let me know if you need any help getting people to realize how cute frogs really are.
Just out of curiosity, how did you get involved with and interested in environmental law? i personally love nature and anything that has to do with tabiat, in fact i am taking plant physiology and cell biology at the same time
did you know plants have the eqivalent of what is hemoglobin in our bodies but its called leguhemoglobin? plants have hormones just like we do, they sexually mature when the hormones are secreted in high amounts, oh the complexity of plants! I love biology!

Help? Hmm... thanks. Maybe we'll make an environmental thread or something...something like that.Originally posted by golgol85 View Postlet me know if you need any help getting people to realize how cute frogs really are.

Regarding how I became involved in environmental law, the story is a bit cosmological. There are so many reasons why I defend the environment and I would honestly have to write a long entry in my journal or even a book to be able to explain how they all link up (which is actually not a bad idea, especially and the journal/diary idea, so thanks for leading me to the idea!).
I'll try to sum it up for you. My reasons are emotional, philosophical, psychological, and strategic, and these elements are getting closer and closer to each other everyday.
They are emotional in the sense that they relate to the unexplainable feeling of when I'm in natural settings, or when natural settings and human-built settings are in harmony.
They are everything else in the sense that I've researched issues around the environment, and my research has shown me that respect for nature is everyone's human nature, and that human nature is the basis for everything.
Strategically, the environment is grounds for common ground between adversaries. It is a topic that can bind different countries, religion and atheism, and much much more...
To be a bit more specific about my experiences, things started off intuitively just like everyone else, in relation to one's emotions and dreams in nature. But how does this lead me to environmental studies instead of a simple treehugger. This is where I pride myself a little, as I believe I offer unique and real hope for the environmental movement. This is through linking the environment to current human problems scientifically. All aspects of the human environment including the natural and harmony aspects can be scientifically shown to affect human problems like disease, war and human rights, in a way that brings strong support for a renewed and authoritative respect for the environment and nature.
I'm actually leading a research group on this area (called Environmental Psychology) right now that has support from one of the heads of the American Psychological Association (the maaroof APA). This is going to lead me to a fused advocacy for environment and humans which has never been done before.
It's a relatively new field...
Anyway, I hope this peaked your interest. Knowing biology like you do is actually an asset if you were ever interested in environmental law. Plus, you can get the master's degree part time, on-line, from a university as prestigious as Yale, without having any previous law experience.
And about plants, that's cool!!!! Thanks for the info. I had heard that we are genetically almost identical to plants and animals. I personally have been seen talking to my food and thanking the plant for "sacrificing" herself to me. I also take good care of my eggplants as they're sweating in the sun.
You mentioned ecology. I've done some scientific, philosophical and psychological research in this area, but I don't have bachelor's level knowledge. You're a good mind reader though as this area is my primary interest. My favorite thing in the world is ecology and I look to incorporate the education. It would be great if we worked together if our interests are similar.

i tend to have that kind of effect on people, leading them to good ideas that is
i hope you dont think i am full of myself, i am just kidding. each one of us has a brain that is very capable and sometimes a couple words trigger something extraordinary or a great thought in our brain. who should take credit? why the owner of the brain of course.
nature truly can not be summed up in one word, but if i had to sum it up, the word i would use is liberating. there has never been a time when i have felt down and gone into somewhere with even just the tiniest bit of nature that i have been able to come home continuing feeling sad. its as if when one goes into nature, one can leave all their pains and worries behind and just relax. quite frankly i have so much stress that i cant get enough of this liberating feeling, but unfortunately with my busy schedule i dont have enough time to take advantage of all nature has to offer.
Sounds like someone has big aspirations and goals, goals that are unique and have never been tried before. treading in unpaved areas is risky, but i think its worth it. once you get there, the risks will definately be worth it.
wow, i didnt know you could get a masters from yale online, that is pretty interesting. as much as i love law and have had a knack for reading and analyzing and pulling things apart, i wouldnt make a good lawyer. I get too attached too easily and as a result i would be upset too often. I would probably get an ulcer, it would be that bad. i have chosen a path in which i too will get the chance to help people. i am planning on going to medschool.
you are too cute, its nice to find someone who appreciates and respects nature. i never thought of plants as having to sacrifice themselves to us, but that is a correct and intersting way to look at things. Plants are definately cool and in no way are they less complicated than animals. gardening is a pastime of mine, although i havent had time to even step in the yard, but whenever i get the chance i do love getting out there, even if its to take a stroll and pull a yellow leaf off a plant.
I dont know much about ecology myself, as i am just a regular biology major not emphasizing ecology, but i have taken a couple courses and i can tell an ecologist or ecology interested person when i see one. i read minds pretty well too, whether it comes to certain things that are going to happen to me and when it comes to others as well. you did answer my question, very thouroughly too i might add. thanks for taking the time

