    Madeline McCann

The appeal for help in the search for Madeleine McCann has been overwhelming around the world. A chain letter from Madeleine’s uncle Phil McCann is being circulated around the world through the internet and was sent to Christian News Today asking for our help...

Madeleine age 4 was at a vacation resort with her parents in Praia Da Luz, Portugal when she was snatched away by an unknown suspect on May 3rd.

According to the Portugal police they are doing every thing they can to find Madeline and bring her home safely.

The Portugal police have interviewed possible suspects, searched the surrounding area around the resort.

However, most important question still remains unanswered.

    Where’s Madeleine McCann ?

Right EyeMadeleine McCann’s family believe she is no longer in Portugal and could have been moved some where else in Europe.

The McCann’s family has asked that the picture to the left of Madeleine’s right eye be sent through out Europe and that the picture of the missing four year-old could play a vital role in the search for her. The photo shows clearly her distinctive right eye, where the pupil runs into the blue-green iris.

According to the McCann family this is very important, as her hair could be cut or died.

Christian News Today is asking our friends through out Europe to watch out for missing Madeleine and if you have any information about her where abouts that you contact your local police department immediately.

The British and Portuguese police are asking anyone to contact them on the numbers below if they have seen anything suspicious related to the disappearance of Madeleine or if you believe you know where Madeleine is being concealed or hidden.

      Madeleine police receive body tip-off

Police searching for the missing British girl Madeleine McCann are investigating claims she is buried close to where she was last seen in Portugal.

The four-year-old has not been seen since May 3rd, when she disappeared from the Algarve resort where she was staying with her parents.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reports that it received a letter from an anonymous sender detailing a location where Madeleine is said to be buried.

The newspaper says that it believes the person who sent the letter also gave them credible information about where to find the bodies of Nathalie Mahy and Stacy Lemmens, two Belgian children found dead last year.

Included with the letter is said to be a map, detailing the location north of Odiaxere, which is about nine miles north-east of Praia da Luz, where Madeleine was snatched from.

Police in Portugal have been handed the letter and are said to be investigating the claims.

"There have been exchanges between Dutch police and us," Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa said.

"The information indicated an area 15km from the place of the disappearance of the little child.

"It is not far from Praia da Luz. We are checking the information like we check everything in this case for importance."

Reports from the scene suggest that detectives have not begun digging up the area yet, amid suggestions that the location is not specific enough.

According to the Dutch report, the letter says the body has been buried "north of the road under branches and rocks, around six to seven metres off the road" in a barren area of land near the resort.

Family bands together in search for Madeline

A FAMILY-RUN business has joined the desperate campaign to help find missing Madeline McCann.

More than a month since the three-year-old went missing, ELF Safety, run by Grant Teasdale and his wife Sarah from their home in Holmesdale Road, Reigate, has revealed plans to distribute 100,000 wristbands to help find her.

The yellow and green bands include a tiny photograph of Madeline's right eye, which is distinctive because the pupil bleeds into the iris, and the international Crimestoppers phone number.

Madeline disappeared from a holiday resort in Algarve villa of Praia da Luz in Portugal on May 3.

The Teasdale's, who have three children - Ellen, 11, Lewis, eight, and Felix, four - came up with the wristband idea when they were contacted by Bankhead School in Glasgow, where Madeline's aunt Diane is a teacher.

The aim of the wristbands is to raise awareness of Madeline and her family's plight as well as acting as a useful tool for people with information that could lead to her discovery.

The Teasdale's hope to recruit airlines across the world to distribute the bands to passengers.

Mrs Teasdale, 39, said: "We are in talks with a tour operator in an attempt to distribute 10,000 bands a day to people from across the globe.

"The bands will not only act as a call to action, but also be a helpful tool in finding the people responsible for Madeline's dis-appearance.

"If someone spots something suspicious here or abroad they can use the band to call the number and hopefully bring her home to her family.

"All it takes is a phone call." Mrs Teasdale expected the bands to be on the plane from their Chinese suppliers this week and is confident they will be available to the public in the next fortnight.

ELF Safety was launched in 2006 and is the brainchild of Mr and Mrs Teasdale's daughter Ellen.

The Reigate Priory School pupil thought of the idea after a family holiday in Bourne-mouth in 2005 when a boy became separated from his parents.

A year on, the company has supplied 750,000 schoolchildren with bands containing their school phone number and a name for people to contact if they are lost.

Due to the success of the bands, the Teasdales have released a new parents pack for family holidays. The aim of the pack is to help find children who go missing while on holiday abroad.

Charity silicone wristbands have become an increasingly fashionable way to show support for organisations.

Champion cyclist Lance Armstrong began the trend when he started wearing yellow bands to raise awareness of his Livestrong charity, which assists cancer sufferers.

