فابيو كاپلو در اين زمينه تصريح كرد: از عملكرد بازيكنانم خيلي خوشحالم. مقابل مايوركا با روحيه خوبي بازي كردند.

وي افزود: پيروزي در خانه حريف كار ساده اي نبود؛ اما بازيكنان با اعتماد به نفس مطلوب توانستند اين تيم را شكست دهند.

سرمربي رئال مادريد تاكيد كرد: بايد به اين بازيكنان افتخار كرد چراكه در شرايط بحراني توانستند باتجربه بازي كرده و در خارج از خانه، براي رئال پيروزي كسب كنند.

وي ادامه داد: خودمان را براي روزهاي دشوار آماده كرده*ايم و براي رسيدن به قهرماني، تا هفته*ي پاياني تلاش خواهيم كرد.

كاپلو تاكيد كرد: رئال در فصل جاري تيم بسيار خوبي است و يكي از بخت*هاي اصلي براي تصاحب قهرماني است.

رئال مادريد تا پايان هفته نوزدهم با 38 امتياز در رتبه سوم قرار دارد و رقابت نزديكي با بارسلونا و سويا براي تصاحب عنوان قهرماني دارد.

Former England captain David Beckham must complete the remaining six months of his contract at Real Madrid, club sporting director Predrag Mijatovic said on Monday.

Media reports have suggested Beckham might seek an early release to join his new club Los Angeles Galaxy after coach Fabio Capello said he would not play for Real again.

"Beckham still has six months of his contract left and he has to complete them. Beyond that it is up to the coach (whether he plays or not)," Mijatovic told Real Madrid television.

Mijatovic also said Brazilian striker Ronaldo would not be allowed to leave Real on a free transfer.

"We have some offers for him and we'll see what happens before the end of this January transfer window," he said.

"But let me make one thing clear. There has been a lot of talk recently that we would release him from his contract for nothing. We cannot allow him to go for free."

Ronaldo, 30, has a contract until 2008 but has started only three league games this season.

Although Capello has hinted at a softening of his stance toward Beckham, Mijatovic made it clear the move to play the younger players in recent games meant that it was unlikely that the midfielder would get a look in.

The club have preferred Fernando Gago, Gonzalo Higuain, Miguel Torres and Jose Antonio Reyes to more recognized names over the last two weeks.

"We have a lot of players who promise much and have a great future. I think these youngsters have the edge over ones who have been here a few years because they are the future of the club," Mijatovic added.

Beckham has only started five league games under Capello this season.

He has agreed a five-year contract with Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy which will earn him around $250 million.

Serie A strugglers AC Milan has agreed with Spanish League spendthrifts Real Madrid to acquire striker Ronaldo, according to reports.

Ernesto Bronzetti, Milan's representative in Spain, reportedly has confirmed that the team would pay a transfer fee of $7.8 million to acquire the Brazilian star, pending a physical.

Ronaldo has struggled to hold a starting slot with Real Madrid this season, suffering from injury, poor form and criticism about his weight.

AC Milan chief Adriano Galliani confirmed that the team has made an offer for Ronaldo, the dominant player in the 2002 World Cup and still one of international soccer's biggest stars.

"We are sending an offer for Ronaldo. We are shopping so we'll see," he said on the club's website. "Everything of course will be down to a medical so we have plenty to do yet."

Galliani added that there is a chance Ronaldo could be unveiled at the San Siro on Thursday night. AC Milan could use some help as it is 8-4-8 and tied for ninth in Serie A with 24 points, a staggering 30 behind unbeaten leaders and crosstown rivals Inter Milan.

The sale of Ronaldo would mark the second huge separation this month of a superstar from Real Madrid, which is tied for second in the Spanish League, one point behind Barcelona.

Two weeks ago, English icon David Beckham jumped to the Los Angeles Galaxy of MLS in a landmark $252 million deal.

Real Madrid slumped to their third defeat in five games when they went down 1-0 at Villarreal in the Primera Liga on Saturday.

