wow mr red wine, you really have changed your tone when i first read your other views i was really impressed and actually quite proud of, how ever you are very mozi, i dont understand you one min your defending iran next your critiscing the new president, the way he dresses or speaks should be the very last thing on your mind, instead you should highlight his intentions for iran and how he will bring changes to iran. Now i know your gona say that its not right that he was choosen and so on, however should you take into account that it was the nation of iran who decided mr ahmadinejad in becoimg the new president, the youth of iran choose him. President's words scare our community: Iran's Jews

Iran's Jews have sharply criticized President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for
denying the Holocaust, saying his remarks have sparked fears in their ancient but dwindling community.

Ahmadinejad has dismissed the 1933-1945 genocide of six million Jews by the Nazis and their allies as a myth, saying the crime was exaggerated to bolster Israeli interests.

Haroun Yashayaei, the head of Iran's Jewish community, sent a letter of complaint to Ahmadinejad two weeks ago.

"How is it possible to ignore all of the undeniable evidence existing for the exile and massacre of the Jews in Europe during World War Two?" said a copy of Yashayaei's letter faxed to Reuters on Sunday.

"Challenging one of the most obvious and saddening events of 20th-century humanity has created astonishment among the people of the world and spread fear and anxiety among the small Jewish community of Iran," the letter added.

A Jewish community leader said he preferred not to comment on whether Ahmadinejad had sent a reply to the letter, penned on behalf on the entire Jewish community.

Jews occupy an awkward position in Israel's arch-foe Iran, often speaking out against Israeli treatment of Palestinians.

Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, spiritual father of Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution, urged Iranians to distinguish clearly between their own ancient community and Zionists.

However, Iran's Jewish community has slumped to some 25,000 members from about 85,000 at the time of the revolution. Iran's population is about 69 million.

Iran's Jews are often the subject of intense suspicion and 10 from the southern city of Shiraz were convicted of spying in 2000. The closed door trial sparked international outrage.

The last five detained were released in April 2003.

Last April, Iran's Jewish parliamentarian had to complain to parliament that popular television serials were anti-Semitic. The parliament speaker supported his complaint.

Iran's Jews are sometimes called "Esther's Children." The Jewess Esther, a queen of Persia who gave her name to a book of the Bible, is buried in the Western Iranian city of Hamadan.

فرد هاليدی، استاد روابط بين الملل در دانشکده اقتصاد دانشگاه لندن طی مقاله ای که در سايت اوپن دموکراسی (Open Democracy) به چاپ رسيده، نوشته است که لحن مبارزه طلبانه رئيس جمهور آمريکا عليه ايران بر قدرت محافظه کاران حاکم بر اين کشور می افزايد
وی که از متخصصان مشهور در زمينه ايران و خاورميانه است، اعتقاد دارد که ايران و آمريکا در آستانه بحرانی عظيم قرار دارند و بخش عمده ای از مقاله خود را به ريشه های اين بحران و نحوه شکلگيری آن اختصاص داده که به عقيده وی به کودتای 28 مرداد 1332 و سقوط دولت محمد مصدق در ايران باز می گردد

به نوشته او، اشغال سفارت آمريکا در تهران و گروگان گرفتن دييلماتهای آن به مدت 444 روز، حمايت ايران از گروههای مسلح شيعه لبنانی که باعث خروج ارتش آمريکا از لبنان در سالهای 1983 و 1984 شد، مداخله آمريکا در جنگ ايران و عراق در سال پايانی جنگ که فرد هاليدی آن را طرفداری آمريکا از عراق در جنگ ارزيابی کرده، ظهور و قدرت گرفتن حزب الله در لبنان که به خروج اسرائيل از جنوب اين کشور در سال 2000 انجاميد و سرانجام، وضعيت کنونی آمريکا در عراق عناصری اند که در شکلگيری بحران ميان ايران و آمريکا و وخامت يافتن آن مؤثر بوده اند

فرد هاليدی معتقد است که آمريکا شرايط را در عراق به شيوه ای پيش می برد که ناخواسته راه را برای افتادن اين کشور در دست ايران هموار می کند

غرب آسيا و گستره ای از افغانستان تا لبنان، به عقيده فرد هاليدی، در آينده صحنه جنگ قدرت ميان ايران و آمريکا خواهد بود.

به نوشته فرد هاليدی، ايران به دنبال اين است که در سراسر خاورميانه و آسيای ميانه و همچنين در قبال بحران فلسطينيان و اسرائيل قدرت بلامنازع باشد و می خواهد که از لحاظ هسته ای نيز دست کم همان موقعيتی را داشته باشد که اسرائيل پيش از سال 1994 و آفريقای جنوبی در زمان حکومت سفيدپوستان داشت، يعنی اينکه حتی اگر دارای سلاح هسته ای نباشد، توان توليد آن را در هنگام ضرورت داشته باشد.

بر همين اساس، آقای هاليدی استدلال می کند که نگرانی غرب از برنامه هسته ای ايران ارتباط مستقيم با بحران عراق دارد و هرچه بر نفوذ ايران در عراق افزوده می شود، فشار آمريکا و متحدان غربی اش برای محدود ساختن فعاليت اتمی ايران نيز افزايش می يابد.

به قدرت رسيدن حماس در سرزمينهای فلسطينی و مشکلاتی که آمريکا و نيروهای ناتو در افغانستان با آن درگيرند نيز از نظر فرد هاليدی بر افزايش فشار اتمی بر ايران مؤثر است.

در زمينه به قدرت رسيدن محمود احمدی نژاد و ياران تندروی او در ايران، فرد هاليدی معتقد است که انقلابها پس از يکی دو دهه که از عمرشان گذشت وارد مرحله تازه ای از طغيان می شوند که در آن، عناصر انقلابی به مواضع اوليه خود باز می گردند که از جمله اين مواضع، رويارويی با دنيای خارج است

فرد هاليدی فضايی طغيانزده را در غرب آسيا به تصوير می کشد و از آمريکا انتقاد می کند که با سياستهايی که اتخاذ می کند و با خودداری از اينکه مستقيماً با ايران وارد گفتگو شود، قدمی در راه فروخواباندن چنين طغيانی بر نمی دارد

به نظر او، حکومت جمهوری اسلامی هيچگاه به اندازه شرايط کنونی از ثبات و استحکام برخوردار نبوده است

بهای شصت دلاری هر بشکه نفت و حمايتی عمومی که فرد هاليدی برای محمود احمدی نژاد در ايران قائل است، اين حکومت را از نظر او چه در مقابل مخالفان خارجی همچون سلطنت طلبان و مجاهدين خلق (که وی آنها را اسلامگرايان استالينيست خطاب می کند) و منتقدان داخلی همچون ليبرالها و فعالان حقوق بشر و اصلاح طلبان ضربه ناپذير می کند

او در پايان مقاله اش نتيجه می گيرد که جورج بوش نيز با سخنان مبارزه جويانه ای که عليه حکومت محمود احمدی نژاد ايراد می کند به صف متحدان آقای احمدی نژاد پيوسته است و همه اينها خبر از ماجراهای بيشتری در آينده می دهد
