A David Trezeguet hat-trick and two goals from Vincenzo Iaquinta gave Juventus a 5-1 home win over Livorno on their return to Serie A on Saturday.

France striker Trezeguet put Juve ahead after half an hour when he headed in Alessandro Del Piero's cross from close range.

Juventus, back in the top flight after their demotion last year for match-fixing, extended their lead midway through the second half when substitute Iaquinta converted a penalty after he was hauled down by defender Alessandro Grandoni.

Debutant Iaquinta, a close-season buy from Udinese, claimed a second late on when Pavel Nedved's rasping shot deflected off him and wrong-footed Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

Trezeguet, who fell out with club bosses following their promotion last season before surprisingly signing a new contract, then grabbed his second with a coolly-taken finish and netted a third with a back-heel almost on the goalline.

Massimo Loviso scored a consolation in injury time with a 20-metre drive.

The result slightly flattered a workmanlike Juve, who scored their last three goals in a frantic final five minutes, but Trezeguet was still thrilled.

"We have shown that we are back," he told Sky Sport. "Now we look ahead, but we have only taken one step even if it is important for confidence and morale."

LAZIO DRAW

Despite the scoreline, Claudio Ranieri's new signings have yet to gel and he sprang a surprise by giving midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic a league debut at right back.

Lazio and Torino earlier drew 2-2 in an entertaining opening to the Serie A season.

Alessandro Rosina's perfect chip over 43-year-old goalkeeper Marco Ballotta gave visiting Torino the lead in a first half in which three players went off with injuries, including Lazio defender Mobido Diakite with a broken leg.

Lazio, who visit Dinamo Bucharest in the second leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie on Tuesday, equalised on 56 minutes through Goran Pandev with fellow striker Tommaso Rocchi putting last season's third-placed team 2-1 up.

Torino hit back on 68 minutes when the unmarked Tommaso Vailatti headed in at the far post and they held out after Gianluca Comotto was sent off late on for a second booking.

The rest of the first round of matches take place on Sunday with Inter Milan beginning their title defence at home to Udinese and last season's runners-up AS Roma travelling to Palermo. European champions AC Milan visit promoted Genoa.

Juventus made it two wins out of two on its return to Serie A with a thrilling 3-2 victory at Cagliari on Sunday afternoon.

Claudio Ranieri's men took the lead twice through David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero only to find themselves pegged back by two Pasquale Foggia penalties.

The second spot-kick prompted lengthy protestations by Juve with the result being the dismissal of defender Jonathan Zebina.

Cagliari's Cristiano Del Grosso followed him down the tunnel a minute later and the 10 men of Juve prevailed in dramatic fashion when Giorgio Chiellini headed home Mauro Camoranesi's free-kick in the final minute.

The Bianconeri lead the table on goal difference from Roma, which maintained its 100 percent record with a 3-0 defeat of Siena.

Alberto Aquilani gave Roma a 17th-minute lead and late efforts from Ludovic Giuly and Francesco Totti completed a routine win.

AC Milan and Fiorentina, who both won their opening-day fixtures, meet at the San Siro on Monday night.

Sampdoria and Lazio failed to produce a goal in Sunday's evening game.

The Genoa-based hosts had full-back Reto Ziegler sent off with eight minutes to go but held on for a point.

Atalanta beat Parma 2-0 thanks to a Riccardo Zampagna penalty and a Morris Carrozzieri strike.

Napoli produced the performance of the day with a 5-0 win at Udinese.

The top flight new boys cruised to victory with Marcelo Zalayeta's double added to by efforts from Maurizio Domizzi, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Roberto Sosa.

Catania and Genoa fought out a goalless draw while Fabrizio Miccoli netted twice in Palermo's 4-2 triumph at Livorno.

Francesco Cozza climbed off the bench to grab a last-minute equalizer for Reggina and deny Torino its first win of the new season.

