Stuck in Iran

I was stopped last week at passport control because i didn't get my exit visa, that little stamp in your passport which says you can leave the country, it was quite embaressing to have my bags unloaded from the plane of front of a cue of people, anyways i finally got my right to leave this hell hole and should be back to London next week

Anyone traveling to iran, don't take a british passport with you, only use your iranian one, and the first thing you do when you land it to apply for your exit pass thingy, else you will be stuck like me in iran for 2-4 extra working days!

Anyways it was a blessing because chaghale badoom is out now, 25,000 toman per KG... money well spent... plus more dokhtar baziii..

but don't you need your british passport to go back to the UK? or will any other british ID suffice? or perhaps you just don't put it in the cabin bag but in your checked luggage. i am only asking cause i think of the maher arar case, he was a canadian citizen who had a business trip in the US that went sour, they deported him to his homecountry syria, although he was not a passport holder of that country anymore, in these days any middle eastern person needs to have more than one ID on them. anyway he is back in canada and was awarded $10 bux from the cdn government, because they tortured him.

but dokhtarbaazi is a lot easier with a british passport than with an iranian one!

2-4 working days? i know someone who got stuck in iran for 3 months because he hadnt met for years had filed a complaint against him without his knowledge lol.

anyways hope you had a great time in iran. il be going in june

LoL, i guess i wasnt the only one who had the bad exprience getting back, albate mine was mostly when I got to US, but not 2-4 business day but only 4 hrs, but it made me cry for stopping me for no reason in Minniapolise Airport, bunch of RED Neckssss!!!

Last time I went to Iran, my Iranian passport had expired, and the guy at Mehrabad was a bit shocked but he did not cause problems. I applied for my passport renewal in Iran and it was very quick. Nowadays, it is even easier because you can apply in your local neigborhood, and it takes less than two weeks for them to send it via courier to your home.

While at the passport office, I even joked with the guy in military uniform. He told me I did not pay the full fees, and I said no problem I will pay whatever you want - consider it as 'sadegheh' (charity). He got upset and said "You are in no position to give charity to the government", and I said "chashm". No problem after that. I thing they are trying to make it easier for Iranians living abroad, unless you are actively involved in politics against the government, no harm will come to you.