Villarreal, who had won once in their previous six outings, notched up their first ever victory against Real when 19-year-old midfielder Marcos clipped the ball home after a slick passing move midway through the second half.

Real, missing AC Milan-bound Ronaldo, David Beckham, the injured Raul and the out-of-favour Antonio Cassano, barely managed to threaten the Villarreal goal in a toothless performance at the Madrigal.

"We didn't take one shot in the second half and had almost no presence on the pitch. It was a very poor half ," Real's sporting director Predrag Mijatovic told television station La Sexta.

The result meant Fabio Capello's side remain in third place in the table, a point behind leaders Barcelona who host Celta Vigo on Sunday.

Atletico Madrid's hopes of keeping the pressure on the leading pack were frustrated when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Racing Santander at the Calderon earlier on Saturday.

Atletico fell behind when Racing's little-and-large partnership of Pedro Munitis and Nikola Zigic manufactured a classy goal 17 minutes from time.

The diminutive Munitis hooked a clever pass over his shoulder on the edge of the area and the towering Serb striker burst between two defenders before firing home from 10 metres.

Atletico hit back almost immediately, centre-back Pablo Ibanez marking his 100th appearance for the club with his first goal of the season when he skimmed a header into the net after a midfielder Jurado had whipped a free kick into the area.

The draw left Atletico in fifth spot in the table, level on 36 points with Valencia who play Real Betis on Sunday and three adrift of Barca. Racing move up to 11th.

Despite the absence of out-of-favour playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme, who was looking on from the stands, Villarreal dominated against Real as they clipped the ball around the midfield and hit the visitors on the break.

They would have taken the lead on the half hour had it not been for some superb goalkeeping from Iker Casillas, who got a hand to a Diego Forlan shot, blocked a follow-up effort and closed down Matias Fernandez as he tried to blast the ball into the net.

But they finally broke the deadlock midway through the second half, when Marcos fired home with a first-time shot after Fernandez had slipped the ball past the Real back four.

Cannavaro says it's normal to have problems because of injuries

Fabio Cannavaro talked to the press after the match against Villarreal. The Ballon d'Or winner said Real Madrid had been better during the first half and that the game became "sloppy" in the last 45 minutes. "We have many injured players, so it is normal for us to have problems right now," said the centre back, "We must stay calm and keep working as we have been doing lately. The season is very long."

"We lost because we didn't play too well. We fought hard, but we didn't manage to win the three points. We are looking to be more regular. I don't like following two good games with one like this."

Fernando Gago has become a mainstay in Fabio Capello's lineups, but he isn't sure if he'll recover from his strained hamstring in time for Sunday's match. What he does have clear is that he's got a lot left before being the player he wants to be.





How's your injury? Will you be ready by Sunday?
That's the idea, but there's no rush. I'm working daily to get better.
Now that you've been here a while, what do you think about Spanish football?
It's a little faster because the fields are usually wet, but the match experience is the same. We have to win, always.

Are you already in top form, or are you still adapting?
I've got a long way to go, but I'm catching on little by little.

Were you injured by playing too much?
It's only a strain. I'm not worried.

Your thoughts on Ronaldo leaving?
We didn't have a lot of time together. He's a great player, but those are decisions made by the Club and the individual.



Why is the team having trouble scoring?
We are working hard in order to create chances. We will always try to do our best. Our opponents make it hard. There are matches that we create a lot of chances but don't score any, and vice versa.

Did you anticipate a Club with problems like the ones it's currently having?
I knew it would be a competitive Club. Anything that happens is talked about. It's one of the best Clubs in the world. None of what's going on affects me.

Cruyff has said that what goes on at a Club level is reflected on the pitch.
I don't think it has any effect. This is a tough time right now, but on the pitch it's the players who have to do the best job possible.

How do you feel about the press labeling you as the team saviour?
Those who know me know what I can contribute. I have to prove why I came here from one Sunday to the next.



Barcelona aren't playing at the top of their game either.
All that matters to me is that Madrid play well and win on Sunday.