Missing Girl's Parents Angry at Media

LISBON, Portugal - The parents of missing 4-year-old Madeleine McCann rebuked the media Thursday for publishing details of an anonymous tip about what might have happened to their daughter.

Police investigating the British girl's May 3 disappearance from a Portuguese hotel said they were checking the tip, which appeared in a Dutch newspaper Wednesday and was widely reported.

The paper said it had given police an anonymous letter it received with a map showing a remote location in southern Portugal where Madeleine might be buried.

The girl's father, Gerry McCann, said in a blog on his Web site that the family was "extremely disappointed" by the revelation.

"Although all information will be taken seriously, we were very upset that the credibility of this letter had not been examined and, more importantly, published before the Portuguese police had an opportunity to investigate the claim, and search the area if appropriate without massive media attention," he wrote.

"We feel strongly that this was an irresponsible piece of journalism and even if it were true, is insensitive and cruel. One can imagine how upsetting it is for Kate and I to hear of such claims through the media and if every piece of information was published like this there would be nothing else in the newspapers."

The location marked on the map is remote scrubland about nine miles from where the girl vanished while on vacation with her family.

Police had said they may use dogs to search the area. No police were seen in the general area, local media reported.

Authorities say they have followed up dozens of leads, including reports of sightings of Madeleine by the public, but none has yielded results.

Madeleine disappeared from a hotel in Praia da Luz, a resort town in Portugal's Algarve region. Her parents left her and her 2-year-old twin siblings alone in their hotel room while they dined at a nearby restaurant.

The couple has launched an international campaign to find the girl, enlisting celebrities such as soccer star David Beckham and J.K. Rowling, author of the "Harry Potter" series.

The McCanns have traveled to Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Morocco to plead for help in the search. They fear Madeleine may have been taken out of Portugal but say they have no plans to return to Britain without her. They also visited the Vatican, where Pope Benedict XVI blessed them and a photograph of Madeleine.

Portuguese police get another tip on girl

Portuguese authorities Wednesday followed up a tip that a missing British girl's body was buried under some rocks.

Police, however, had yet to announce whether they found anything in the location described in a letter reportedly sent by a Dutch source about Madeleine McCann, Diaro de Noticias reported online.

Last week, British authorities said they received a reliable phone call from a source claiming to have information about the child's whereabouts.

The call regarding the 4-year-old girl was said to have originated in Argentina.

McCann was reported missing May 4 from the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz. Portuguese detectives searched the complex and brought in dogs to track her scent.

Her parents have decided to remain in Portugal while the search continues.

Madeline McCann Update - The parents of missing British girl Madeline McCann have said that authorities may never find their 4-year-old daughter.
Kate and Gerry McCann's concession was the first time the couple publicly admitted that their daughter may never been seen again, The Times of London reported Friday.

Portuguese authorities this week had followed up a tip that a missing British girl's body was buried under some rocks.

Police, however, have yet to turn up any trace of the girl.

McCann family 'destroyed key Madeline evidence

Madeleine McCann's friends and family may have destroyed vital evidence in the first few hours after her abduction, according to Portuguese police.

Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa said it was proving difficult for the forensic teams because so many people crowded into the room where she was taken. Their well-meaning actions could prove "fatal" for the investigation, the police officer warned.

His comments came as Kate and Gerry McCann marked 45 days since their four-year-old disappeared with no breakthrough in the case and were described as "very unhelpful" by a source close to the family.

Mr Sousa, a spokesman for the Policia Judiciara, said more than 20 people had gone into the McCann's Mark Warner holiday apartment on May 3, the night Madeleine disappeared.

Among them were friends, family, other holidaymakers and staff from the Ocean Club resort who touched furniture and opened and closed doors.

He told Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias: "The presence of so many people - especially in the room where the little girl slept with her brother and sister - could have at least complicated the work of the forensic team. At the very worst they would have destroyed all the evidence. This could prove to be fatal for the investigation."

DNA samples have been taken from the bedroom and sent to three forensic laboratories in Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra - part of the Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal (INML).

On June 1 a source at the laboratory revealed DNA samples of a "stranger" had been recovered from the room. Police are still waiting for further results.

The McCanns were said to be "dismayed" by Mr Sousa's remarks. A source close to the family said: "It's insensitive at the very least. Of course the family are going to search the apartment. If your child goes missing, you search under the beds, in the wardrobes, behind the doors, everywhere.

"It's inevitable that there were people in the bedroom. Even if what the police are saying is true, it's very unhelpful to say it publicly."

A borough charity is helping the family of missing toddler Madeleine McCann while the search for her continues, according to her uncle.