Cozza was an 84th-minute replacement for Luca Vigiani but made quite an impact, firing home in the closing seconds to preserve the visitors' unbeaten start.

Reggina took the lead shortly after the half-hour mark through Nicola Amoruso but goals from Alessandro Rosina and Nicola Ventola appeared to have handed the Turin-based side maximum points.

Defending champions Internazionale beat Empoli, 2-0, on Saturday evening.

Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a goal in either half to ensure Roberto Mancini's side claimed all three points for the first time this season.

AS Roma took over sole possession of first place in the Italian league Sunday with a 2-0 win at Reggina.

Juan scored in his league debut in the 51st minute and Roma captain Francesco Totti added his second goal of the season in the 85th after Reggina was reduced to 10 men. In its first three games, Roma has scored seven goals and allowed none.


Juventus, which entered tied for the lead with Roma, lost to visiting Udinese 1-0. Fresh off a two-goal performance for Italy's national team, Antonio Di Natale headed a shot past Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon in the 47th. The best Juventus could manage was two shots off the post by Alessandro Del Piero.

Juventus midfielder Mauro Camoranesi exited in the first half with an apparent muscle problem.

"We had our chances and we didn't take advantage," Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri said. "Until Camoranesi went out, we were organized and playing well. In the second half, we had trouble."

Defending champion Inter Milan beat Catania 2-0 with goals from Hernan Crespo and Cesar.

Roma leads with nine points, followed by Inter with seven and newly promoted Napoli and Juventus with six each. After losing its opening game, Napoli beat Sampdoria 2-0 for its second straight win. Former Juventus forward Marcelo Zalayeta and Marek Hamsik scored for Napoli.

Riccardo Zampagna's imaginative overhead flick snatched a draw for the visitors with just five minutes left.

Fiorentina had opened the scoring in bizarre fashion on 25 minutes when Adrian Mutu crossed and the ball eventually rebounded in off Atalanta defender Claudio Rivalta's head after keeper Ferdinando Coppola had collided with Giampaolo Pazzini.

Cristiano Doni's superb dipping freekick early in the second half brought Atalanta level only minutes after team mate Moris Carrozzieri had been dismissed for a second booking.

Substitute Christian Vieri then powered in a header against his former club, whom he left at the end of last season, to put Fiorentina in the lead for a second time but striker Zampagna had the last word with a moment of brilliance.

GENOA 1 LIVORNO 1

The visitors finally picked up a point after conceding nine goals in their opening two defeats.

Livorno scored first through Francesco Tavano's penalty on 53 minutes after Francesco Bega had brought down Giovanni Pasquale.

Marco Borriello soon equalised for the home side with a deft header from Marco Rossi's excellent cross but the end of the game was marred by dismissals for Livorno's Vidigal and Genoa's Ivan Juric for second yellow cards.

Omar Milanetto hit the bar with an early spot kick for the home side after former Milan striker Borriello had been pulled back on the byline by Alessandro Grandoni.

Hernan Crespo gave the champions the lead after a quarter of an hour but looked offside after being set up by Maicon's barnstorming run.

Cesar then wrapped up the points with a confident finish with 10 minutes remaining as Inter moved into second spot despite an inconsistent start to the campaign.

Inter, without the injured Patrick Vieira, Cristian Chivu, Walter Samuel and Marco Materazzi, included troubled striker Adriano up front with Zlatan Ibrahimovic only fit enough to come on from the bench.

Antonio Di Natale, who scored both goals in Italy's 2-1 win over Ukraine in Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier, nodded the visitors to victory straight after the break following a neat passage of play.

Udinese, battered 5-0 at home by Napoli two weeks ago, pulled off the surprise win after weathering a late storm where Vincenzo Iaquinta's header was ruled out for a foul and Alessandro Del Piero hit the bar with a free kick.

Former Juve striker Marcelo Zalayeta took advantage of a dreadful mix-up between Samp keeper Luca Castellazzi and defender Alessandro Bastrini to slot into an empty net just before halftime.

