            Machi-yakko
Yakuza want however not see kabuki-mono as their "ancestors" instead they see machi-yakko(City servant), as their origin. These men was they that took to weapon and defended the villages and the cities against the rageing Kabuki-mono.
They had professions like storekeepers, tavernowners, homeless worrier and also ronin
Machi-yakko were skillful hazardgamblers which did that they got an ever so highly bounding to each other and their leader, much like toady's yakuza.

Machi-yakko became soon the people's heroes, praised by the citizens for their help against kabuki-mono. Machi-yakko was often weaker and worse trained and equipped than kabuki- mono and therfore compared with England's Robin Hood that fought against Prince John and his underling sherif of Nothingham.
Kabuki-mono had a bad habit to hurass and terroize all in their arounding. They could go as far that they stab down people for pleasure. Kabuki-mono was distinctive samurais that's gave their bands scary name and spoke in vigorous slang. It was written many fairy-tales and plays about machi- yakko.
The current yakuza came not until at middle of the 17th century. Its members was bakuto (gamblers) and tekiya (street vendors). These namings on the members are still used in these days.It have however added several categories of yakuza that will be described along with bakuto and tekiya more ingoing later on.
Allmost all yakuza members have the same type of background: poor, criminals and misfits. Yakuza became as a family for them. They got help with problems, got attention and could feel a certain saftey.

Defense attorneys: Mexican Mafia doesn't exist.

Jurors began deliberations May 16 after a six-month trial before U.S. District Judge Ronald Lew. The trial marked the first time a gang was prosecuted in Los Angeles under RICO.

Prosecutors characterized the Mafia as a brutal crime syndicate run from maximum-security prison cells at Pelican Bay State Prison.

The government maintained the gang, with as many as 400 members, controls narcotics trafficking and money laundering among Hispanic street gangs in Southern California, along with much of the related violence.

Defense attorneys denied the existence of a Mexican Mafia, and claimed their clients were framed. None of the 13 defendants testified in the trial.

                      The mafia in Israel

Las Vegas has new crime element: Israeli mob.

WITH ITS FREE flow of cash and high-stakes gambling, Las Vegas has always been an attractive target of opportunity for organized crime.

For years the traditional La Cosa Nostra dominated street rackets here and even managed to gain hidden interests in casinos on the Strip. We were considered an "open city" for more than two dozen of the nation's Mafia families.

Today Las Vegas still is considered fertile ground for organized crime, but as the mob's influence has waned because of stepped-up pressure from law enforcement authorities, other criminal groups have risen to prominence on the streets.

In recent months authorities have discovered that Israeli organized crime syndicates have set their sights on Las Vegas. One ranking crime figure was overheard a year ago by lawmen on court-approved wiretaps describing Las Vegas as "wide open" territory.

"They're really trying to rear their ugly head in Las Vegas," says Sheriff Bill Young, who has detectives assigned to a joint federal drug task force investigating the Israeli crime connection here.

The Israeli syndicates are involved in traditional rackets, such as loan sharking, extortion, money laundering, prostitution and illegal gambling.

And they're just as violent as the Mafia. Two of the biggest families, one based in Jerusalem and the other in Tel Aviv, currently are involved in a bloody war over control of street rackets in Israel.

But unlike the Mafia, the Israeli crime groups are far more sophisticated and have far-reaching international tentacles. Key members of the groups have homes in multiple countries and make most of their money importing cocaine and the club drug Ecstasy (MDMA) from Europe into the United States. Las Vegas has been the site of some Ecstasy deals, drug task force affidavits revealed.

                            Mob Facts

The murder of Philadelphia boss Angelo Bruno on March 20, 1980, set off one of the bloodiest wars in American mob history. In four years, over 30 members of the Philadelphia mafia were knocked off.
                            ---
Since the conviction of "Dapper Don" John Gotti, the Genovese family has been considered New York's-and the U.S.'s-most powerful La Cosa Nostra family.

Dawood Ibrahim (also known as Dawood Ebrahim and Sheikh Dawood Hassan) is a powerful and notorious Indian(Sunni Muslim) Mafia kingpin. He started his career in Bombay by working for the Karim Lala gang and soon shifted residence to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates where he could mingle more freely in society. Dawood developed immense clout in the Gulf region and in India where the bulk of his illegal operations flourished. Dawood is said to have top politicians, police chiefs, businessmen and bankers in his pocket. After the Bombay Bomb Blasts, he achieved a new level of notoriety and moved to Pakistan from the UAE in order to maintain a low profile and keep away from the Indian and American intelligence units.

DawoodDawood owns several businesses and prime properties in India, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. His brother, Anees Ibrahim, is one of his key lieutenants along with Chhota Shakeel. Dawood was born to a constable and was quite poor but struck it rich after embarking on a life of crime.

According to the United States Department of Treasury, his syndicate is involved in large-scale shipments of narcotics in the U.K. and Western Europe. Its smuggling routes from South Asia, the Middle East and Africa are shared with Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network. Successful routes established over recent years by his syndicate have been subsequently utilized by Bin Laden.

In the late 1990s, he traveled in Afghanistan under the protection of the Taliban. His syndicate has consistently aimed to destabilize the Indian government through inciting riots, acts of terrorism, and civil disobedience. He is currently wanted by India for the March 12, 1993 Bombay Bomb Blasts, which killed hundreds of Indians and injured over a thousand more. Information, from as recent as Fall 2002, indicates that he has financially supported Islamic militant groups working against India, such as Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT).

In 2003, the US government declared Dawood Ibrahim a Global Terrorist and froze all his assets in a bid to crack down on him and his notorious mafia operations.

                                omerta

One of the most important rules of being part of La Cosa Nostra is omerta; the code of silence each honorable made man takes when he enters a Family. It essentially means that a made man is never to discuss any Family business or activities with any outsider (not including associates). You become a rat by breaking the code, and you'll pay with your life (it's not only the Mounties who always get their man).

It's omerta that keeps La Cosa Nostra protected and shielded from outside forces, whether it be other mob-wannabes or law enforcement. It's also part of the honor code, which also includes vows to respect the organization's rules, hierarchy, rules of conduct, and punishments for breaking any code. Above all, the honor code implies that no man is above his Family, and that no man should put anything or anybody ahead of his Family (not the other family).

In return, the Family protects and supports you (and in case of death, supports your family). You trust and rely on your Family in bad times, just like in good. That support is always there if you are loyal, productive or an influential member of the Family.

Loyalty, obedience, honor... you see a pattern emerging here? The public is fooled into thinking we are a bunch of thugs thanks to the media, but we are men above all -- honorable, educated, business-savvy men. Don't you forget that.
