این پیروزی سومین پیروزی پیاپی لوئب در رقابتهای فصل جدید قهرمانی رالی و سومین پیروزی پیاپی او در مرحله آرژانتین است و باعث شد تا او از رقیب خود در جدول قهرمانی سه امتیاز پیش بیفتد.

گرونهولم که تا آخرین لحظه در تلاش جبران ثانیه های از دست داده بود، در یکی از پیچها با تکه سنگی برخورد کرد که باعث شد به قسمت عقب اتومبیل صدمه کوچکی بزند و همان باعث شد تا از ادامه این رقبات جنجالی صرف نظر کند و به مقام دومی راضی شود.

میکو هیروونن راننده فنلاندی تیم فورد، هم تیمی گرونهولم سوم شد.

این مرحله از قهرمانی رالی که در نواحی شهر کوردوبا برگزار می شود حدود 700 کیلومتر از مرکز آرژانتین، بوینس آیرس، فاصله دارد.

امسال به خاطر شرایط بد آب و هوایی و باران شدید بسیاری از پروازها به سمت این شهر لغو شد و خیلی از رانندگان شرکت کننده نتوانستند به موقع به شروع مسابقه برسند.


به خاطر شرایط بد آب و هوایی و تاخیر رانندگان روز دوم این مرحله به کلی منحل و به مسیر مشخص شده روز سوم اضافه شد

هر مرحله از اين مسابقات بيش از ۳۰۰ کيلومتر مسافت دارد که بين دو تا سه روز و در قسمتهای مختلف منطقه مشخص شده شهر ميزبان برگزار می شود و این بار با وجود تاخیر رانندگان روز دوم این مرحله به کلی حذف و به مسیر مشخص شده روز سوم اضافه شد.

یاری متی لاتوالا دیگر راننده فنلاندی تیم استوبارت فورد و هنین سولبرگ راننده نروژی به ترتیب چهارم و پنجم شدند.

لوئب که تا کنون در سه دوره پياپی، قهرمان اين مسابقات شده در تلاش است تا خود را به رکورد تامی مکينن، قهرمان فنلاندی سابق اين مسابقات برساند. مکينن از سال ۹۹-۱۹۹۶ چهار دوره پياپی قهرمانی اين مسابقات را از آن خود کرده بود.

لغو رالی داکار بخاطر تهدید تروریسم


استفان پیترهنسل راننده فرانسوی با اتومبیل میتسوبیشی، سال گذشته مقام قهرمانی این مسابقات را از آن خود کرد.
رالی داکار یکی از مهمترین و معروفترین رقابتهای اتومبیلرانی جهان، بدلیل نگرانی از عدم وجود امنیت در مهمترین مسیر این مسابقه، در جمهوری موریتانی در آفریقا لغو شد.
پیش از این در تاریخ 24 دسامبر سال 2007 چهار جهانگرد فرانسوی در این منطقه کشته شدند و مقامات دولت فرانسه سفر به آنجا را ممنوع اعلام کردند.

رالی داکار که هر ساله در ماه ژانویه در مسیر لیسبون تا داکار (پایتخت سنگال) برگزار می شود، 15 مرحله با مسیرهای مختلف دارد که هشت مرحله از آن در مسیر موریتانی قرار دارد.

پس از مذاکرات مکرر سازماندهندگان این مسابقه با مقامات فرانسوی، که به گفته آنها گروه های تروریستی مستقیما آنها را تهدید کرده اند، تصمیم بر آن شده که مسابقات فصل 2008 لغو شود.

سازماندهندگان این رالی در بیانیه ای اعلام کرده اند: "رالی داکار یک نماد و مظهر است و این نماد را هیچ چیز نابود نخواهد کرد. بنابر این لغو این مسابقه، آینده برگزاری آن را به خطر نمی اندازد."

این رقابتها از سال 1979 میلادی بی وقفه هر ساله برگزار می شود و طی ۲9 سال گذشته که مسابقات رالی داکار به دلیل خطرناک بودن مسیرها و تصادفاتی که باعث مرگ بسیاری از راننده ها از جمله اندی کالدکات راننده ۴۱ ساله اهل استراليا و خوان مانوئل اسپانيايی و فبريزيو منويی ايتاليايی شده، تا کنون برخی از مراحل آن لغو شده است اما این اولین بار است که به طورکلی مسابقه با تمام مراحلش قابل اجرا نیست.
