      • Nicole Kidman in Car Accident

Nicole Kidman was briefly hospitalized in L.A. early Thursday after a stunt car crashed into a light pole on the set of her movie The Invasion, police said.

She suffered no serious injuries and was scheduled to return to the set later Thursday.

"There was an accident involving a rigged camera vehicle on the set of The Invasion Wednesday night in Los Angeles," Warner Bros. said in a statement Thursday. "Nicole Kidman was in the vehicle at the time of the accident and was taken to the hospital for evaluation. She was released shortly thereafter."

No other actors were involved. According to police, a total of eight people were brought to the hospital and later released. The studio said two crew members suffered minor injuries.

"The production took the appropriate steps following the incident to ensure the safety of the cast and crew," the studio said in the statement.

The accident occurred shortly before 12:25 a.m. in downtown Los Angeles. An ambulance was sent to the scene, but not needed.

"There were no life-threatening injuries," the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a statement. "They conducted a medical exam but the persons involved sought their own medical attention."

Kidman's husband, Keith Urban, was on set at the time, photos show. Earlier in the day, Kidman's children Isabella, 14, and Conner, 11, were on the set, but had left before the accident.

                  • Brandy Faces Wrongful Death Lawsuit in Car Crash

The parents of the woman killed in a car accident involving R&B singer Brandy filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit Tuesday against the former Moesha star.

The suit, filed by Ahmed Aboudihaj and Zohra Labridi, alleges "Brandy was driving recklessly" when she struck their daughter.

On Dec. 30, Brandy rear-ended 38-year-old Awatef Aboudihaj, a mother of two, on a Los Angeles freeway, causing a chain reaction which ultimately killed the Moroccan immigrant, police say.

At the time of the accident, Aboudihaj was on her way to one of two waitress jobs she held, according to her widow, Hdidou Marouane, 32, an L.A. sales manager.

On Monday, investigators recommended that Brandy be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence. The L.A. City Attorney is reviewing the case.

If charged and convicted, Brandy, 27, faces up to one year in county jail.

"The accident was a terrible tragedy and Brandy's heart goes out to Awatef Aboudihaj's family," Brandy's rep said in a statement. "But for legal reasons we cannot comment on this lawsuit."

                          • Kylie Minogue & Olivier Martinez Split

Australian singer Kylie Minogue and Paris-born actor Olivier Martinez have broken up after four years together, according to a statement released Friday.

"Olivier Martinez and Kylie Minogue have officially confirmed that they are no longer a couple," says the statement issued by reps for the couple. "They have made it clear that the decision to go their separate ways was mutual and amicable. The two remain very close friends."

The pop princess and Martinez are both, it says, "saddened by false [media] accusations of disloyalty."

The couple's parting follows reports that Martinez, 41, was seen with younger women in Los Angeles twice last week while Minogue, 38, remained in Britain.

The Australian entertainer is recovering from a respiratory infection, which caused her to cancel several concert dates in the UK last month. The gigs were part of her worldwide comeback Showgirl tour following her battle to beat cancer.

Minogue earlier this year credited Martinez, who appeared in Unfaithful with Diane Lane and Richard Gere in 2002, with helping her through the dark days of her breast cancer battle. She was diagnosed with the disease in May of 2005.

"He was always there, helping with the practical stuff and being protective," said Minogue, who was given the all-clear last year. "He was incredible. He didn't hesitate in canceling work and putting projects on hold so he could be with me. He's the most honorable man I have ever met."

Minogue began dating Martinez after they met at the Grammy Awards in 2003. After dining in Beverly Hills, Martinez drove her back to her hotel in his 1969 cream convertible E-type Jaguar.
