I think its good to be open with your interest in others. and don't think you're the only one. I've personally been the only Iranian in my group of Indian friends quite a lot and Iranians need to express their deep similarity, bond and interest in Indian culture more as well.Take him and cut him out in little stars,

I've had that worry in every single group I've ever been in. It's always been good to know what people's level of tolerance is and the nature of tolerance itself in order to decide whether I should state my opinion. It is a bit extra difficult, perhaps, to try to assess the psychology of someone from a different culture, but I'm thinking that that may simply be a bias that is best to get rid of. Now that you mention it, I think, for example, that I should not assume that I am different from my Indian, Canadian, US or friends from whatever group when I'm around them. I should think that they have the same basic mentality as myself, because, ultimately, they do. Now that you mention it there have been some universal norms of conversation that safeguard against being offensive and this is where I think your reluctance may be appropriate, at first at least. It is much better to test the playing field like you are doing before jumping the gun, but I don't think there is a big difference between me who is iranian and yourself who isn't in this regard on this forum. There has been pre-context or pre-meditation in every or almost every instance on the appropriateness and relevance of the message I leave to the readers.
However,,, there comes a moment that you've tested enough. Its then time to state your conclusions and arguments and reasons or simply your opinions. Obviously you care about respect. If you didn't, it wouldn't matter, you could state your opinions without giving reason and not care who you offend. But since you care about respect, go all out with those you know I guess. Sometimes your humility is proved and to not state your honest opinion is more inappropriate.
I can tell this was a lot of blabbing with just little use. I think it would be more useful if you asked me personally, even in this thread, what your curiosities are. What are you curious about regarding people's views here or Iranians' views? Many things aren't cliche or aren't at all offensive for people though we would think they are and are fully respected as your opinion or fully agreed with. Overall, I can tell that the population here is very tolerant and respectful of views. But perhaps I can answer a question on a specific issue. I'm personally radically tolerant and your view, no matter what it is, would not receive a shred of judgment from me and I would fully respect it no matter what it is. These things would never even come to my mind. So please let know what your curiosity is either on this thread or through email or pm. I really, really look forward to it.
In addition, let the forum here know if you know of a good Indian forum and those who are interested will go there and you might feel a little better. I'd be interested.

btw Hari (Indian pronounciation) is a very, very nice name; I also admire your love for a different culture and your courage to express it. One of the most enjoyable things is to love a different culture and everyone in the world does it though not many express or promote it, though it would be much better if they did as an interlinked world is inevitable and highly enjoyable.Last edited by zubin; 11-10-2006, 10:03 PM.Take him and cut him out in little stars,

yeah that's too bad. I think the worse thing is outside cultures who think they are superior and interfere with our culture trying to "teach" us democracy or human rights but haven't even opened a real history book or have a shred of psychological knowledge, and who cause the problem in the first place. If these type of powers didn't exist (and it is declining), we would be a fully self-determined country and would have many more privileges. This is what "rationalizes" coercion in our country.
The fact that we're being stalled of our privileges and rights so that some anti-social in the US can get more votes and money is truly sad.