Marek Hamsyk made sure of the points with 15 minutes remaining.

Zalayeta, who now has three goals this season, had earlier rattled the bar with a strong header as promoted Napoli built on their 5-0 demolition of Udinese last time out.

Brazilian midfielder Simplicio prodded home after four minutes when Aimo Diana's hopeful pass found its way through the Torino defence.

On-loan Inter Milan playmaker Alvaro Recoba then equalised with a neat finish with the outside of this boot early in the second period.

REGGINA 0 ROMA 2

Brazil defender Juan put the visitors in front when he went round the back of the defence to flick home a free kick just after halftime.

Reggina's Carlos Valdez was then dismissed almost immediately for a dangerous studs-up tackle on Simone Perrotta and Roma's Ludovic Giuly had a penalty appeal refused.

Francesco Totti calmed any Roma nerves with a second five minutes from time to send last season's runners-up clear at the top as the only side with three wins from three.

Bernardo Corradi grabbed the equaliser for the home side in the 72nd minute with a superb swivelling finish in his first game since moving on loan from Manchester City.

The visitors had taken the lead just before halftime when Alessandro Matri blasted into an empty net after a free kick into the box rebounded off the post into the striker's path.

Parma were given a debatable penalty midway through the second half but Paolo Castellini's effort was easily saved by Marco Fortin.

Alessandro Nesta's injury-time strike rescued a point for European champions AC Milan, who rested Kaka among others with one eye on Tuesday's Champions League opener with Benfica.

Massimo Maccarone had capitalised on mistakes by goalkeeper Dida and defender Kakha Kaladze to open the scoring for Siena midway through the first half, although there was a hint of offside.

Nesta then forced the ball home before Mario Frick of Siena was sent off for a tackle from behind as he vented his frustration at conceding so late.

Visitors Empoli, who face FC Zurich in their UEFA Cup debut on Thursday, had a shout for a penalty turned down in this dire draw but at least picked up their first point of the season.

Lazio visit Olympiakos in the Champions League on Wednesday and will have to play a lot better to manage a result. Uruguayan keeper Fernando Muslera made his debut for the Rome side.

Udinese inflicted a shock 1-0 defeat on Serie A high-fliers Juventus to bring an abrupt end to their 100 percent league record on Sunday.

The hosts had several good opportunities to find the net during an end-to-end game, with Alessandro Del Piero hitting the woodwork on no less than three separate occasions.

And they were made to pay for their lack of clinical finishing when Antonio Di Natale scored a controversial winner, from what appeared to be an offside position, a minute after the break.


The strike capped off a fantastic week for the Italy international after he netted two goals to secure victory in his country's crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against Ukraine on Wednesday.

The defeat sees Juve surrender their lead to Roma at the top of the standings, while Udinese's first league win of the season has propelled them up to mid-table. Roma maintained their unbeaten start with a 2-0 victory at 10-man Reggina.

The Giallorossi dominated the clash and were unlucky not to take the lead until after the half-time interval, Brazilian defender Juan breaking the deadlock five minutes after the break with a clever backheel.

Matters went from bad to worse for the hosts when Carlos Valdez was sent off a minute later, before Francesco Totti compounded their misery with a second goal six minutes from time.

Internazionale moved up to second as they warmed up for their Champions League trip to Fenerbahce with a 2-0 victory over Catania at the San Siro.

An early goal from Hernan Crespo gave the Nerazzurri the lead, but they found the Sicilians tough to finish off and were not assured of their victory until Cesar grabbed a second with 11 minutes to go.

Marcelo Zalayeta and Marek Hamsik scored as Napoli beat Sampdoria 2-0 to push them up to third place in the table.

Zalayeta scored late in the first half before Hamsik doubled the lead 13 minutes from time as Edoardo Reja`s side followed up their 5-0 victory at Udinese with another comprehensive win to continue their impressive return to the top flight.