Do you think Beckham will return to the lineup?
That's the coach's call. He decides who of the group will play.

Would you suggest to Saviola that he join Real Madrid?
I would love it if he could come here because he is an extraordinary player and Argentine. It may or may not happen.

After this morning's training session, first team boss Fabio Capello held his customary press conference for all the media present at the press room of Valdebebas. Capello reviewed the events of last week at the Club and rated tomorrow's a "crucial" match-up. He also had a few words for yesterday's disgraceful incident in the Italian Calcio.





What do you think of Ronaldo's statements?
I have never answered back to any of the statements of my players. That's my style and I stick by it. I wish Ronaldo all the success and the best of luck. He can do great things and I hope he gets back to the old Ronaldo, for the good of world football. We have chosen a team made up of young people and we're going to bet large on it. Nothing happened with Ronaldo. He trained just like all the rest and I did my job, which includes deciding who plays.
Has he ever been in good form?
He's never been 100%.

Why did he stay over the summer?
It is my responsibility as well as the coaching staff's. We were convinced we could get him back on track, but we never got close. I wish him all the luck in the world, but now he's a former Real Madrid and a new Milan player.



Why did you have lunch with Galliani?
I worked with Milan for 20 years. That's a lot of time and I have a good relationship with this gentleman. He invited me to lunch. Real Madrid and Milan reached an agreement for the transfer of Ronaldo. They are two independent things. You have to take care of the friendship you have shared with someone for 20-odd years.

What was Ronaldo missing to be in top form?
Now he's a player of Milan. That is part of the past. He's a good player. We didn't force him to leave. He chose Milan.

What do you think of what happened in Italy yesterday?
I have seen the images and I think it's shocking, an embarassement. I don't think you can see anything worse than what I saw yesterday on TV. As an Italian, I am ashamed. Something is going on with football in my country. This is a sport and in my country it has nothing to do with a sport. Tough measures and decisions need to be taken. After all the other problems, now we have the hooligans.

Did you give Ronaldo any resons to leave?
I like people who say things to your face. I never answer my players back. People should always speak to your face. Whatever they say after that has little value for me.

What happened with Guti?
The players were kidding amongst them. They wanted to leave because the training was over. Everything that happens at Real Madrid is blown out of proportion.

Do you think Ronaldo will ever get back to who he was?
I hope so. Great players are loved by fans the world around. I am the first one to wish him the best. Maybe it's possible elsewhere, in another environment.

Are you bothered by the rumours about Mourinho?
Not really. I'm the coach of Real Madrid and it's the President who decides ultimately.

Will Guti and Diarra play together?
They have in the past and did well by the team. Tomorrow's game is crucial for us.

What do you think of Levante?
I saw their last two games. Their style is completely different. They press intensely, they have a good defence, they run a lot… López Caro had a style and now it has changed with Abel. Their last game at home was good.

David Beckham scored in his return to Real Madrid Saturday in its Spanish league game at Real Sociedad.

Beckham, making his first start since Dec. 20, tied the match in the 37th minute with a low, bending free kick from outside the area which skidded off the wet surface and beat diving Sociedad goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

The halftime score at Anoeta stadium was 1-1.

Beckham's comeback represented a reversal by Madrid coach Fabio Capello, who said last month that the former England captain would never again play for the Spanish powerhouse team.

Beckham annoyed Capello by announcing on Jan. 11 that he would leave for the Los Angeles Galaxy when his contract expires in June. Madrid had offered the midfielder a two-year extension.

On Friday, Capello said he had initially believed Beckham wouldn't train or play with the same intensity but the player had worked very well in training this week.

Since Beckham was dropped, Madrid has lost two of four league games and has been eliminated from the Copa del Rey, piling pressure on Capello.

The Italian coach reportedly could be fired if Madrid lost against Sociedad.

Madrid is in fourth place in the league with 38 points, five behind leader FC Barcelona. Madrid also plays Bayern Munich in the second round of the Champions League on Feb. 20 and March 7.
