    • Tom & Katie: Their Busy Post-Honeymoon Lives

Since they returned from their honeymoon in the Maldives, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have been busier than ever, PEOPLE reports in its new issue.

The pair spent two weeks after their Nov. 18 nuptials chilling out on a yacht owned by Australian media heir James Packer and at the exclusive Kurumba Resort on a private island. And despite a tropical storm, they were all smiles when they headed home on Dec. 1.

Now back in L.A., this weekend they'll throw a post-wedding party at the home of Cruise's longtime producing partner, Paula Wagner, for friends who couldn't make it to their lavish Italian wedding.

And Cruise is already getting to work on his latest project: helping run the United Artists movie studio, which he and Wagner are relaunching with MGM.

Meanwhile, Holmes and 7-month-old daughter Suri are getting back into the Hollywood social swing. On Dec. 4 they both popped by the Sunset Marquis Hotel & Villas for a visit with Holmes's new BFF, Victoria Beckham, in town for a magazine photo shoot. "They talked about how great the wedding was," says a Beckham friend.

They're not the only ones reminiscing about those dazzling nuptials. "There was just a lot of heart and soul," Cruise's Jerry Maguire director, Cameron Crowe, tells PEOPLE. "They're the real deal, and I'm so happy for them."

      • Connie Nielsen, Lars Ulrich Expecting

Gladiator actress Connie Nielsen and Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich are expecting their first child together, PEOPLE has confirmed.

"They are ecstatic," Nielsen's rep, Joy Limanon, tells PEOPLE. The baby is due in the early summer.

This year, the Danish-born, New York-based Nielsen, 42, appeared as Detective Dani Beck on NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She costarred with Russell Crowe in 2000's Gladiator and will next be seen playing a journalist in Iraq in the February drama The Situation.

She and Ulrich, also 42 and a Denmark native, have been dating for about two years.

Nielsen has a 16-year-old son, Sebastian, from a previous marriage; Ulrich is the father of sons Myles, 8, and Layne, 5, also from a previous marriage.

Last year, Nielsen told PEOPLE that dating Ulrich hadn't upped her rock credibility with her son. "He's not impressed whatsoever," she said. "It'd be better if (Lars) was a guy struggling to sell CDs out of a suitcase at Grand Central Station. But Metallica? Not impressed."

        • Missing Man James Kim Found Dead

James Kim, who had been missing in the Oregon wilderness, was found dead Wednesday.

"At 12:03 p.m. the body of James Kim was located down in the canyon of Big Windy Creek," said Josephine County undersheriff Brian Anderson, who had to stop speaking because he was moved to tears during a press conference in Merlin, Ore.

Kim, 35, along with his wife Kati, 30, and daughters Penelope, 4, and Sabine, 7 months, were stranded on Nov. 25 after their car got stuck in the snow during a trip from Seattle to their home in San Francisco.

"Arrangements are being made to have him removed from the area," said Lt. Gregg Hastings, who added, "We want the Kim family to know that we appreciate all of their support. They have been true champions throughout this whole ordeal, and we just want them to know that our thoughts and our prayers have been with them from day one."

For the first three days they were stuck they used the car's heater at night to keep warm. When the gas ran out, they used the battery alone. After the battery died, they burned tires to generate heat.

For food, they had only scant provisions in their 2005 Saab station wagon: just some baby food and Cheez Whiz.

Katie and her two daughters were rescued on Monday when she was spotted by a helicopter waving an open umbrella on which she had affixed reflective tape spelling out SOS.

Two days before they were saved, Kim, dressed in a jacket, two pairs of pants, sweater and sneakers, set off to seek help for his loved ones.

Rescuers searching for Kim found items such as bits of an Oregon map and some clothing that he had apparently dropped along the way as he searched for help.

"I admire his effort. He had fortitude," Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters said Wednesday. "He had a strong will to survive and I can tell by his effort that he put a lot of thought into what he was doing."

Winters said that despite having little wilderness experience, Kim made smart decisions about trying to find help. "He thought on his feet and he was meticulous," said Winters, who also said that at one point in their search rescuers came within about a quarter of a mile of where Kim's body was eventually found.

Kim was a senior editor at the Web site CNET, where he reviewed the newest electronic gadgets.