Ten-man Atalanta twice fought back from a goal down to secure a hard-earned 2-2 draw against Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Gianpaolo Bellini put through his own net to hand Fiorentina the lead on 25 minutes while Atalanta's afternoon got even worse when Morris Carrozzieri was given his marching orders for a second yellow card shortly after the break.

But even a man down the visitors managed to equalise through Cristiano Doni's delightful free-kick.

La Viola looked to have secured all three points when they went ahead for a second time through veteran striker Christian Vieri with just 18 minutes remaining, but Riccardo Zampagna rescued a point for Atalanta with a goal five minutes from time. Torino made it three draws from three games this season after a 1-1 stalemate at Palermo.

The northerners will have been pleased to have left Sicily with a share of the spoils, however, after falling behind early on to a Fabio Simplicio goal. Alvaro Recoba equalised nine minutes into the second half after which a draw was almost inevitable as both sides toiled in the heat.

Two forgotten men of Serie A provided a reminder of their quality with Francesco Tavano and Marco Borriello both on target in a 1-1 draw between Genoa and Livorno. Former Roma striker Tavano put Livorno ahead with a penalty in the 53rd minute before Borriello replied in the 57th minute with Genoa's first goal since returning to Serie A.

Both sides finished with 10 men. First, Jose Luis Vidigal was sent off for a second yellow card, trying to earn the third penalty of the game before Frank Juric followed him down the tunnel for exactly the same crime.

Mid-table sides Parma and Cagliari drew 1-1 in the evening game. Alessandro Matri gave the Sardinians the lead after 40 minutes but on-loan striker Bernardo Corradi equalised with 19 minutes to go.

On Saturday, Alessandro Nesta's late equaliser gave AC Milan a 1-1 draw at Siena, for whom Massimo Maccarone netted after 24 minutes. Lazio and Empoli drew 0-0 in Rome.

Roma went to the top of the Serie A Sunday when they extended their perfect start to the season to three out of three with a 2-0 win over Reggina.

Juventus went into the weekend's action in the lead on goal difference but slipped to fourth when suffering a shock 1-0 loss, their first defeat of the new campaign, to Udinese in Turin.

Inter Milan climbed four places to second with their 2-0 win, the second of the season, over San Siro visitors Catania.


On paper Juventus rather than Roma looked to have the better chance of maintaining their unblemished record for 2007/08 with the Romans mustering only one win from their last four visits to Calabria.

But they boosted that record after Brazilian Juan marked his topflight debut in the best possible way, putting Roma in front in the 50th minute with Francesco Totti adding the second six minutes from time.

Roma's cause had not been helped when goalkeeper Alexander Doni failed to come back for the second half after suffering an injury, the gloves being taken by Under-21 international Gianluca Curci.

The result was a timely confidence booster ahead of Roma's opening Champions League group tie against Dinamo Kiev.

"What interests me know is that my players keep their feet on the ground," said coach Luciano Spalletti.

"There are clubs with far greater resources than us. And like us there are other teams who can fight for the title, like Fiorentina."

In Turin Juventus, who face Roma next weekend, had a frustrating afternoon with Alessandro del Piero hitting the post three times against a Udinese side that had proved capable of holding Inter to a 1-1 draw at the start of the campaign, only to crash 5-0 to Napoli.

There was to be no such repeat of that lopsided loss here with Udinese taking the lead in the opening seconds of the second half in a three player move started by Giuseppe Dossena and completed by the unmarked Antonio Di Natale's header.

Di Natale's heroics came after his two goals for Italy in their 2-1 Euro 2008 qualifier win over Ukraine last week.

Udinese went close to doubling their advantage in the 62nd minute only for Gyan Asamoah's half-volley to ricochet off the upright.

Napoli's 2-0 win over Sampdoria lifted them up five places into third between Inter and Juve.

Sunday's late match between struggling Parma and mid-table Cagliari ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

On Saturday fifth-placed AC Milan were held to their second successive 1-1 draw with only Alessandro Nesta's late late equaliser avoided an embarrassing slip up at struggling Siena.

