      Omid Djalili

Djalili is Britain's only Iranian standup comedian and actor. His international appeal extends to having performed in over 12 countries. In 1994, he won the Spirit of the Fringe Award at the Edinburgh Festival. He then became a Fringe favorite with a string of sell-out shows, Short Fat Kebab Shop Owner's Son, The Arab and the Jew and a string of other solo stand-up shows winning another Spirit of the Fringe Award in 1999. He was then nominated for the Perrier Award in 2002.
Raised as the son of an Iranian reporter and a dress maker, his comedic interests sparked at a young age. Later he attended The University of Ulster, Coleraine in Northern Ireland and earned a degree in English and theater studies.

Djalili has also appeared on the big screen in The Mummy, Gladiator, Spygame, Anita and Me, Mean Machine and the James Bond movie The World Is Not Enough. More recently, he has filmed on Deadline Beirut, Calcium Kid (with Orlando Bloom) and will appear in the role of Kaji in World of Tomorrow with Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow. His latest film is Modigliani where he will play Picasso opposite Andy Garcia in the title role.

When not performing, Djalili enjoys soccer, tennis and backgammon. He also devotes time to charities including the Refugee Council in the United Kingdom. He resides in London with his wife, actress and writer Annabel King, and their three children.

Omid Djalili is Britain's funniest Iranian stand-up comedian and actor. Well, alright, he's Britain's only Iranian stand-up comedian and actor. But he is funny. He has a full-on, barnstorming approach which is an all-encompassing and theatrical experience.

Enthusiastically engaging, even on potentially politically rocky ground, he is never cynical. You name the prejudice, he can tiptoe around issues of taste, decency and outright outrage, parodying the West, the East and anything in between. Who could resist ' 'a laugh, a song, a fundamentalist diatribe against Western imperialism", with the added possible draw of belly- or disco dancing.

Djalili is one of the funniest, freshest and most original comedians in Britain, but he also has wide international appeal, having performed in recent years in Australia, Austria, America, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Slovakia.

Media credits include Have I Got News for You (BBC2), Room 101 (BBC2) and Jack Dee, Live at the Apollo (BBC1). In the US, he played opposite Whoopi Goldberg in the comedy Whoopi! (NBC). He's also a well-known face on the big screen, appearing in blockbuster films such as The World Is Not Enough , The Mummy , and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. He's even managed to break away from his Hollywood-dictated acting roles of Middle-Eastern spiv/heavy #2, appearing as Picasso in Modigliani .

Truly a man of many talents. And he brings them all to the stage with every live gig.

"Hilarious and painfully funny, Omid Djalili is unmissable'
      ( Independent )

'His explosive and wide-eyed humour comes bursting out of nowhere, sending the audience into fits'
      ( Scotsman )

'Djalili blows you away with a blizzard of gags'
      ( Observer )

                  The Island (2005)

Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) is a resident of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid-21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to the "The Island," reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet. But Lincoln soon discovers that everything about his existence is a lie. He and all of the other inhabitants of the facility are actually human clones whose only purpose is to provide "spare parts" for their original human counterparts. Realizing it is only a matter of time before he is "harvested," Lincoln makes a daring escape with a fellow resident named Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson). Pursued by the forces of the institute that once housed them, Lincoln and Jordan engage in a race for their lives to literally meet their makers.

When you're the son of the world's most legendary superheroes The Commander (Kurt Russell) and Jetstream (Kelly Preston), there is only one school for you - Sky High, an elite high school that is entrusted with the responsibility of molding today's power-gifted students into tomorrow's superheroes. The problem is that Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano) is starting with no superpowers of his own and, worst of all, instead of joining the ranks of the "Hero" class, he finds himself relegated to being a "Sidekick." Now he must somehow survive his freshman year while dealing with an overbearing gym coach (Bruce Campbell), a bully with super speed and a dangerous rebel with a grudge (and the ability to shoot fire from his hands)... not to mention the usual angst, parental expectations and girl problems that accompany teenage life. But when an evil villain threatens his family, friends and the very sanctity of Sky High, Will must use his newfound superpowers to save the day and prove himself a "Hero" worthy of the family tradition.

More interested in boozing and broads than baseball, Buttermaker is lured back into the game by Liz Whitewood, an attorney whose class action suit has forced the Little League to accept all players, regardless of their abilities. As the new coach of the Bears, the most losing team in Little League history, Buttermaker has his work cut out for him. Initially, he's only in it for the paycheck, but he and his inept players have a transformative effect on one another that is wholly unexpected, and completely remarkable.