John McCann, brother of Madeleine's father Gerry, said Missing People, the new name for East Sheen based charity National Missing Persons Helpline, has offered key advice in the search for his niece.

Madeline, four last month, went missing from a holiday villa in Portugal on May 3 and an international hunt has been launched for the Leicestershire toddler.

But closer to home her uncle John said Missing People have helped to keep the case in the public eye, and make sure people around the world know of Madeline.

"They have taken Madeline on as a case," he said. "And they are helping us to do what we are doing, keeping the profile high, to keep the information coming out to the public.

"They have also shown us a bit of equipment which will help show us what Madeleine might look like if her appearance is changed.

advertisement"And if we don't get a quick resolution we will need long term support."

Mr McCann said the family still believed Madeleine was alive, and would continue to do so until they received evidence to the contrary.

He added they would leave no stone unturned in the quest to find her.

Mr McCann was speaking on International Missing Children's Day, May 25, and visited staff and volunteers at the Upper Richmond Road office to lend his support for their work.

His visit also came the day the charity changed its name to Missing People and launched an official yellow charity ribbon.

Paul Tuohy, chief executive of Missing People, said the charity had changed its name because it wanted to show it was more than just a helpline and to establish itself as the authoratitive voice on missing people.

He said the change had been planned for a year and the timing, with one of the biggest missing person cases in UK history ongoing, was co-incidental "Madeleine's disappearance has been a wake-up call that missing is a social issue," he said. "Our charity offers support to around 2000 families each year and directly as a result of our work we find 10 missing people every week.

"There isn't an authoritative voice on missing people in the UK and we need to appeal to the public in a way that we can also get more financial support. A lot of people think we have Government funding, nearly all of our money we need to fundraise.

"We had a turnover of £3m last year, which was our best ever year but if you compare that to Cancer Research, they do £450m a year.

Madeleine McCann Father Has Wallet Stolen With Photos of Maddie Inside

The father of Madeleine McCann had his wallet stolen on a recent trip back to the UK. The theft occurred Tuesday morning when Gerry McCann's, wallet containing precious photographs of his daughter was stolen at Gatwick Airport in London. The UK Daily Mail reports Gerry McCann was had flown from Faro to Gatwick Airport, and was planning to interview candidates to run the campaign to find Madeleine when he was targeted by pickpockets.

Madeleine McCann Father Has Wallet Stolen With Photos of Maddie Inside

It is believed that the criminals stole the wallet as McCann withdrew cash from a till near the Foreign Office in Whitehall. Philomena McCann, Gerry's sister, said the photos “were two pictures, special ones that Gerry always kept with him, showing Madeleine and the wens. They were his favorites, really treasured pictures. They are irreplaceable."

                    ***

Is there no shame? Susan Healey, grandmother of Madeline said Gerry McCann did not know how his wallet was stolen and did not see anyone take it. "It contained precious photographs which have now been lost forever,” she said.

"There can't be many people who don't recognize Kate and Gerry now - shame on the thieves for doing it. Hopefully when they see the photos of Madeleine in the wallet they will realize what they have done." One would hope that someone would have a conscience and turn them in.

                    ***

Gerry writes online: "Unfortunately shortly after arriving in London I had my wallet stolen which meant I was running late. I did manage to get to all my meetings which ran late into the evening. We had very good discussions regarding sustaining the search for Madeleine long term."

He adds that roles will be adjusted soon: "The role for Kate and I in the campaign will not be nearly be so public. We have to balance any campaigning in the search for Madeleine with protecting Sean and Amelie and making sure their privacy is protected."

Pickpocket snatches wallet, cherished pictures of missing British girl

Cherished photographs of a 4-year-old British girl who vanished from a hotel room in Portugal's Algarve region were snatched by a pickpocket in London, a British newspaper reported Wednesday.

Gerry McCann, father of Madeline McCann — who went missing from the resort town of Praia da Luz on May 3 — had his wallet stolen during a brief visit to the British capital Tuesday, London's Evening Standard said.

Madeleine disappeared as her parents left her and her 2-year-old twin siblings alone in their hotel room while they dined at a nearby restaurant.

The couple have since launched an international campaign to find the girl, enlisting the aid of celebrities such as soccer star David Beckham and J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books.

McCann's wallet was stolen close to Tony Blair's Downing Street office after he arrived in London to interview candidates to head a campaign aimed at finding his daughter, the newspaper reported.

"It contained precious photographs which have now been lost forever," the newspaper quoted McCann's mother-in-law Susan Healey as saying.

London police said they had no record of the theft being reported to officers.

Clarence Mitchell, a spokesman for the family, said McCann had attended a meeting at London's Foreign Office on Tuesday, but could not immediately confirm details of the theft.