Siena, lying fourth from the foot of the table, took a 24th minute lead thanks to Massimo Maccarone, who pounced on some comedy defending as Nelson Dida fumbled an effort from Cristian Bucchi and then Kakha Kaladze tripped over the ball as he attempted to clear it.

That let in Maccarone although the former Middlesbrough player was lucky not to be caught up for offside as he slotted in from close range.

The Tuscany club were heading for a valuable maximum points until Nesta popped up in the 91st minute to level from a volley after a move started by a freekick awarded when Leandro Grimi felled Clarence Seedorf.

Also on Saturday Lazio were held to a goalless draw by second from bottom Empoli.

Italian police have arrested 66 fans of Rome soccer team Lazio, some of them armed with knives, machetes, clubs and knuckle-dusters, in a major crackdown on football hooligans.

Police told a news conference on Monday that the fans had been stopped on Sunday as they set off for a Serie A match against Atalanta in Bergamo. They were later released from custody pending possible charges.

"We managed to avoid the worst of it," said Lamberto Giannini, head of the special police unit that carried out the arrests.

Italian soccer has been beset by crowd trouble in recent years and is still recovering from the death of a police officer at a Serie A game in Catania in February.

Sunday's derby match between Genoa and Sampdoria was marred by clashes between rivals fans before kick-off.

An Italian court here on Monday called for AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani to stand trial on charges of false accounting.

In addition to Galliani, Italian prosecutors issued a similar summons for Inter Milan vice president Rinaldo Ghelfi and a former Inter director, Mauro Gambaro, Italian news agency ANSA reported.

AC Milan and city rivals Inter are suspected of inflating their turnover figures for 2003-2005 to improve their balance sheets.


AC Milan, responding to Monday's development, insisted they were in the clear and that Galliani was innocent.

"Our accounts are accurate," the European champions said in a statement.

The affair centres on allegations that Inter and AC Milan bumped up the amount they had received from players' transfers so as to play down the true extent of their financial losses.

They are accused of exchanging second string players between themselves at over-inflated prices in order to wipe out part of their debts and fall back within parameters imposed by the Italian Football Federation.

Udinese moved into the top three in the Italian Serie A on Saturday following a 2-0 victory over winless Reggina. Antonio Di Natale scored a goal in each half for the home side, who recorded their second successive win to climb to third - two points behind leaders Roma. In Saturday's other match, AC Milan continued their indifferent start to the season with a 1-1 draw at home to Parma. Having broken the deadlock through Clarence Seedorf shortly before the interval, Milan had to settle for a point when Andrea Pisanu restored parity for the visitors. It marked the third 1-1 draw in a row for Milan, who sit sixth in the table, while Parma are still searching for their first win of the campaign.

Brazilian midfielder Mancini handed Roma the lead with a beautiful chip from outside the box on 19 minutes but Alessandro Gamberini hit back quickly when he turned in a corner which Roma keeper Doni flapped at.

French midfielder Ludovic Giuly rifled in a crisp shot before halftime but Fiorentina equalised 10 minutes from the end with Mutu's cheeky spotkick.

Roma striker Mirko Vucinic, standing in for the injured Francesco Totti, had an early effort disallowed for offside while Mutu missed two great chances at the other end.

Marco Borriello bagged a hat-trick for the hosts in this end-to-end affair.

Visiting keeper Samir Handanovic made a hash of punching a cross and Borriello took full advantage with a controlled finish before netting again after the break.

Genoa keeper Rubinho was dismissed early in the second half when he was wrongly adjudged to have handled outside the area and Asamoah Gyan quickly grabbed a goal back for Udinese when he flicked in as the ball flew around the box.

Former AC Milan striker Borriello, who had struck a post with a furious free kick early on, scored his third goal from the penalty spot before Udinese's Giandomenico Mesto reduced the arrears to make it a tense finish.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored another brace to follow his double in the 2-2 draw at Livorno on Sunday.