Thanks for all the flowering compliments! You might as well as have showered me with flower petals and sprinkling fragrances! Ditto to you.Originally posted by golgol85 View Posti tend to have that kind of effect on people, leading them to good ideas that is

It was really nice to have met you here. If I was you, in fact, I WOULD be full of myself! And I can trust that you won't take that the wrong way and start giving people (especially the low-croakers) the crooked eye or something. But yeah, I would say BE full of yourself!
Anyway, so I'll probably start a thread on environmental issues and the related in a way that will make it also very relevant to your knowledge and interests, which I hope to learn more about as time goes by, and that will be fun and informative for everyone else on tapesh or visiting.Last edited by zubin; 10-26-2006, 01:50 PM.Take him and cut him out in little stars,

p.s. How do you get those four leaf clovers? I love those. I actually believed that there were those out there when I was little. I inspected the grasses one by one and I still haven't given up!Take him and cut him out in little stars,

yes they are cute creatures, wether u believe that if u kiss one u will make prince charming out of the frog, or if u lick them u will get high, lol, or just cause these slimey quack-sounding animals are a gift to mother nature, yes they are cute and a phenomenon
cheers!

that's a good one about the licking and getting high. I totally forgot about that frog-asset, focusing I guess more on the prince-liking audience. I'm going to make donations after a few days when people have mostly all voted already, though I will check periodically.Take him and cut him out in little stars,

my goodness, you keep mentioning awesome frog features which is making me like them even more than before. I definately have always liked the frog's unique body-style, but the suction, that's genuis. I guess it takes a "Nutcase" to see it!Take him and cut him out in little stars,

Oh yeah, btw you don't become a lawyer with an LLM Degree. It's a one-year master's course on policies in relation to the environment. It's good if you are interested in leadership in this area, whether you want to be a lawyer or not... I'm thinking, since you're gonig to spend every single minute of your life with studying (since you're taking medicine), might as well throw a couple of extra master's courses onto it! It won't make a big difference...Originally posted by golgol85 View Posti tend to have that kind of effect on people, leading them to good ideas that is

You need to buy them or have them bought for you by someone from the plaza menu at the top of the screen. It requires something like 1,100 or so points. 4 leaf clovers really do exist, i found one when i was in elementary school. the reason they are 4 leaf clovers is because of a genetic mutation that makes a deviation from the average and oh so commonly found 3 leaf clover. maybe you should look around on the islands, i am sure in a forrest you are bound to find one. I cant remember what happened to mine, i think i dried it and then somehow it got lost. good luck looking!Originally posted by joubin View Postp.s. How do you get those four leaf clovers? oh no, i know the masters wouldnt make a JD, but i was just mentioning in general that i wouldnt be able to be a lawyer just because of the way i handle things. Lots of studying is right, i am busy taking MCAT classes right now, and my goodness the amount of material that needs to be learned is insane, but its not really new material to someone who has a biological background. Who knows, maybe after medschool and residency, i will expand my horizons and do a masters like the one you mentioned just for fun, since gaining knowledge should be funOriginally posted by joubin View PostOh yeah, btw you don't become a lawyer with an LLM Degree. life is all about learning, although i would like to learn without the stress of tests and papers, hehe
you are too kind, you're going to make a wonderful lawyer yourself!
keep up the great work and never stop learning!

you are too funny, i was joking about being full of myself, although i think everyone is full of themselves to some degree, especially if they are persianOriginally posted by joubin View PostThanks for all the flowering compliments! being full of oneself just means you know your worth, you know that you are special, and you appreciate that uniqueness that is you. so in that case, yes i am full of myself. i dont compliment unless i think its befitting, and in your case it definately is befitting
i love all kinds of croakers, and i am not the type to push down a different croak than my own, in fact i love diversity.
i'll be sure to keep a look out for the thread and i read the other one, you dont need to give me any points, i just find the topic of plants and the environment, in addition to your enthusiasm to be quite stimulating.