11 'sightings' of Madeleine in Malta - but police investigations draw a blank

Two more witnesses have come forward to report seeing Madeleine McCann in Malta - but police on the Mediterranean island said their investigations had so far come to nothing.

Maltese authorities revealed they had now received details of 11 separate sightings of the missing four-year-old, dating back as far as May 27.

The reports differ on where the young girl was seen and who was with her, with some witnesses saying she was with a man and others with a woman.

One Maltese man used his mobile phone to take a picture of a child he believed to be Madeleine at a parish feast in the central town of Zejtun on June 17.

Police analysed the photograph but it proved not to be the abducted British girl.

                        A newly-released picture of Madeleine
In a statement Maltese police said: "A full-scale investigation, involving different sections of the force co-ordinated by our serious crime investigations department is ongoing to confirm or otherwise the alleged sightings, which efforts have so far yielded a negative outcome.

"However, investigations are still actively in progress in order to shed more light upon the reported sightings."

The Maltese authorities are keeping their foreign counterparts informed and have put officers stationed at ports on full alert to check people leaving the country.

The first sighting was reported to police on May 27 by a Maltese woman who said she believed she saw Madeleine with a man in the Maltese capital Valletta a week earlier.

On June 17 two female British tourists said they saw a girl fitting Madeleine's description boarding a bus with a middle-aged woman at Floriana, near Valletta.

After this report a formal inquiry headed by a magistrate was launched and the Maltese newspaper In-Nazzjon, The Nation, reported the sightings prompting seven further reports from Maltese citizens to police.

Madeleine was allegedly seen in Valletta and the towns of Sliema, Mdina and Marsascala in the previous weeks, according to the witnesses.

Today police received two further reports of sightings, one yesterday in the village of Bahar-ic-Caghaq and another in Marsascala about a fortnight ago.

Among those who reported a sighting of Madeleine on Malta was Ray Roberts, from Anglesey, north Wales. He said he saw a girl in the north-eastern town of Sliema wearing what he said was a jet black wig being told: "Get up little girl," by an Arab-looking man.

"The more I think about what I saw the more convinced I become that it may well have been Madeleine," he said.

"The oddness of it all played out in my mind until I got home then I realised I had to do something."

But Maltese police have denied that he had made a report to them or has given sworn evidence before the inquiring magistrate.

A spokeswoman for Madeleine's parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, said they would not even think about the alleged sightings in Malta until they were officially confirmed.

She added: "There are lots of reports. If they got that emotionally involved with each one, they wouldn't be able to concentrate on the campaign.

"A lot of them, even though they are well-meaning, amount to nothing. They cannot expend that energy on getting excited or upset or whatever unless they are told by official channels that there is reason for them to do so."

Madeleine was snatched from her bed in her parents' holiday flat in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz on May 3.

Her parents have led an international information drive to promote awareness of her disappearance in the hope that she will be spotted.

Today - the 50th day since Madeleine's disappearance - Mr and Mrs McCann, from Rothley in Leicestershire, said they were still waiting for the "vital breakthrough" in the search for their daughter.

They released 50 green and yellow balloons, each with a photograph of missing four-year-old tied to it, from the beach in Praia da Luz.

The scene was repeated at nearly 300 locations across the UK and around the world as supporters launched thousands of balloons to highlight the sombre anniversary.

The McCann family spokeswoman said they were "totally overwhelmed" by the "spontaneous" balloon release events organised by well-wishers.

As well as in the UK and Portugal, balloons were also released today in Argentina, the United States, Singapore, Australia and Afghanistan.

Mr and Mrs McCann have also revealed that they are considering releasing a cover version of Bryan Adams' hit song Everything I Do, I Do It For You to raise money for their campaign.

Mr McCann said: "That song, at the minute, best reflects how Kate and I feel emotionally and how determined we are to continue searching for Madeleine.

Police In Malta: Girl Not Madeleine McCann

Police on the island of Malta said a child photographed there was not Madeleine McCann, the British girl kidnapped seven weeks ago in Portugal.

Local police and Interpol searched the island, its ports and airports after several people reported seeing a child resembling 4-year-old Madeline, the Times of London reported. But no evidence of the girl was found.

Welsh tourist Ray Roberts was one of the people who spotted a girl he thought might be the missing child. The girl he saw was wearing a jet black wig and was accompanied by an Arabic-looking man in his 40s who spoke in broken English, he said.

"It was obviously not his first language so it seemed odd that he had to speak to her in English," he told the Times.

"Then I noticed the little girl's hair. It was pitch black, very thick and cut in an unusual style for a child that age -- very much like a wig rather than real hair." Police said a photograph proved the child was not the missing girl.

Madeleine's parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, were scheduled Friday to lead a 50-nation balloon release aimed at making sure people don't forget their daughter.