Kati's father, Dr. Philip Fleming, said on the Today show earlier this week: "He's a very heroic father."

          • Lou Diamond Phillips Pleads No Contest to Domestic Battery

Actor Lou Diamond Phillips pleaded no contest Thursday to charges of domestic battery involving an August incident with his live-in girlfriend, the Los Angeles City Attorney's office tells PEOPLE.

Phillips, 44, was sentenced to 32 months of probation, one year of domestic violence counseling and 200 hours of community service. TMZ.com was first to report the no contest plea.

"Mr. Phillips has no comment at this time," a spokesperson for the actor tells PEOPLE. "This is a private matter. He will abide by the court's decision."

Phillips was charged with domestic battery, a misdemeanor, in September. The charges stemmed from his Aug. 11 arrest after a physical fight with his girlfriend.

During the altercation, the woman "was pushed and dragged across the house, resulting in scrapes to both knees," Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo said in a statement at the time.

The woman, who PEOPLE reported in August was makeup artist Yvonne Boismier, called the police from a locked bathroom in the couple's Northridge, Calif., home, Delgadillo said. Phillips was arrested, held for about 10 hours and released.

            • Dolly Parton to Jessica Simpson: No Hard Feelings

Dolly Parton has no hard feelings toward Jessica Simpson, who flubbed the lines to the country singer's song "9 to 5" during the Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday.

"Jessica is so talented that I'm sure that someday they will be paying tribute to her and I would be honored to perform for her," Parton said in a statement Thursday. "But I'll probably be so nervous that I'll forget my wig!"

On Sunday, Simpson was paying tribute to Parton by singing her famous song before a packed audience, which included President Bush and the First Lady, when she botched the lines and then fled the stage in tears.

"Dolly you make me so nervous. I can't even sing the words right," Simpson said at the time.

Later, Simpson's rep, Cindi Berger, said the singer was "overcome with emotion" during her performance. "She wanted the song to be perfect and she was upset with herself when it wasn't," Berger told USA Today.

Simpson re-taped her rendition of "9 to 5" for the televised version of the Kennedy Center Honors.

Also being celebrated at the event were Steven Spielberg, Smokey Robinson, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Zubin Mehta

                    • Diana Krall, Elvis Costello Welcome Twins

Singers Diana Krall and Elvis Costello welcomed twins on Dec. 6, PEOPLE has learned.

Boys Dexter Henry Lorcan and Frank Harlan James were born in New York City, according to a rep for the couple, who adds, "Mother and sons are doing splendidly."

Krall and Costello said in a statement, "We are ecstatic!"

The babies are something of a third-anniversary gift for Krall, 42, and Costello, 52, who wed in London on Dec. 5, 2003.

In September, Krall told PEOPLE she's genetically disposed to a double delivery: "I have twins on my mother's side as well."

And she knew even then that she wouldn't dress her kids up in matching outfits: "Nah," she said with a laugh, "I won't be doing that."

                            • Nicole Richie Arrested for DUI

Nicole Richie was arrested on charges of driving under the influence early Monday morning, PEOPLE has confirmed.

She was booked in Glendale and "was cooperative," said agent John Balian of the local police force, adding that her booking sheet showed she is 5'1" and 85 lbs. Her bail was posted at $15,000 and she was released at 7 a.m.

CHP officers responded at 12:31 a.m. after two 911 callers reported seeing a 2005 black Mercedes SUV going the wrong way on the 134 Highway, said Altadena California Highway Patrol officer Todd Workman.

"However, when the officers came into contact with the SUV in the carpool lane, it was at a complete stop facing the right direction, in the city of Burbank," Workman said. "When officers approached, the vehicle was taken off the highway and Richie was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs."

Richie's hearing in Glendale Municipal Court is scheduled for Tuesday.

The arrest of the Simple Life star, 25, was first reported by TMZ.com.

A rep for Richie had no comment on the incident.

This isn't Richie's first brush with the law: In February 2003, she was arrested in Malibu and charged with possession of heroin, it was reported by the Smoking Gun Web site. She was also driving with a suspended license.

She has since been a patient in a drug-rehabilitation hospital and recently was treated for a weight disorder.