The Swede picked up the ball outside the box and drove in a superb angled drive midway through the first half and then wriggled free from a challenge to smash home with his left foot early in the second half.

Champions Inter, who have stuttered so far this term, finished off their best showing so far this season when Luis Figo crashed home a shot.

Nicola Legrottaglie prodded home just after halftime following a scramble and former Bayern Munich midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic doubled their advantage moments later when he turned in after team mate David Trezeguet's miskick.

Trezeguet, who had a goal wrongly denied for offside in the first half, then breached the offside trap with a long run to make it three before Raffaele Palladino completed the rout in stoppage time.

Juve rested Alessandro Del Piero and Pavel Nedved from the starting line-up.

Italy striker Tommaso Rocchi scuffed the ball home from a tight angle early in the second period to set an inconsistent Lazio on their way to their first win this term.

A last-gasp free kick from Fabrizio Miccoli and a controversial strike by Aimo Diana gave Palermo a famous victory over a Milan side which has made a messy start to the season.

Clarence Seedorf put Milan ahead on 10 minutes with a cool finish following a neat pass from Kaka and could have wrapped up the game when he blasted wide with a good opportunity in the second half.

Milan goalkeeper Dida missed the game with a recurrence of a shoulder injury and replacement Zeljko Kalac endured a nervous game.

Reginaldo opened the scoring in the second half before on-loan Manchester City forward Bernardo Corradi grabbed his second of the campaign when he poked in from close range.

Simone Loria headed in unmarked against his former side to give Siena a deserved first-half lead.

However, Atalanta equalised on the hour thanks to Cristiano Doni's penalty following a push on Ferreira Pinto as the ball was flashed across the box.

AC Milan's patchy form continued when they lost 2-1 at Palermo while Inter Milan went level at the top of Serie A with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring another brace in a 3-0 win over Sampdoria on Wednesday.


Roma, without the injured Francesco Totti, drew 2-2 at Fiorentina to stay in first place but conceded a goal with 10 minutes to go when Matteo Ferrari fouled Christian Vieri and Adrian Mutu converted the penalty with a cheeky chip.

Juventus crushed Reggina 4-0 while former AC Milan striker Marco Borriello scored a hat-trick in promoted Genoa's 3-2 win at home to Udinese.

Milan looked on track to end a run of three 1-1 league draws after Clarence Seedorf flicked the ball home following Kaka's clever pass in the 10th minute.

The European champions continued to dominate but Aimo Diana equalised from close range after Amauri chested the ball down and squared for his team mate amid protests from Milan that he had used an arm and that Diana was offside.

Palermo's Fabrizio Miccoli then grabbed the winner when he blasted home a free kick in stoppage time to condemn Milan to their first defeat of the campaign.

Milan's reserve goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac, playing instead of the injured Dida, could have done better with Miccoli's effort.

"Milan deserved to win. This defeat hurts because we didn't deserve it and there were some decisions that went against us," Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti told SKY TV. "It is difficult to play better than we did."

SCRAPPY EQUALISER

Inter produced their best display of the season to recover from last weekend's 2-2 draw at Livorno and last week's 1-0 defeat by Fenerbahce in the Champions League.

Ibrahimovic, who also scored a double at Livorno, drove in two excellent efforts from the edge of the box either side of halftime with Luis Figo adding the third.

Inter joined Roma on 11 points after Luciano Spalletti's side conceded late in Florence having looked set to stay clear at the top.

Roma, who won their first three games before drawing with Juve last weekend, took the lead thanks to a superb chip from Mancini but then let Fiorentina defender Alessandro Gamberini grab a scrappy equaliser.

Ludovic Giuly restored their advantage before the break only for Ferrari to give away a penalty with an ill-judged slide on Vieri leaving Mutu to coolly convert the spot kick.

