      Its hard for me to belive that hejab still exist in this day and age, what a useless act and a waste of dignity. Hejab is an arabic custome and not a moslem duty, one only need to read the Quran to know that.
      I would be true, for there are those who trust me;
      I would be pure, for there are those who care;
      I would be strong, for there is much to suffer;
      I would be brave, for there is much to dare.
      I would be friend of all—the foe—the friendless;
      I would be giving and forget the gift;
      I would be humble, for I know my weakness;
      I would look up and laugh—and love—and lift.

        It's actually quite interesting how the hijab or veil came about; it started in europe, and really took off in the greek orthodox community, one can still see some older women wearing it, today particulary in eastern europe, as fashion progressed it changed into hoods and hats. but it was a common practice among church-going women, for example the virgin mary has been depicted as wearing a white veil. baha'is abolished the veil, but staunch muslims are still wearing it, as do nuns in christianty, albeit differently.
