که در مسابقه ابتدای فصل، مرحله اول را بیلیس و مرحله دوم را نیه*تو برد.

Home favourite Dani Pedrosa dominated from the start to claim a comfortable victory in the Catalunya MotoGP.

Pedrosa passed pole-sitter Casey Stoner on the first corner and built up an impressive lead which was almost eight seconds at one stage.

With Pedrosa out on his own, Stoner and Valentino Rossi had a fierce battle for second place as Rossi fought his way up from ninth on the grid.

With two laps left he found a way past Stoner and held on for second spot.


Britain's James Toseland, who started sixth on the grid, held off a late challenge from Chris Vermeulen to come sixth, matching his best finish so far.

Pedrosa started from second spot and took full advantage of a great start, breaking the two-year old lap record on the second lap.

His second win of the season was never really in doubt, so the main drama of the afternoon was the battle for runner-up spot between reigning world champion Stoner and Rossi, who had started from his worst qualifying position of the season.

He quickly moved up through the field, and by lap nine was up to second place after a breathtaking move to quickly get past Andrea Dovizioso and Stoner.

But the Australian refused to give in without a fight, and by lap 16 he had passed Rossi, but the Italian, wearing specially customised leathers in the style of the Italy football kit, regained second with two laps to go, and held on.

Pedrosa's win cuts Rossi's championship lead down to seven points, but having hauled his way up from such a poor starting place, Rossi was more than happy with his finish.

"I enjoyed it a lot, more than winning the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, because I love a battle and this year we haven't had any," he told BBC Sport.

Toseland was also pleased with his day's work, and the prospect of returning to the familiar surroundings of Donington for the next race.

"I can't wait to get up to Donington, it's hard work on these new tracks," he said.

"To qualify sixth and finish sixth is a good show but I really want to get close to the front.

"I'm going to be pushing so hard, I really want that podium place."

MotoGP: Rossi in control

Valentino Rossi has open up a 25-point lead in the race for the Moto GP championship after his victory in the United States.

Rossi and title rival Casey Stoner were involved in a thrilling tussle for the lead at Laguna Seca - with the race ultimately decided with eight laps remaining.

Defending champion Stoner got too close to Rossi and was forced onto the gravel, allowing the Italian to record his maiden victory at the United States MotoGP.

Stoner was still able to finish in second despite his bike toppling over, with Chris Vermeulen in third with Britain's James Toseland back in ninth.