Fiorentina's Marco Donadel was sent off for two bookings with five minutes left.

Juve romped to victory over hapless Reggina in the second half thanks to close range goals from Nicola Legrottaglie and Hasan Salihamidzic before long runs and finishes from David Trezeguet and Raffaele Palladino.

Cagliari's Pasquale Foggia blasted home the winner from the penalty spot in the seventh minute after Christian Bucchi had handled the ball in the area. The home side protected their lead relatively comfortably for the rest of the match.

Empoli came from behind with second-half goals by Nicola Pozzi, Sebastian Giovinco and Ighli Vannucchi, who scored a penalty.

Edinson Cavani lobbed Palermo in front in the 39th minute when Empoli keeper Daniele Balli gifted him the ball. Palermo's Fabio Caserta was sent off 15 minutes from time for a second yellow card.

AC MILAN 1 CATANIA 1

Catania left San Siro with a point and extended the European champions' winless streak in Serie A to five games.

The Sicilians went ahead with their first real chance in the 25th minute when unmarked Uruguayan midfielder Jorge Martinez nodded in a Gionatha Spinesi cross.

Kaka levelled the scores from the penalty spot in the 48th minute after Mark Edusei had cut out a cross with his arm.

Milan tried to push forward, but Catania defended well and created some good chances on the counter-attack.

Napoli's Paolo Cannavaro gave the visitors the lead in the 12th minute when he turned a Julio Leon cross into his own net. A Maurizio Domizzi penalty at the start of the second half put the teams back on level terms but Giuseppe Sculli headed home the winner for Genoa at the death.

The match was played behind closed doors because Napoli were handed a stadium ban for incidents caused by their fans during Wednesday's 1-0 home win over Livorno.

Aleksandar Kolarov's second-half strike earned Lazio a point after Francesco Cozza had driven Reggina ahead in the eighth minute. Reggina's Francesco Modesto was sent off in injury time for dissent.

Lazio rested several first-choice players ahead of Wednesday's Champions League match against Real Madrid.

SAMPDORIA 3 ATALANTA 0

Sampdoria scored after just three minutes when Claudio Bellucci beat Atalanta's offside trap and tucked away Vincenzo Montella's smart pass. Montella also provided the cross that enabled Paolo Sammarco to double the lead.

Antonio Cassano sewed things up in the closing stages with his first goal since joining Sampdoria from Real Madrid on loan in the close season. Atalanta fell to their first defeat of the season.

A last-gasp goal by Cristian Zapata and a strike by Italy striker Fabio Quagliarella 11 minutes from time gave Udinese the spoils. Parma's Bernardo Corradi, who is on loan from Manchester City, had opened the scoring with his third goal of the season.

David Trezeguet's stoppage-time goal moved Juventus up to second place in Serie A.

The France striker took advantage of a loose header to volley the ball home from the edge of the box and score his seventh goal of the season.

Roma played most of the top-of-the-table clash with 10 men after Ludovic Giuly's 28th-minute expulsion for handling a goalbound Zlatan Ibrahimovic header. The Swedish striker converted the ensuing spot-kick.

Simone Perrotta gave the home side a glimpse of hope eight minutes after the break, when he took advantage of some careless defending by Inter's Maxwell to even the scores.

But the visitors regained the lead almost immediately through substitute Hernan Crespo. Julio Cruz and Ivan Cordoba completed the rout that puts the champions clear at the top of Serie A.

LIVORNO 0 FIORENTINA 3

Argentine striker Pablo Osvaldo made sure Fiorentina's rested top-scorer Adrian Mutu was not missed with two goals that steered the visitors to victory over their Tuscan rivals. The 21-year-old opened the scores on the stroke of halftime with a skilful volley from a tight angle.

Livorno midfielder Massimo Loviso was sent off in the 63rd minute for a challenge from behind. Osvaldo doubled Fiorentina's lead five minutes later and his compatriot Mario Santana put the result beyond doubt.
